Nominations for The Greatest Musician/Musical Act of All-Time
To get away for awhile from fights over foreign fights and people being X'd out here (please don't smite me, Maniac!) we begin the follow-up to our Greatest Author of All-Time Tournament with the search for the Greatest Musician/Musical Act of All-Time! Regional groups this time, US/UK/Europe/World (unless someone has a better grouping plan.) Either way, once again, everyone gets 4 noms, and we'll start when we fill out our Bracket of 64, 16 per group. Go! :)

Some of the thought processes here:

"Hmm...best musicians...Led Zeppelin was OK I guess, but Straight No Chaser just blows them out of the water."

I should silence this whole thread just to punish bad musical taste.

Let's see if we can maybe break up this sausage fest a bit, too...we have a couple of ladies so far, but they're pretty underrepresented here.

And someone seriously needs to nominate Queen and The Rolling Stones...like, now.

I thought we'd have a hard time getting composers into this, but they're actually fairly well represented, so that's good...

But we just NEED Queen and the Stones, and I can't bump Mozart, Puccini, Zimmerman or Billy Joel from my list...I'd recommend Elton John to someone, too.
@Obi: You missed my nomination of Phil collins

2WL... If you want to nominate only favorites, that's your choice. Nominating a first round out is okay by me. I like 'em better than some of the nominees up there. But you don't see me running any of those down by name, do you?

Alright guys, we have 54/64...so nearly there...

Come on, someone go Bonnie Tyler here, 'cause We Need a Hero...

Nominate Queen and The Rolling Stones! (Bonus points for Elton John, he should be in there too, but Queen and The Stones are just ESSENTIAL...)

Obi, we missed Ray Bradbury in the authors tourney and I think he could have won. Honestly, what we should do is have a second post from each person with four or five objections, people that just shouldn't be on here. We'd clear off the stupid ones that never have a shot no matter how good they are that way and then we could replace them with the ones we missed.

@bo_sox:

1. A great clip of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" from his 9th being performed and sung should power Beethoven into the Round of 16 at least! ;) (Though alternatively, his Moonlight Sonata might be a good, shorter choice, too.)

2. If we don't have Queen or The Rolling Stones at 64, we'll get them in somehow...I think, with as many (apologies to fans) likely one-and-done bands on this list that someone will sacrifice one or two and let Mick and Freddie into this.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

New Proposed Feature
I was wondering if any of you coders out there can code a new feature that allows a player to repeat the previous phase's moves. This would be really useful when playing stalemate games that are drawn out by one player attempting to break through, hoping for an NMR or waiting for others to be taken out of the draw. It gets very boring sometimes to enter the same moves repeatedly and helps to avoid careless mistakes.
