Opening in Gunboat as Russia
Russia has the largest array of openings compared to all other countries on the Classic map. So what exactly is the best opening when you can't communicate with your fellow... allies?

Mods Ignoring Complaints?
I filed multiple complaints against abusive forum content days ago, and the mods have not responded. Very disappointed -- I'm fairly certain I am being ignore/treated unfairly because they dislike me -- I expect better behavior from the mods here.

Anyone else being ignored by mods?

Jamie - mods sent me an email. I have no idea Iif they fairly dealt with the offensive forum users I have pointed out to them - they apparently think that we the people don't deserve to know who was punished for what.. . which is a major part of the problem - they keep punishment a secret, which is why most suspect they don't mete it out fairly, equally and without bias. As opposed to publicly identifying punishment, c which would essentially build up a database a punishable offenses. But... Making it public would mean they would no longer be allowed to show favoritism.

As for justice.... Justice will be a long hard challenge, I assume.
Kakarroto (128 D)

The problem with public punishment is that there can be following punishment from the community which is too much for what they have done wrong.

It is always hard and no easy decision, where to draw the line, what danger is greater. I don't say you are wrong, but absolute transparency may lead to results no one has intended. Nobody is perfect and mistakes happen. And we have a saying in my country "Wo Menschen sind menschelts." which translates to about that when people are involved, personal feelings are always bound to happen.

Is there a perfect solution? Maybe. But I think there is no objective perfect solution. Well, these are just my thoughts. I'll go out of here again. Just wanted to give some input here.
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC
@kak - public punishment? Blol b what are you talking about? Ohhh.... You mean the way some okayed relentlessly harass other players and chase then from thread to thread? Yeah, that already happens regardless of punishment. And that, too, I presume would be punishable.

Again, the idea is to establish a PUBLIC record of what actually can and cannot be done/said. As of right no, NOBODY *really* knows exactly what all is and isn't punishable.

Since I have clearly identified users that viciously and personally attack other users - adding no value to the forum in so doing - who are still talking... Clearly there is a MASSIVE double standard at okay.

I have been told directly by mods that if I notify then of such behaviour, they would deal with is. Clearly they haven't. Clearly, there is a double standard... Or triple... Who knows. But since they keep their list of sins private, and further HAVE NO AGREEMENT AMONGST THEMSELVES on what is allowable.... THAT is why there is an obvious problem with there rules that anyone who had been around here long enough is fully aware of.

"Since I have clearly identified users that viciously and personally attack other users - adding no value to the forum in so doing - who are still talking... "

Don't presume to have a clue what the mods are doing Krellin. Everyone gets at least 1 warning before they are silenced. I know your warnings were so long ago you might not remember them but they did happen. And those warnings are typically made via email or pm, so you won't have a clue. This site has and still does give more chances then just about anywhere else. You can't really complain about this since you'd otherwise have been banned a long time ago. And as for keeping offenses private. You and I both know that's the only reason the community still tolerates you at all.

As for not agreeing on the rules between themselves, that's absurd and you have absolutely no evidence to back that claim up.
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC

JMO, in aware of procedure. The fact the m that the people I identified did not already have warnings is evidence that there is a problem in equal enforcement - so in the absence of knowledge I will do as all do and make an educated assumption based upon evidence available.

As for mods not agreeing amongst themselves, I absolutely have evidence of this BECAUSE I'VE BEEN TOLD SO BY A MOD, you arrogant prick. JMO, you are NOT a mod anymore, so I think you shouldn't arrogantly try to speak on their behalf. I get it - you still think you are special and your crap doesn't stink, which is why you think you can behave towards people in a way you would have warned then about before... But hint hint.... Your just a user these days... Though I suspect one with special privileges.

Let me have a crack at your quiz Jamiet99uk, Do I win free points if I answer all four questions correct ?
Did the Mods reply to krellin ? Krellin says he received an email, plus I would conjecture that krellin's email address is well known to the Almighty Mods, so my answer is Yes. ( whether krellin takes on board or not the sage advice from the Almighty Mods ? Probably not imho )
Was any action taken ?
Tricky question, I'll punt "Yes" as my answer. I figure that the Almighty Mods will have acted calmly, rationally & pfskrellin had multiple dummy spits.
Does krellin feel better.
My answer is a resounding No.
. Krellin will never feel better with regard to his obsession with his " victim" status, it's essential to his delusions ( particularly that he is not a forum bully, but those who disagree with him are the bad guys ) about himself & the rest of us, the world etc, imho.

Final question.. Was Justice served ?
As a hors d'ouvre, or as a feature dish ? Was Justice involved ? To whom was Justice "served" , or not "served" ? I think even the Eggheads team would struggle with this question jamiet99uk. Can we get an objective answer ?

Krellin clearly is saying that he has been denied Justice, but he'll parrot speak that line until the very end of time.
I give up jamiet99uk.
Thanks jmo for your input. Disinformation, falsehoods have to be called out, krellin will ignore your rebuttals, have a dummy spit & in "pfskrellin eloquence" insult you ( oh, already happened I see ) But it's necessary so other readers can be better informed, form their own views on things like krellin's veracity (ho ho)/etc.

