I think Denis is being silly... We were playing a 5 minute per turn game for 35 pts. Yes a 5 minute game for 35 pts... At the time he wanted to pause we had 5 players playing... I do not think you should be able to pause a 5 min per turn game... I also do not think you should change the 5 min turn game into a longer interval game... People join because it is a quick game...

I play for fun... So I offered a draw as a resolution to the his problem... although I just walk away if something comes up... I would never try to pause a 5 minute game... It is ridiculous. If removed his draw or his surrogate did... when he left he had left it as draw... so whatever... Again... it was a 35 pt. game.... Big deal.

If it wasn't a big deal, you would have backed down.

We cannot maintain the principle that we won't moderate games if the pot size is low.

Points and turn legth aren't the issue! I was attacked on three fronts I emerge the strongest power and i wasn't influenced by austria's CD. I think I deserve a win!

In a 5min game, I don't think anyone should expect pauses. People join live games with the expectation that it will be a live game. If you can't play a live game all the way through, I think you're betting off CDing and letting someone else take your spot.
Now, as I understand it, the game was paused and turned into 24hour phases. So, I have to ask, was that change the will of all players or just denis. If only denis wanted the change to 24 hours, then the game should be drawn or cancelled. If everyone did agree to the change, it gets trickier...

Seriousham obviously was out of line and should be penalized, but I don't know if the mods want to get into the business of policing babysitters. Everyone should know the dangers of giving out passwords, and most people should have enough respect not to dick around with other people's accounts when they sit.

Denis left the game with it marked "Draw", his surrogate cancelled the "Draw". I don't think that the surrogate should be getting such bad press... To answer your question about interval... No one agreed to changing the interval or pausing... It just happened... Denis must be friends with someone...

When a short pause is needed it should be allowed I'm not talking about more than an hour. Everyone but Curtis and henrytinkler agreed to a short pause so I got seriousham to sit for me under the understanding I would allow him a survive anyway... I did not vote draw ever an I told you my premise was to win! Instead of having a short pause we ended up changing the game to 24 hours and paused which was uneeded if you had agreed to a short pause. The reason it was changed is because withholding a pause because of a grudge in a game is against the rules!

what rule is that? players are not obligated to pause, although it is usually very rude of them not to.

Abdemacht if the game had been simply paused and left it would be impossible to resume it so eventually the game phase would have to be changed! Knowing this I simply took a short cut... And I never agreed to a draw I accidentaly clicked draw once but canceled it and that's all!

denis, all i am saying is that you took the liberty of changing the phase length, thus breaking the original "contract" of the game. i dont think what seriousham did was right and he should be reprimanded, but i think a draw is better than the cd you could have gotten.

I didn't take any liberties the mods decided so complain to them. I would be happy to play out it as a five minute game and get a win. Either way what seriousham was wrong and it wasn't my choice to change the phase legnth and it was the mods final decision

And I can tell you that in one season I could finish that game and get a win so why would I draw in he first place? It's wta I have 16 centers and 3 or more different ways to win! Why would I draw?

Maybe on option for live games that often can't be finished would be an option to vote for an option similar to draw, but where people received the points.
Only for live games because its not reflective of the real game, but it could solve problems like these...

Actually it was seriousham that did all the damage... It helps when you are playing two countries at the sametime... It makes the other countries moves very very definite...

denis... In a 5 min interval game you should not expect to pause. Just leave or do not join in the first place...

I do suggest you get seriousham to play your future games... He does much better...

How so? He played 2 or 3 turns max and I had suvived mat cathoun, henrytinkler's and seriousham's attack on my own!

I didn't expect to need a pause in the first place it's called having a life so things come up. A short pause wouldn't have hurt anyone anyway!

To clarify: I was the one who changed the phase length.
My policy is, as posted in their global chat, unless there is opposition expressed there I will change the phase. If any of the other players object then I change it straight back. This is because generally people are honest and do not do things against the will of their fellow players.

Thanks figle you could change it back but I doubt we will get it unpaused and so you will probably have to change it back
