BNP Paribas extorted by US government for $9 billion fine
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this.

US crushed French bank even though it violated no international, or bilateral law, simply because trade is done in dollars. This is abuse of power and signifies that the US no longer upholds a free trade system. It will use the fact that trade is done in dollars to destroy people even if they broke no law.

Essay writing tips
We had fiction, so non-fiction now. Sometimes I really struggle to maintain structure for 10-15,000 words and ramble off in another direction. How do you write a clear concise essay?

But there seems to be a fair bit of misogyny in some posts. All in jest, but still, some posts that are misogynistic in nature. I'm curious as to whether there would be so many if there were more women on the site.

English Writing Skills Thread
Discuss skills that help you write good prose and poetry.

I'll start:
If you are trying to write an argumentative piece, it helps a lot to be concise. A long-winded piece that just says the same thing in ten different ways just leads readers astray.

Sandbox
I used to play on an online diplomacy site that had a sandbox. Is it possible to get one on this site, even if just for classic. I looked on the todo list and saw nothing in reference to it.

Obiwan where are you?!
I just finished watching Joss Whedon's production of Much Ado About Nothing and wanted to learn if you had seen it and what your impression was if you had. I quite enjoyed it and felt it was, at the least, comparable to Branagh's version.

Dead Children = Liberal Compassion
Truth in Action - One of the brilliant ideas of Libtards is "open borders"...it's compassionate. Everyone deserves blah blah blah. Yeah, but there are CONSEQUENCES: ** Dead CHILDREN on the shores of the Rio Grande **

Holy equivocation, Batman!

krellin, when I write "politics" I'm not talking about Democrats vs. Republicans promising tax cuts and spending increases to get elected. I'm talking about a group of people who share a common trait trying to gain enough prominence and power within society to advance their interests
krellin (80 DX)
14 Jul 14 UTC
pangloss -- I useded YOUR words, pal, you can't escape them now that you've been nailed to your hypocritical cross. You can't evade the truth of what you said. As for "group of people that share a common trait"....oh, I see, so you believe that "a “group of people sharing a common trait” have a right to behave differently than a group that does not share this trait, huh? Like I said…you’re a fucking bigot.

Ghuggy baby…I’ll stop as soon as ONE single Libtard complies to my wishes, and drops their Libtard political affiliations for just a brief moment, and admits that DEAD CHILDREN are the result of Obama’s policy, and that we need investigations, by the media and government, and that you are at least saddened, if not outraged. Come on, ghuggy baby….just once, show a little human decency, man!

Do intentions matter, Krellin?

Like, when I call you honeypie does it have a different meaning than when your make-believe wife calls you honeypie? Or are words devoid of context?

Ok, back to the OP. Krellin, have you ignored the fact that, as has been pointed out, if there are any dead babies, they may actually be the result of a policy introducted by George W. Bush? Does he fall under your definition of Libtard now?

Answering a question about a complex political issue is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You have to be careful, giving just the right amount of attention to make it flowing hot, and then publish the results on the Internet for everyone to see.

Again I'll re-iterate, why are civil issues in Honduras or Nicaragua or any other country our issue?

Many were angry and outraged that we intervened in countries like Iraq, and yet you want us to intervene in this situation? Not exactly the same, but it's weird that this is our responsibility, when that was not.

Let other countries sort themselves out.

Chaqa - and if cvil issues in Honduras are of such great concern to the US Then why were the Libtards so angry about getting involved in issues in the Middle East? Why, again, such selective outrage?

But rape rooms in Honduras...Baaaa-ad....

Chaqa, maybe some of us are human beings who consider any human tragedy to be a problem for all of us? "any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."

krellin (80 DX)
14 Jul 14 UTC
ckroberts....oh....but...if I do recall correctly, you don't care about the DEAD CHILD IN THE RIO GRANDE.

therefore, we can only assume that ckroberts views dark-skinned children as....what? sub-human? Since clearly he is not outraged at the dead dark-skinned child...

@ck, just because we don't want to do anything about it, for many reasons ,doesn't mean we don't empathize with them
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
14 Jul 14 UTC
@ck: It's not that I don't care. It's that we cannot stop every injustice in the world. At some point, the people of any community have to stand up for themselves and say no. Whether it's in the Middle East, the Ukraine, South America, or even here... we can't get involved everywhere.
ckroberts (3548 D)
14 Jul 14 UTC
krellin let me see if I can figure out what you arguing here, to see if I can figure out why people are inexplicably supporting this.

Some libtards, people who agree uniformly on everything (like me and Putin and Jamie, three ideological birds of a feather) have created an open border policy which has led to dead children on the American border; the primarily responsible party is the Obama administration. These same libtards are ensuring that the media does not report this story, and these libtards are even going so far as to deny that these deaths are in any sense a tragedy.

As best I can tell, absolutely nothing about this is correct.
ckroberts (3548 D)
14 Jul 14 UTC
ssoren, if you were a little more subtle, I'd call this: "just because we don't want to do anything about it, for many reasons ,doesn't mean we don't empathize with them" truly genius satire. But I think that's what you genuinely think.

Chaqa, the government and many of its supporters are actively denying you or me or anyone else the capacity to best help. That is my objection.

Obama opens a bank vaults, says "I've got free money here for you...and we won't enforce any laws if you want to come get some..."

and then the Libtards scratch their head in wonder when there is a riot outside the bank...

Morons.

There is a case going on in the UK about whether our surveillance service have broken any laws. As they can't confirm or deny what they have done the case is proceeding based on "agreed hypothetical facts". Is this bending the language too far?
