Question - I don't understand what I did wrong.
Modern Diplomacy II Map - I'm Spain, I have a fleet Seville, Sea of Gibraltar, and an army in Gibraltar. The UK has a fleet in Morocco and that's it. Our fleets bounced in the South Atlantic Sea, I attempted to convoy my army from Gibraltar to Algeria... but it failed.. So why did it fail if the other player didn't touch my unit in Gibraltar & the Sea of Gibraltar?

anyone up for a game of nomic?
from wikipedia: "nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. in that respect it differs from almost every other game. the primary activity of nomic is proposing changes in the rules, debating the wisdom of changing them in that way, voting on the changes, deciding what can and cannot be done afterwards, and doing it. even this core of the game, of course, can be changed."

Have read up. While interesting to note some inconsistencies in the stories, this is hardly a smoking gun. In fact, it reads a bit like the evidence linking Bush to the Twin Towers.

I'd be interested to see some genuine historical research into this (including forgery experts and actual archive access). Without that, this is just another conspiracy theory which, frankly, does no favours to the image of the Red Army at all.

@Putin33 It's not that something you believe is controversial, it's that *everything* you believe is controversial, and set in stone.

@Putin33 Yes, I'm resorting to ad-hominem, but, I can't think of an opinion you've expressed that isn't shocking. The man in this case matters because you've got far, far more endurance than I (or most people) do when it comes to not giving any ground, and continuing the attack. Not sure that anyone learns anything though. If I had to bet, I would bet you will not definitively lose this argument. Have fun!

I didn't initiate this "attack". Not sure you're interested in learning anything. You seem much more interested in ensuring everyone adheres to your interpretation of what constitutes acceptable opinions.

"Stop playing the man instead of the ball, tendmote. If you are interested in improving the tonality of discourse here, you're not helping. You don't know everything I believe."

Take whatever the conventional view on something is, invert it...poof. Your opinion, Putin...

On everything from art (your stance on Shakespeare, on Orwell, arguing the Crickets are vastly superior/more important than the Beatles, etc.) to your politics (just to get my "cleanse" again, to use your term, you advocate/like Stalin, Putin, the Kim Dynasty in North Korea, Assad, internationally-recognized terrorist groups...I like Israel, but that's ONE controversial power, you love a bunch and blast nations that others here would like to boot) and so on and so on.

I could say the sky is blue, and you'd explain it's all a Western capitalist ploy, and that it's really red.

You're not exactly hard to peg, Putin. Neither am I, but at least I'm open about it.

Quit pretending you're a mystery...you're the Leftist krellin of the site.

(And you improve the tonality of discourse so much...why, every thread you comment on, the tone is just so light and happy and doesn't ever devolve into you smugly taking the opposite stance on everything...again, pot calling the kettle black, but at least this pot knows he's...erm, well, very, very pale, actually, but the metaphor stands.)

"Politics is unfair. Nazi Germany had the leverage. The Jews should have accepted the deal the Nazis were offering them."

1. If the Israelis start throwing Palestinians into ovens and gas chambers, I'll join you against them, Jamiet.

2. The Jews never threatened to "exterminate every German to the last one" either, Jamiet...nor did they not only commit terrorist actions, but openly declare that every German was a target, and that it was God's will to kill all Germans...

See, that kind of language...that it's part of a higher plan to kill a set group...

See, that KIND of sounds like Hamas saying Allah wants the world to exterminate the Jews...kinda why I don't sympathize with them, shockingly enough...

Oh, and another thing? Nazi Germany? Never offered the Jews a STATE.

It's one thing to take a bad deal when that deal is less land than you've wanted for 67 years of a losing war, it's another when the deal is "Get in the gas chamber or I shoot you in the head."

Any Israeli making THAT deal to the Gazans should be shot in the head themselves.

"Politics is unfair. Nazi Germany had the leverage. The Jews should have accepted the deal the Nazis were offering them."

What an absolute piece of shit

"So quite frankly I'm a bit fed up with people simultaneously bemoaning the horrors of the Hitlerite regime while condemning their opponents."

Aaaaaaaannnddd you don't see the SLIGHTEST bit of irony in your condemning opponents in a self-righteous fashion, Putin?

Oh. Right. Of course not.

"What an absolute piece of shit"

To be fair, in context, Santa, that's Jamiet trying to use my argument--that after 67 years of fighting a losing war (one they could've avoided if they'd just gone with the 1947 partition plan)--the Palestinians aren't in the position to negotiate for a much better land deal, and that while Israeli offers are markedly skewered in Israel's favor, they have the leverage, Palestinians (not having such a huge economy or army) will never have that leverage, and so fair or no, some land is better than no land and constant wars and deaths.

As I say above...if the "deal" was "Get into the oven or we'll shoot," then I'd condemn the Israelis as well.

Did this discussion just proved, yet again, Godwin's Law? And it's only the 3rd page...

THELEGION: really? beside FDR, who were the other 3?

hitler had only one ball
THELEGION (0 DX)

Joseph stahlin hitler and believe it or not churchill was considered handicapped
or so the story goes
THELEGION (0 DX)
07 Aug 14 UTC
Hitler had a bad arm he also of course had one ball and he had bad eye sight because of the crack eye drops his doctor made for his arm.Stahlin had his hand crushed by his father tractor as a kid and churchill had a speech impediment and a lisp so technically he was handicapped.
H.H (100 D)
07 Aug 14 UTC
So that dough-head Mussolini was the only non-handicapped one? Hard to believe.

Of course, a sligth speech impediment isn't exactly a handicap. It didn't stop him from making those speeches.

THELEGION (0 DX)

No no no the reason why mussolini was so bad was because he was trying to recovering from his hang over when they conquered albania and etheopia he wasn't handicapping he just needed to go to a AA meeting.

"hitler had only one ball"

And Goering had two, but were very small,
Himmler's somewhat similar,
But poor Goebbels, he had none at all.

His mom chopped it off when he was three
And threw it to the deep blue see
And the fishes had their wishes
And had it with their evening tea.
