I'm here because they offered me more money than the other schools and my family pays less here than they would have elsewhere on my list after my shot at a baseball scholarship went up in smoke and scar tissue. I'm lucky enough to have a family that saved up and was able to help me and I'll graduate debt free as a result. There are students and families here that pay 50-55 base before other costs and it never ceases to amaze me. I'm from an affluent area but not affluent like that.

Yeah, someone has to pay for it. We all pay for it. Instead of going out for a steak dinner on our anniversary, we go get burgers instead. Between all 200-plus million of us that pay taxes, that's a lot of money.

But you know who could pay for it? People with lots and lots of money. If trickle down economics worked, then the economy would trickle down, but the economy doesn't trickle down because the real way to make money trickle down is through taxes. Mindfuck, right?

I'm from a white middle-class family, so I've never really gotten anything from government money, so if you're insinuating that from saying my existence proves a waste of government money on inefficient governing, that'd be wrong. In the ones I have done, I believe I've said we should allow private entities to spend money on space shit instead of NASA, and that welfare costs too much and that a better system should replace it.
