Joinable Games
Currently the Games window shows that there are 101 Joinable Games. However, when I select the Joinable Games tab I find only 3. There are supposedly 11 pages worth but anything after the first page is empty.

Can anyone explain this discrepancy to me?

Beginner question regarding the capture of supply centers
I thought I might find the answer to this somewhere in FAQ, but alas I could not. So, my question is: if an army/fleet moves into a territory with a supply center during the Spring, then moves out during the Fall, is that center considered yours?

Why was my support move blocked here?
http://webdiplomacy.net/map.php?gameID=201965&turn=11&mapType=large
I'm kind of a noob so this might be a dumb question.
I'm playing as France. The relevant bit is the move the army at Kiel support move to Denmark from Heligoland Bight. This fails because of Germany's move to Kiel from Munich, but Munich can't move there since it's being dislodged. Shouldn't my support move work since the Munich army is being attacked?

.. and perhaps longer if I can find a cheap place to stay or it's too fun to leave. I know that some of my webdip friends (and other webdippers probably) are from London, so if anyone wants to message me to see if we can meet up, exchange tips or even let me stay at your place for a while, please feel free! I'd love to meet some of you in person.

Actually, the leading defense of my freedoms against tyranny is from.... lawyers. The US military provides very little protection whatsoever despite the fairy tales people in the military likes to tell. What? We are going to be invaded by Canada? We should be so lucky. If you look at who the US military has bombed the shit out of in the last 30 years, almost none, or actually none, have represented any kind of security threat whatsoever. This mythical tyrant who would invade is just that. Mythical.

increasingly it seems military people are rather pro tyrant as a population, such that I fear he US military rather more than any external threat. Mostly, the Us military is vastly bloated so as to funnel money to defense contractors and naturally to justify that we need to spend absurd levels of GDP on fancy toys and lavish benefits.
Humanitarian works is mostly done by, well, humanitarians. There are some instance where the military doesn't a few decent things, but this glorification of the military in the US is ridiculously overblown.

"increasingly it seems military people are rather pro tyrant as a population"

Increasingly, it seems you're out of touch.

The people who run the military and make choices about what to do the military force are politicians and presidents.

The people IN the military who vote overwhelmingly for politicians who want to undercut civil rights, first amendment and fourth amendment rights and the like are the problem.

Ogion... i don't know where to start with you. but let's start with these two:

Octavious (2701 D)

So to summarise what Ogion is saying, people with different beliefs to his own are the problem. It's good to see that tolerance is alive and well in the American hard left :p.

Still, if blaming the military for every poorly thought out foreign policy initiative helps people like Ogi sleep at night, then so be it. If the American people had elected politicians determined not to fight foreign wars then the US military wouldn't have bombed the crap out of anyone. Whether the world would have been a better place for it is another question entirely.

It does warm the heart, however, that the majority of Americans have the capacity to recognise that offering respect to those asked to take massive risks to carry out the people's will is right and proper. The covenant is firmly rooted in the soul of America.

It's just too simplistic to lump the different nation's military into one group with a monolithic set of values. As to this idea that lawyers are solely responsible for delivering protected rights and freedoms, let's just consider Magna Carta...it only comes into existence because a powerful group formed a military alliance and fought their monarch, a tyrant.
Sgt242 (1143 D)

Lawyers do have their place in protecting rights and fredoms but that usually comes after some sort of military sacrifice to help put those rights in place. I do question the motives of some lawyers due to the large amount they charge individuals or groups to protect their freedoms in a court of law. I don't question as much the motives of our military as much. The individual military person is not doing what they do for the money. Then there are the politicians who the majority of hold law degrees.
Ogion (3882 D)

Good to see Octavious demonstrate that reading comprehension is still weak amongst conservatives
In fact, people voting in large numbers for politicians who work to disenfranchise Americans , make LGBT people second class citizens, to deride and muzzle the press, to build a surveillance state, support police militarization, suggest that rights (except the second() are too extensive, enact racist policies, etc are the problem. If one is attempting to defend these things, all of which are inimical to a functioning democracy, then yes, those voters are part of their problem, if you see the problem as encroachment by totalitarian modes of governance.

Whether I agree or not is immaterial. If you look to what is realistically a threat to american democracy it isn't from foreign powers, it is from the lack of support for democratic principles by large sections of the public. If one views tyranny as a problem, then people advocating for it are logically part of that problem.

I'm sure that that's too complicated reasoning for your brain to handle though

Massive risks? That's absurd. Farmers take far greater risks every damn day doing something absolutely fundamental. Why don't we have two national holidays celebrating them? They're way more important and doing far more dangerous work

And no, most countries don't originate in some kind of war. Rights are secured through a political proces. Wars are invariably destructive to rights until political processes get going.

The military aren't there for the money?!? Ooh! There went your credibility. Hell, yes they're in it for the money. And the training and housing and education and health care. Just look at the recruiting strategies.

For example the military touts how much better the salary and benefits are than the private sector equivalents

https://m.goarmy.com/benefits/total-compensation.m.html

Note that the median lawyer salary in the us is $81,000
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Attorney_%2F_Lawyer/Salary

The congressional budget office estimates the average military compensation is $99,000.
http://work.chron.com/average-salary-us-soldier-9060.html

Yeah, if those lawyers are money hungry, they sure suck at it compared to the gold plated military.

TrPrado. Yes, a rebellion over taxes and slavery. Because we were clearly breaking away from a country that today is marked by tyranny and oppression. Oh wait.
TrPrado (461 D)

"Wars are invariably destructive to rights until political processes get going."

I agree with the first half of this. However, the central infringement of rights comes from those in the political process who chose to start the war.

Just because those benefits exist doesn't mean that's why they all are there.

Lawyer salaries have been lower than military ones for ages. So, no.

And you just reinforced my point. It is the folks supporting militarization and jumping into wars that eliminate rights (and not even in the invading country. Rights are flimsy in Iraq and Syria these days). And gee, look who is the most rahrah about starting new wars and who votes for those guys. ;)

Should 100% be put together they involve next no strategy and are quite frankly boring. I think the reason that this isn't the case as it could be confusing how ever a bit of graphic design would fix that e.g BUILD in bold and underneath that are build options and under that RETREAT in bold and under that are your retreat options

Is that allowed in the rules? Ie. in an anonymous game, Italy is betrayed by Russia, so posts a link to an image posting site which shows the chat between the two? It seems like it shouldn't be but I can't see where it's prohibited.

Ghost rating question
I read the explanation on the GR website. I get that eliminating players in WTA improves the GR gain.
Do I understand correctly that an effort was made to make the GR score in SoS games based on centre count, but not implemented ultimately? So one should still kill off small powers (at the expense of centres elsewhere) to improve GR gains?

I'm not entirely the "cancel" button does. It seems to have no propose to me. But one button I do recommend is a "kick" button for inactive players as they severely slow the game down. Of course, be a minimum time or number of turns before it's an option.
