Last year, Toy MP Aiden Burley was criticised in the press for holding a Nazi-themed party in France as part of a friend's stag weekend. The party involved Burley and others dressing up as Nazis, and they are photographed goose-stepping around, giving "heil Hitler" salutes, etc. Hilarious.
In response to the press fuss at the time, Sir Gerald Howarth, a former Tory defence minister, said:
"We all do silly things. It was just a bit of high jinx. He's the victim of a very nasty witch hunt by the press."
This weekend, Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn was criticised by the same newspapers for failing to bow quite enough when laying a wreath during a remembrance ceremony for Britain's war dead. He *did* bow, it should be understood, but for some, he didn't bow low enough and this was apparently dis-respectful.
Sir Gerald Howarth's reaction:
"He needs to realise that you cannot compromise on respect for our fallen. He is an embarrassment to his part and an embarrassment to our country."
So, having a Nazi-themed party in France (a country which suffered greatly under Nazi atrocities) is just a bit of fun, but failing to lean forward at a sufficient angle is a national disgrace?
Piss off, self-righteous, hypocritical Tory wankers. Their petty behaviour betrays the real situation. They *fear* Corbyn.
