Yea, I think most of the people who are within range of inactive are still 'here' but the interest in the game has definitely died off (from the majority of the players), its quite unfortunate.

The thing about this game was that it sucked? Monotonic bureaucracy was interesting for a while because it was different, but at some point you realize that you're playing a game that consists only of monotonic bureaucracy and it loses that shine.

I think it would be more fun if the dice rolling were kept as the core mechanic so that the game would progress instead of just eliminating it immediately.

ghug is kind of right, we need a point scoring possibility apart from +1s. i suggest my "nomic diplomacy" rule, we can still play on ancient med if we have too little a number of players.

Atrum, having looked back, I possibly shouldn't have used the word "explicitly." Nobody said, "We don't want fun."

However, there was an expression that what we want is "nice and neat bureaucracy." That surprised me, but I stuck around quite awhile thereafter thinking maybe there was some way that could be more fun than it sounded. There was not. I still never deliberately decided to leave -- this thread just completely left my list of priorities, because I derived no enjoyment from it at all.

I think that might be the only way to have fun in such a setting. I'm open to other possibilities, of course, and it's certainly not that I left because I was annoyed at what happened to that or any other motion. I just drifted off because I found the game unspeakably banal and awful.

the game is, in a way, banal. it is somehow just like cookie clicker: you make rules so you can make even more rules. but that's what this game is about.

(Meaning no offense -- the last part might have come off as harsh. I wish no nomic members ill will, and hope that you all are and continue to have a wonderful time. I simply did not).

*shrug* It can be. It could also have been about chaos. That's up to the players, isn't it? There are some directions that the game could have gone that would have been exciting. I did not enjoy this (and would not enjoy cookie clicker).

Interesting. I had actually thought it was a neat little system we had going, the problem I saw was when people started disappearing, or rushing through 'legislation' (since this kind of became a game of politics). I guess to each his/her own. Personally, I would've liked to see this game continue because eventually people would start forming pseudo alliances to get points based proposals pushed through (similar to Jamiet's one early on).

I definitely think we should've found a way to incorporate the actual Diplomacy games into this game, it would've been really interesting that way.

Well, please, don't let me rain on the game with my negativity. If some of you enjoyed or are still enjoying the game, that may well just be because different people enjoy different games, for which, thank goodness. Sorry if I was harsh. I *did* enjoy that people were putting a lot into the game, and everybody made some fun points along the way, so I hope that those who did enjoy it will keep going without me / us who left. I just wanted to address why I left, and probably got carried away.

@kasimax While it would be interesting to see how this game continues with 2 players, it would be odd because there is no advantage to be gained. If there were 3 players, the game would still be manageable since you could push legislation through without a unanimous vote.

@Atrum, kasimax: Why don't you two just pass a rule that the last member to post wins? This thread can still establish itself in the pantheon of long-lasting and annoying webdip threads.

Haha, that would be one way to do it I suppose. Or you know, you can always do a joint-victory and just say:

"I Propose that anyone who votes aye for this proposal has their Nomic Pointz immediately set to 500, and jointly wins the game."
