And as far as FTF charm goes, I don't expect to win any of my games. I can't speak for dj, but if you dudes are expecting me to be some hot young chick, then you will shocked to see me, just keep in mind that I have recently become a grandmother!

Down 14 spots. And it'll probably be another down month this next one. Volunteering to help substitute in master games has been my undoing.

I stopped filling CDs to help a game keep going for just that reason. It started affecting my GR even more when they were CDs in low ranked games so that I was giving my GR for an odd chance of getting even less (or even losing some) if I did participate in a draw.

@Draugnar: I agree with this point entirely. It's a shame though, as I think filling in for CD player is worthwhile to help keep games going and the other players generally really appreciate it.

And I would do it more if it didn't hurt my GR. I don't mind losing a few dip points to help the community, but throwing 2/35th of my GR in to fill a 1 or 2 SC position and help a game... No. Especially as the guy who CD'd doesn't lose any GR at all.

Absolutely. It would be nice if a person filling the place of a CD'd player could have their GR contribution halved. And the person who CDs should forfeit their GR contribution in the same way that they forfeit their points.

Better to have the person filling the position not have their GR affected at all, IMHO, and to put it all on the original person. webdip would have to be modified to keep track of the original player for the ghost rating calculation program to be able to adjust for that though.

You might end up with some cases where a quitter gets some credit for the replacement player getting in on a draw. But it avoids the replacement player taking a hit for trying to help out.

The current CD takeover system is ok. Probably a third of all my games are takeovers. Pick better.

I do wonder how CDs are set in the DB. If you can determine if you are a replacement player, it shouldn't be tough to fix the formula to discount this. I should take a poke at TGM and see what he says.

Yours is a special case - and I would have suggested creating a dummy account for thus purpose. I meant that in general CDs should be more expensive, as they are now.

@Ivo - that's fine if your picking to try to get a win. FK and I do it to help make a better game for the community at large knowing we aren't likely to survive.

And the CD player don't lose any GR as GR is computed at the end of the game from the people who held the nations at that time. Once replaced, GR knows nothing about the CD player.

The only way this info is stored is through backups.

The easiest way to troll for if someone was a replacement is if their bet is not the same as the other players.
