Scottish MP on trial for lying
Here's a fascinating case. A Member of Parliament actually being taken to court for lying - and in his defence, admitting that he lied, but arguing that's just something politicians do, so he shouldn't be held to account for it.

Is it allowed for me to specifically join a game together with my friend(s), so we can work together and easily dominate a game? It's technically not multying yet I thought there was something against it in the rules.. Can't find it anymore though.

Facts based discussion on climate change
Nobody denies that the earth changes. Mountains form with shifting plate tectonics. We had an Ice Age, and then the Ice Age went away. All without man on the earth. Yes, climate changes. Let’s have a facts based discussion on climate change.

kas"do you agree that there's a scientific consensus on climate change? " Yes. but they are wrong. As I stated at the outset, climate changes. Show how man causes the change. There was an ice age, the ice age went away. All without man. Other than your religious belief in man made climate change, show how man's activities has any impact on the natural course of climate change.

It seems that you are the one with the religious belief, BOG. We've given you all the info that any sane, intelligent person would need to understand how anthropomorphic climate change works, but you seem hell bent on it being false.

yoyo "We've given you all the info that any sane, intelligent person would need to understand how anthropomorphic climate change works, but you seem hell bent on it being false." show it again. I seem to have missed it. Saying something does not make it true. Exactly how does man's activities warm the planet. How can man warm mars? how can man cool mercury?
Yoyoyozo (65 D)
03 Nov 15 UTC

Make Mars's atmosphere thicker and full of GHGs. The reason why Venus is warmer than Mercury, yet further away is because of its atmospheric composition.

Let me ask you this: Do you believe that Venus is warmer than Mercury? I certainly hope so. Why do you think that is? Hopefully the answer is it's atmosphere, which is thick of CO2.

Another question: If CO2 is the reason that Venus is so warm, would CO2 have the same effect here on Earth? One more: If CO2 can cause the earth to get warmer, Do you think that an organism that causes this atmospheric CO2 to be produced more rapidly will speed up the warming if the Earth?

Has BOG linked to scientific papers discussing the climate trends on other planets, by any chance? Even better would be surveys of the research on extraterrestrial climates.

I don't know how BOG has equated man-made global warming on Earth to alien-made global warming on Venus. But it's funny.

Sure, some fat slob sitting on his coach with random half baked thoughts has a better idea of what is true than the thousands of highly intelligent, highly trained dedicated scientists have concluded from over a century of scientific research.

Gentlemen: I give you the modern Republican Party. In my country, people of this can vote. Is there any surprise that the US is quickly turning into a shithole?

Gobble "I don't know how BOG has equated man-made global warming on Earth to alien-made global warming on Venus." Question: if the temperature on Venus moves in the same direction as the temperature on earth, how does man's activities affect climate change? A simple question.

1+1 = 2
1+2 = 3
Adding 1 and 2 both increase the result
therefore 1 = 2

BOG - here is a graph of temperature and atmospheric CO2 concentration over time, using data from ice cores in Greenland.

http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/400000yearslarge1.gif?w=720

I got a link from it on an outside site, since not everyone has access to academic journal articles, but the citation is Shakun et al. (2012), Nature.

So this is facts. CO2 is correlated with temperature change.

That's a really cool link there, Ogion. I don't know whether I should be happy or sad that academic journal writing styles haven't chanced in the past 120 years. Its cool though that the leading scientists of the time were figuring this out in the 19th century.
Lethologica (203 D)

Until further notice, I'm going to take BOG's lack of response as 'no, I haven't linked any scientific research on extraterrestrial climates, and I'm not going to.' So BOG's assertions about equivalence between Earth's temperature trends and extraterrestrial climate trends are worth their weight in gold.
Ogion (3882 D)
03 Nov 15 UTC
Yep. Arrhenius' estimate of the climate sensitivity (the rise in temperature per increase in CO2) was remarkably close to the consensus today. But yes, bad writing dies hard.

Why the college football Playoff committee should be fired
Biggest cause for concern I have in year 2 of this so called "system" is that for the first 4 weeks of these people sitting down to rank everyone they come up with even worse logic than the coaches and AP polls.
I realize you cant get everything right all the time, but this years first ranking feels more like a house of cards just begging to be knocked down.
