Maybe in the future they will read this thread in awe.

On global flooding I agree, as long as you add, ironically, water shortage in the poorer regions of the world, which in many ways are already experiencing the next "big disaster" as we sit here discussing it mostly in oblivion.

My prediction for the next 200 years:
2014, then 2015, then 2016, then 2017, then 2018, then 2019, then 2020, then 2021, then 2022, then 2023, then 2024, then 2025, then 2026, then 2027, then 2028, then 2029...
ILN (100 D)

solution to water shortage?
1.create infrastructure.
2.move the fuck away to somewhere else, no one is forcing you to lack water.

I'm not. Humans have always migrated to areas that provided more food, water etc. Now for some reason, they like to live in the middle of the desert,or in drought striken areas and complain about lack of water. Lol morons. All you need to do, is hop on a boat, and hope you'll land somewhere in Scandinavia.

Like I've said before, predicting out on time scales like this are wastes of time.

But to play along, again, I say we'll either be god-like cyborgs who have colonized the entire inner solar system or will have destroyed at least civilization, if not all life on Earth, in a nuclear war.
ILN (100 D)
07 Nov 13 UTC
All life cannot die in a nuclear war. Bacteria will always survive.
ILN (100 D)

And plus, if a nuclear war does happen, just live somewhere in the pacific, and don't eat any fish. People won't just fire nukes randomly all over tha fucking place, they have targets, like big cities n shit. No one cares about the Polynesians.

I don't know exactly what's going to happen, but Western Civilization is going to get really ugly before it gets better.

“And what physicians say about disease is applicable here: that at the beginning a disease is easy to cure but difficult to diagnose; but as time passes, not having been treated or recognized at the outset, it becomes easy to diagnose but difficult to cure. The same thing occurs in affairs of state; for by recognizing from afar the diseases that are spreading in the state (which is a gift given only to a prudent ruler), they can be cured quickly; but when they are not recognized and are left to grow to the extent that everyone recognizes them, there is no longer any cure.” -- Niccolo Machiavelli

Mostly because flying cars are a terrible, terrible idea.
krellin (80 DX)
08 Nov 13 UTC
Oh, the world is fullllll of terrible ideas that have come to fruition and flourished. I rather like the idea of opening up a few new lanes of traffic vertically and reaching my destination faster.

But, generally speaking, the problem with the flying car is probably more one of available cheap power. The technology, particularly given a few more years of tech advances, is totally feasible. Triple redundant systems, computer guidance to take drunk fliers our of the equation, etc...I don't think it's such a terrible idea.

Would there be the occasional aircar dropping out of the sky? Sure...but we also have massive car crashes and multiple deaths with individual vehicles, so it's just a trade-off.

Yes...automated vehicle traffic will dramatically cut down on car crashes, too...but I still want my flying car!

The world will be run by criminal syndicates and mafia rather than governments. Liberal democracy will be dead by 2100 as it is unable to cope with crisis. More authoritarian arrangements won't be possible because of popular opposition and the widespread availability of small arms. People will become dumber as they rely on technology rather than their own brain or effort to learn. Their attention spans will disappear and will have an insatiable lust for instant gratification. Civil wars will become normal. Terrorism will become normal. Violent crime will become normal. People will not socialize. Brick and mortar restaurants, stores, bars, malls, and other meeting-places of consumption will disappear. Mental illness will increase. Extinct diseases will return. Every city will become a haze of smog & sprawl. The environment will be annihilated. No mammals of any size will exist in the wild. The population will be 12 billion. There will be no revolution in transportation or communication technology, because there will be no governments to provide the infrastructure necessary.
Besides the liberal democracy being dead thing, I could see a lot of that happening, Putin. Mental illness is already on the rise as people are losing their connections with each other.

You're right Nigee. Likely marriage and/or long-term relationships will become increasingly rare, so prostitution or other arrangements will fill the gap. The family as we know it will be dead or close to it.

No, Putin, it's not self-fulfilling. If I were lacking in self fulfillment I wouldn't partake in this forum. This place is certainly no therapy office. But you have to get your jabs in when you see an opening; it's in your nature.

Without bad guys on here it won't be long before us nice guys turn on each other, it's dog eat dog.
Putin33 (111 D)
08 Nov 13 UTC
You misunderstand me. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy in the sense that, your (and others) extreme cynicism about government helps render it ineffective, thus leading to the day when indeed it does become replaced by something worse. Not really a jab, or at least not in the sense you seem to be thinking. If you take offense that not everybody is applauding your reflective dislike of government I don't know what to say.

Real life mute function
Wouldn't it be great if there was a mute function in REAL LIFE?

Like, if I could choose not to hear any "news" story or generally any mention whatsoever of Miley Cyrus. That would be great.

If a friend of mine, who also lives close to me, makes a webdip account, would it find out we are so close, and say we are cheating? Would be able to be in the same game, as long as we were not talking outside the game about it, and it was anon so we didn't know who each other were.