Krellin,

I have had enough of your nonsense. You make all these claims and they are just bullshit and false equivalencies. Of all the years I’ve been here, you’ve been the worst perpetrator and instigator of attacking people. You attack them relentlessly and when they retaliate or even just disagree with you, you then claim that you were attacked, that they started it, and that you were offended. Over the years, you’ve attacked many of the regular forum users on the site. You’ve spewed vile and hate many, many times, more so than anyone on the site. You find it ok to call people niggers, retards, fucktards, pussies, cunts, and so on and so forth. You have no compassion for those less fortunate than you, calling them useless shit, a drain on society, bottom feeders, etc. You have personally attacked me, called me names, and attacked my family, bringing them into your sick arguments. As I’ve told you before, that’s not acceptable on this site. The mods and I have given you dozens of warnings and several silences over the years. If you can’t be civil in a discussion on this site, then you are not welcome here. It has nothing to do with your politics and beliefs; the vast majority of users do not have any issues with the site rules.

Take for instance this thread you created. It was not done out of the goodness of your heart or goodwill towards the site. You did it as retaliation for a perceived wrong. You were silenced by the mods for rule violations that you have been warned previously multiple times. You emailed back saying that we are being “overly sensitive again” and that you are going to have to “be a childlish dick” about it. You then created this thread saying that you emailed the mods “days ago” and they haven’t answered you in days when in reality, you emailed them with that first message and a dozen other “complaints” on Xmas eve. It had been less than 72 hours since you emailed them and the time you created this thread and it was over Xmas eve and Xmas day when people are away with their families. In your complaints that you have been personally abused and in the emails you sent to the mods, you always neglect to include shit you said to them just prior to their comments to you. What they said to you is mild compared to what you have said to them. This is not an isolated incident and you are no innocent party.

In short, I’ve had enough of your nonsense. This is my site and I am working on making it the best site to play and enjoy Diplomacy and your nonsense has no place in it. I’m tired of you spewing shit whenever you are in the mood and wasting my time and the mods’ time for your own amusement. You are no longer welcome on my site. If you can’t abide by the site rules like the vast majority of users, then you are not welcome here. I wish you luck in finding a Diplomacy site or a gaming site that will allow you to spew whatever the hell you want without consequences.

The reports of Krellin's death are sadly true...on a brighter note...here are six do's and don'ts when writing his eulogy...

Giving a eulogy is an important responsibility. It is a somber occasion and emotions are running high. It is important to give a positive, uplifting eulogy to stay appropriate to the occasion. If you focus on the positives and avoid the pitfalls, the eulogy will be a blessing to you and friends and family in attendance.

Pay Respect – This is the time to focus on the positive aspects of the deceased. People attend funerals out of respect – honoring the memory of the deceaded. Stay focused on that when giving your eulogy. Talk about the better qualities of the deceased. However, it is important to be honest. Don’t embellish them. It is uncomfortable to hear things in a eulogy that you know are untrue (good or bad).
Avoid the Circumstances of the Death – Unless the deceased died in the line of duty or in some heroic manner, it is a good idea to avoid talking about the death. Loved ones want to be reminded of life, not its demise. This will help you avoid the “whys” or the “unfairness” of the death, which can be difficult to bear.

Tread Lightly with Humor – Humor can be useful and a source of relief at a funeral. However, it is important to be cautious when using it. Many times, humor can be unwelcomed. Some people are offended at any attempt at humor in a funeral, so be sure to keep the audience in mind.

With that in mind, it is a bad idea to tell a joke. Light-hearted memories and humorous stories can be appropriate, but think about everyone that was close to the deceased when deciding what is and is not appropriate.

Religious Themes – Most of the time, it is a good idea to avoid talk about religion or the afterlife, unless this is what everyone is expecting from you (and is part of the reason you were asked). In other words, play to the family. Seldom is everyone in attendance like-minded in matters of religion. Therefore, it is wise to be careful in this area and be sure not to bring discomfort to the family.

Inappropriate Memories or Anecdotes – A funeral is not the time or the place to reminisce about wild outings with the deceased or other stories that may not be appreciated by everyone in this somber setting. This is also not a place to air grievances with the deceased or take issue with certain aspects of his or her life. Revealing intimate details about the deceased is also inappropriate. Any anecdote should be considered as if the one eulogized would approve of it.

So...no jokes, anecdotes, religious references or accounts of his death during this period of mourning.

Ok...grieving is over.

Zultar,

I have nothing but respect for what you have created here and what you have worked so hard to build at Webdiplomacy. I have gotten great enjoyment out of the site and I will continue to do so, but I am going to have to ask that you reconsider this decision.

I recognize that Krellin has his faults. Sometimes he can be an instigator and he does not have much of a filter in what he says, but he does have positive traits as well and it seems detrimental to the site to ban people if it can possibly be avoided.

I ask that you at least take some time to reconsider this.

Respectfully,
Civwarbuff

This decision should seriously be reconsidered. This was simply not a banable offense and it is not just to punish him in this way, no matter what one's personal feelings may be.

A slap on the wrist seems sufficient.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether Krellin broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our site's mods- he did.

But you can't hold a whole online gaming fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole online gaming fraternity system? And if the whole online gaming fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of the internet in general? I put it to you - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
