The actual result was so different from that predicted by the pollsters.
And yet the closer the media said the election was going to be the more money the candidates spent of advertising. Strange that.

I heard on the radio that there will be another non-binding vote in Puerto Rico to determine if they want to become a state. Other than the obvious problem of having a lot of out-dated flags, is there anyone who can tell me what the ramifications will be (for them as well as the current states)?

Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But...
…I don't think I am.

Wasn't it the Republican party that said that Hurricane Sandy was going to decide the election by stalling Obama's campaign? If that's the case, why are they so reasonably, so honestly switching sides to gain sympathy? I mean, they've never done that before….
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
04 Nov 12 UTC
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/04/haley-barbour-storm-broke-romneys-momentum/?hpt=hp_t2

I am - obviously - being sarcastic, upon the point that the Republican party is also the one that calls every non-Republican favoring poll "biased" or "liberal" - or in some Bush administration members' minds, "fucking liberals" …… is this election just a dream or is it the most pointless, useless, and most incompetent election in recent history?
All you need to know i Romney didn't care about Pennsylvania until the prospect that the storm knocked out Philly and Eastern PAs voting infrastructure arose. Now he's a warrior for Pennsylvania.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
04 Nov 12 UTC
Santa, under the Electoral College, no candidate cares about a state that is already decided or doesn't matter in the election. Pennsylvania would have been decided if not for the storm. He is taking what is getting handed to him, and either it gets him the seat or it doesn't.
No shit. But human beings realize that is a very dirty trick.
Invictus (240 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
How is it a dirty trick? Is Romney a super-villain with a hurricane machine?
Taking advantage of the fact a hurricane devastated an American city to win the american presidency is low, very low
Invictus (240 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
Even accepting that that's what happening, what would you have him do? It's a political campaign, this is what happens. I guess Obama taking advantage of the fact that a financial collapse devastated the American economy was wrong too? You're being absurd.
Now invictus, I know you are a dumbshit conservative. But, pretending you had some integrity and brains, don't you think there is a HUGE difference between showing as a politician that you can handle a crisis well on the one hand, and taking advantage of the fact that a crisis might make it difficult or impossible to vote on the other?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
Santa, both candidates are "very low" as you would say. This election pisses me off… I'm 16 and I feel like I know more than half the country and that pisses me off. I genuinely want to leave, and it's not for money. Money fucking sucks. This whole system fucking sucks. It's not me looking at it as 16, it's me looking at it for what it is that all of you have been raised to accept. The things we'd do for a green piece of paper… it's shameful. Don't say it's Romney. It's Obama and every other politician in the fucking capitol.
A 16 year old that thinks he knows better than everyone else. What a shocker.

Both of the stupid fucks have been hanging out in Greayer Cincinnati/Dayton this weekend. Like, instead of touring Sandy's damage and doing what they can to help (even if it also gets them photo ops), they are stumping a major battleground state.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
Thank you, Draug. Santa, yeah, I'm right. You didn't make the world and you don't own it, so don't try. That sounds really simple to me. I know a few - a very select few - that agree, but if not, cool, you're just like the people I fuckin hate. So, please, go fuck yourself and post pictures on Facebook for me.
dubmdell (556 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
Bo, what would an ideal system look like, in your opinion? I have no intention of mocking your vision nor of tearing it apart. I'm genuinely curious what you would propose instead of "this whole [fucking] system."
FlemGem (1297 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
Or, if you can't change the whole system, what are you going to live your life for? You don't have to live your life for money like so many others do.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
A system where we revolve around our own sustenance and work for ourselves. That's how the whole world works. Environment before economy, family before anything else. What do you think the world is supposed to look like? No other creature builds skyscrapers and dumps shit into the atmosphere like mad. It's pretty simple, Dub. If you want to do it my way, you might as well throw this system away and assume that there is no system. Work on your own and join a pack if you need to do that. I don't care if there are cons because it's how everything else works.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
It's not that simple, Flem.. I have people that I am forced to live under. You think I can just walk out of this culture and say "fuck you, everyone" just because I want to do that? The police would find me, bring me back, and everyone would feel sorry for little me, so lost in his own delusions that he can't even realize what's important now. I mean, really, who wouldn't trade his life for a stack of paper?
Draugnar (0 DX)

"No other creature builds skyscrapers"

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! Ever seen a termite hill? Compared to the size of even the largest queen, if done to scale, there isn't a building in the world would come close.

No need to get testy. I didn't say I agree with the status quo, just wanted to see where you were coming from. I have no intention of stating a personal view in this line of question so as to stay (relatively) neutral.

Now I know you'll take this the wrong way, but that system you propose (work on your own, join a pack, family first) exists in quite a few African states. You really have your pick of climate, if you have a preference, and you also have a choice of language (I recommend one of the "click" languages).

