I love the shit here in the forum. I'm almost done with school, so after this post, I am asking goldfinger to amplify me for a period of no less than one year. I feel after all my contributions my posts here deserve to be printed in fontsize+5 (not Arial). I'll use the time to teach you all on conservative values.

Adobe data theft exposes widespread problem of weak passwords
Apparently the most popular password among Adobe users was "123456" - (LINK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24821528)

What's YOUR WebDip password? Do you have a more secure one than that? Post it here and we'll see if the forum agrees!

Western Spring (as opposed to Arab Spring)
How long until we really start to get rid of our own tyrants?

Just curious what people think and all... Also trying to have some compassion for the Arabs because right now it's just one of those things happening somewhere in the east for me... It would come much closer if I see what this would mean in the west I suppose... Discuss.

Draugnar,

you have been silenced for willfully ignoring the requests of the moderators. You are free to take up the issue with Kestas by email. You are free to discuss moderator policy when your silencing is over. Even then, you are free to disagree. You are NOT free to ignore the requests by moderators, that are aimed to keep the site accessible to all and free from cheaters.

Your silence will last 48 hours, or until you answer the emails you received from the mods and from Kestas.

I should add that if you value a limited role for mods to catch cheaters only, you would do well to not busy them with secondary activities such as policing the forum. The less reason you give to do that, the more they can focus on keeping the site cheater-free.

Guys I must stress once again that todays post is tomorrows chip wrappings, nobody really cares what Draug posts but if you check out his '+1's' a lot of people find him entertaining for better or worse.
If people don't like him or what he posts they can mute him which is very simple and easy to do.
I agree that links to excessive pornographic material is not really what this site is about but time and time again we preach forum self-regulation.
Everybody knows that if you at work you should not be accessing websites with possible dubious content so of course the way forward here is do not click these links to external sites if you are actually coming on to webdip to play Diplomacy.
Here is a link to a youtube link to an RESPECT video that maybe both Mods and Forum posters should check out ........ chill pills all around methinks and remove Draugnars silencing please.
Meanwhile check out the 2 Rays .....

It seems like ever since the mods announced there was a line to be crossed, people have been trying to cross it.

Seriously though, it's always a tricky issue where to draw the line (ask Obama). We've seen many examples come by the last week. But ultimately there always is a line to draw, and a call to be made.

The mods have a limited mission which is trying to keep the site enjoyable for all, and cheater-free. We welcome discussion about policy, so if any of you have an issue about mod policy, feel free to mail the mods and/or Kestas about it.
Damn Nigee, that link.

"We all need to take a long hard look at ourselves"

I only come on the forum seeking out the rage and crazy comments and humour and insults because it is actually funny and entertaining. (To be fair that Robin Thick video ain't bad, some very artistic dance moves in there).
If we were all reasonable and meaningful and worthy there would be no-one on this forum , we would have to rename it by sticking a v in front of it ..... vive la difference.
Why do we like the Mods, because they sort out the Cheaters & Megas, that is what they do well, that is what they do best.
Think about this TMOW, if you had been called away tonight to a family emergency or a real-life crisis none of this thread, this website or Draugs posts would matter in the slightest to you ...... this is how forum posters feel about people posts, we don't care, it's not important, we all have real lives we can lead once we have come on here, ranted a bit and then gone outside and thrown stones at the moon.
We must always beware about taking ourselves too seriously, I would rather see Mods comment on bad forum etiquette, not ban people. Through dialogue that is how we end up with a Diplomatic solution.
You are forcing Draug to the Dark Side ..... this is a microcosm of how Al Qaeda formed as a direct result of US foreign policy, you are making a martyr here, Draug will go underground and become a forum terrorist, he will join the revolution with Blankflag until they bring down the dictatorial jmo and all of his evil henchman.
I would rather have him on the site where we can closely monitor his activities, obviously keep all of his personal records for the NSA should he become a national security threat.

Draug needs our love now, are you willing to stand by his side and hold his hand?
@Nigee, I would agree if there were not real people who mention they do mind the offensive content (by Draug and others). But there are, and they do. Your assumption that nobody minds is not true.

By your rationale, we should let Al Qaeda roam free so that they may in the end... love us?

But Minister, that is the beauty of the mute button, you don't like someone, mute them.
People come on this forum to be insulted, to be angry, it's an outlet for the.
Yu have to question why people that are easily offended would be on this forum in the first place ..... please don't pander to the broken-hearted, they're lovin' it !!
With regard to anyone roaming free in this world the NSA has proven the point that 'man is born free but everywhere is in chains'.
Nobody is safe, no matter what country, we are all being monitored, ex-pats like Draug we have to keep an eye on, we can't let him go Rambo on us.
Nigee......is making serious, thoughtful comments. And created a thread that isn't a horrible joke. Something must be going awfully wrong.

Did Draug seriously get silenced for posting a Miley Cyrus video clip????

I get the whole don't post links to porn thing. But I suggest if you don't want to see porn, and if think a link might be porn, don't copy/paste the URL into the address bar of your browser. Simple.
No, that wasn't why he was silenced, spyman. He's been ignoring moderator email
orathaic (1009 D(B))
05 Nov 13 UTC
Spyman, i think the point is, mods were implementing a rule to ban porn links (so they could browse webdip from work, without getting hit by work filters - and not needing to use a proxy) so they were checking links which were posted.

And now fake links were auto-transfering to suggestions... Meaning even fake porn links are a problem.
spyman (424 D(G))

Respectfully it sounds like a non-issue to me. Ban porn links by all mean, officially, but don't feel you have to actually investigate it. If a user brings it to your attention and confirm that it was in fact porn, then take action (if you can be bothered).

"And now fake links were auto-transfering to suggestions... Meaning even fake porn links are a problem. "

Wow we're really sliding down a slippery slope with that one. lol.

Good job mods on banning that fool blankflag, btw. He was a spammer of the first order. Draug and YJ aren't like that. They're more the forum jesters. Laugh if you find it funny, mute if you find it offensive, or just ignore.
spyman (424 D(G))

Regarding work filters - do these scan webdip for the presence of links? And then filter them if they find anything dodgy? If that is the case there is bound to be content that filters could find objectionable aside from porn links. Also none of the posted links are actually live links - that you can actually click on.

I would have thought the main reason webdip might excluded by internet filters at work would be because it is a gaming site.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

'Regarding work filters - do these scan webdip for the presence of links? And then filter them if they find anything dodgy?'

- i have had intermittent trouble accessing the forum from behind school filters, triggering various keywords. I think on violence or sexual content (though i suspect some schools also ban games...)

In Holland, the downward economic spiral has led to massive cuts in defense. I wonder if that shouldn't be preceded by a thorough and nation-wide conversation about this topic, that I believe many countries are currently dealing with. In this thread, we discuss the future of the armed forces.

We should have a triple secret probationary silence on the site.
While the subject is light hearted Animal House sounding, I mean it when I say it. If the system had a way to silence forum posters posts without indicating to them they were silenced (kind of a universal mute) then people like blankflag could be secretly silenced and the good boys and girls of the forum wouldn't have to put up with him trying to come back in under a different name.

NFL Pick 'em: Week 9--Who's Prime for a Trick, Who's Due for a Treat?
If the playoffs were to start today, the Cowboys would be due to play the Niners (yet again) and the Packers would play the Lions in the NFC Wild Card, Saints and Seahawks with byes, while in the AFC, the Colts and Broncos would match-up again and the Patriots would play the Jets (!) as the Bengals (!) and Chiefs (!!!) enjoyed byes. Such is the way the first half has shaken out...so, at the halfway point, Week 9--PICK 'EM!
