Presidential Results Thread
They just went out on a limb and projected Georgia for Romney. Post your live results commentary here.

Even Fox has called the election to Obama.
Also Putin you do realize that Romney only go 52% of the male vote right? And that he is currently leading in the popular vote, right?
Yes, I'm sure California won't have any effect on those numbers
dubmdell (556 D)

My favorite moment in this election cycle was when the Republican nomination came down to the Mormon and the polygamist.
I'm sure it will Santa, but Republican numbers tend to tick up at the end because rural counties are usually the last to report in, and they trend heavily Republican. I think Romney has a valid shot at winning the popular vote, which will give Democrats some solace for 2000
Putin33 (111 D)

Rural counties are usually the first to report in. At least that's the case with Virginia, Ohio, and Florida. Urban counties have longer lines, more density per precinct.

My second favorite moment was when all the Bible-thumpers were voting for a non-Christian over a Christian.

Obama has just been given Colorado by NBC.

The LDS is Christian. It may not be Catholic or recognized as part of the Protestant reformation, but it is Christian.
ghug (5068 D(B))

@goldfinger, it actually seems like the rural counties have been reporting earlier tonight. Obama will also be making gains there on the West Coast, as has already been mentioned.
Really? Sorry, I was just going off NY and they had the reports in for the urban areas first. The only counties that aren't reported in are the rural (or devastated) ones. My bad
dubmdell (556 D)

Draug, the Bible-thumpers to which I refer do not consider Mormonism to be Christian. Therefore, in their minds, they were choosing between a non-Christian (Mormon) and a non-Christian (Muslim), when in reality, they were voting between a Christian (Mormon) and a Christian (non-denominational Christian). Please don't miss the joke just to be pedantic.
Putin33 (111 D)

The areas of Ohio which haven't reported are the areas around Cleveland, Toledo & Dayton.
ghug (5068 D(B))

So, how many more Senate seats are the Democrats going to win?
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 12 UTC
I know Toledo and Cleveland are generally Democrat. I'm not sure which way Dayton trends.
Cayuga county is the most Democrat county in the state
Putin33 (111 D)
07 Nov 12 UTC
Dayton voted for Obama in 2008, but not as heavily Dem as Toledo or Cleveland.
Putin33 (111 D)

*It's Cuyahoga County, Cayuga County is in NY. I know you downstate types don't travel west of the Hudson much.
Putin33 (111 D)

Toledo/Lucas County is also very Democrat - 65%+

Californian votes won't be counted until much later (vote-by-mail). This won't be that close.

@Santa - I voted for Johnson.
Draug- Thank you
Putin33 (111 D)
07 Nov 12 UTC
Nothing makes me smile like a Republican throwing his vote away.
@Santa - the only counties in NY that went red are rural. The fact that some rural counties went blue doesn't refute my point that rural counties are more republcan

I think picking Romney as a candidate just shows what a wonderful sense of humour the American Christian Fundamentalists and white bigots have. There must be a 'normal right-wing capitalist out there' to stand next time or are all right-wing Americans slightly out-of-touch and confused about religion and womens issues?

The actual result was so different from that predicted by the pollsters.
And yet the closer the media said the election was going to be the more money the candidates spent of advertising. Strange that.

51 States
I heard on the radio that there will be another non-binding vote in Puerto Rico to determine if they want to become a state. Other than the obvious problem of having a lot of out-dated flags, is there anyone who can tell me what the ramifications will be (for them as well as the current states)?

I've been following the US Presidential elections and I want to know what movie you think would fit this evening (evening in Europe being now). I already watched the American President and Primary Colors (during earlier election periods), what do you recommend?

Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But...
…I don't think I am.

Wasn't it the Republican party that said that Hurricane Sandy was going to decide the election by stalling Obama's campaign? If that's the case, why are they so reasonably, so honestly switching sides to gain sympathy? I mean, they've never done that before….