But let me guess, I've misunderstood what you meant by throwing the whole system away and there being no system?
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Nov 12 UTC
@bo - First rule of reform is you do *not* dump it all and start over from scratch. You evaluate what parts still work and what parts are broken and you dispose of the *broken* parts only. Your way has everyone buying a new car every time the car runs out of gas because somethings wrong so we just throw it away and get another.
Jesus Christ, this kid is a stupider Obi. And that is saying something.

Its funny how being a white suburban teenager that never has had to worry about a thing makes you an expert on society and its ills.
"My Mom and Dad buy everything I need and I don't need much because I sit in front of the computer, so who needs a medium of exchange? Why can't everyone rely on the magical refillable refrigerator like me?

But back to reality, Pennsylvania was not a battleground state, the only thing that has possibly made it a battleground is the fact a super storm wreaked havoc on a populous, Democratic city that puts the democrats over the top. I hold the right to be pissed that Romney didn't skip a beat from forcing people to line up for an hour to ladle soup for a photo op to using the chaos in the wake of the storm to try to steal Pennsylvania.

and yes, I am quite aware in the context of American's politics that is quite naive, not Bo_Sox naive but naive nonetheless

"Like, instead of touring Sandy's damage and doing what they can to help (even if it also gets them photo ops), they are stumping a major battleground state."

GFY, while Romney was holding rallies in Florida, Obama spent valuable campaign time doing tours of New Jersey with Governor Christie. Seriously GFY.

Seriously, Putin. GFY. Dude, U know Romney continued stumping while Obamaspent a day touring Jersey. And I actually respect him for doing that day. But it was just one day. Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Nov 12 UTC
Oh and PuttyFY... Way to twist and selectively quote. Quoted in contect, I made it clear I was referring to this weekend. Here is the quote below for you to run by the two brain cells you can still get to fire neurons.

"Both of the stupid fucks have been hanging out in Greayer Cincinnati/Dayton this weekend. Like, instead of touring Sandy's damage and doing what they can to help (even if it also gets them photo ops), they are stumping a major battleground state. "
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

No, Draug, my system has you doing what nature tells you to do, and if there is oil 50 feet underground, it's intended to stay there.
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Nov 12 UTC
Then bo_sox, you have just sent us back hundreds of years. Plastics? No more. Metal alloys? No more. Electricity? No more. Between natural gas, oil, and coal, most of our energy needs and many of our manufacturing needs are supplied. And you can forget nuclear power as the materials refined are pulled from deep underground and very rare. Plastics are made from oil, so there goes any plastics. And metal alloys are typically forged in fire from superheated coal.

You need to learn more about the wordl we live in before you ban everything "non-natural". Is it natural for man to fly? How about the nomex fire retardant suits the firemen wear? They are made from fabricated materials not found in nature.

Seriously, do at least a *little* research about your stance before you spout it out. You would send us back to a time before machinery (oil is used to keep it running, even if electrical, as something has to lubricate the moving parts and even the teflon coatings and such are manufactured from oil, like the plastics are).
Invictus (240 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
bo_sox48 makes a lot more sense now that I know he's 16. Without exception, 16 year-olds are morons.
"No, Draug, my system has you doing what nature tells you to do, and if there is oil 50 feet underground, it's intended to stay there."

Wow
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
I don't respond to stereotypes… nobody needs a lecture on what's wrong with those.

Draug, I have personal stories as my research. I've stayed in a place without power and electricity and gas and things like that in a natural wonderland that people like to call the Coast Mountains for a month and it was amazing. I would love to live 10,000 feet above sea level on a mountain. If you don't, fine, but don't take that land away from people like me.
Then do it!
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Nov 12 UTC
That's the plan… unfortunately, as I've made note of a *few* times, I have things that I can't avoid, such as parents and child prisons, that prevent me from leaving this godforsaken place.
Invictus (240 D)
05 Nov 12 UTC
It's like Sicarius without the principles.
Draugnar (0 DX)
05 Nov 12 UTC
@bo - But your plan was to take that away from *everyone*. First, the genies out of the bag. Second, when you were staying in the mountains, what/how did you eat? If you fished a mountain lake, did you use a fiberglass pole and nylon monofilament? Throw those out. Or did you bring food with you and make trips down to the no longer stocked sotre because the goods couldn't be made without the bags and plastic bottles nor could they get delivered without the delivery trucks that run on diesel. And I hope you don't plan on having milk or anything else that requires refrigeration in the summer months, cause you won't have it without electricity.

I somehow doubt at 16 that you have ever truly roughed it like I did in the Marine Corps where I had to hunt for my food with nothing but a KBAR and then start a fire with flint and steel to cook it.

Did you take your iPod along? If so, how did you charge it if you didn't have electricity? One of those little solar panel chargers? Well, those things are made with plastics manufactured from oil as are many of the components within the iPod.
Bo_Sox. You won't. You are all talk
