We're not who we appear to be: something good, bad, or indifferent?
The anonymity that is inherent in message boards like this and the consequent increased boldness or recklessness with which most of us are apt to behave as compared to how we would behave in our "real" lives leads me to wonder out loud: at what point, if ever, does this presentation of a sort of alternate personality constitute lying? And if it is a form of lying, does it matter?

In my opinion hanging was too good for them, maybe the electric chair would have been more fitting.

Hobby Lobby
The US Supreme Court has just (ten minutes ago) upheld Hobby Lobby's right, under religious conscience, not to provide contraception coverage to its employees.

What's rich about this case is Hobby Lobby has investments in companies who provide contraception. Weird if this is such an affront to this corporation's "religion".

Jamiet99uk, I'm aware of that concept, but it is commonly trotted out alongside Citizens United as justification for the abominable idea that corporations have enough in common with human, natural persons that they should enjoy equal rights and protection under the law. That's one of the most pernicious ideas of the last fifty years.
krellin (80 DX)

Putin - you puss-filled sack of ignorance....Hobby Lobby is not against all contraception, you moron. they are against certain types. If you are going to make a point, just ONCE try not to lie and twist everything you post about. What a sad pathetic loser you are.

"his plan is to find a large government nipple and sink his teeth into it, never produce a single god-damned thing of value for society, and then bitch about how he is underpaid and unappreciated."

Hey, that's MY plan!
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
30 Jun 14 UTC
But you never bite the nipple, krellin, you stroke it gently, and tell it it's the best nipple ever, and haven't you alwasy been good to it? You're in this for the long game, you want to make sure that it continues to deliver sweet sweet government milk for your entire career if possible.
krellin (80 DX)
30 Jun 14 UTC
YJ - ask any woman that breastfed....those little bugger like to latch on and BITE! When you are a parasite, you don't really care if you harm the donor as long as you are getting fed for nothing.

Anyway....regarding the wider discussion of nipples, there are certainly those that want them caressed and treated gently, but there are definitely those that don't mind a little harsh chewing...and those are the ones your probably gonna get to spank, too....

I hope the next court case involving religious rights is some Muslim owned company trying to enforce Islamic beliefs on their Christian employees. Then we can watch the Christian right trying to get it both ways. Religious freedom for corporations only when it's the right religion.
krellin (80 DX)
30 Jun 14 UTC
Silly goose...cases involving Muslim rights have already gone through courts and been decided in favor of allowing the relgiious frredom of the Islamic rights. And any self-respecting Constitutionalist - Christian or otherwise - would wish it to be so.
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Jun 14 UTC
Well, I'd be all for the Muslim.corporation saying their female employees need to wear burkas, for instance. As long as it wasn't a constitutional violation (like saying what they cam and can't do in their off hours off premises), I'd back that company as much as I back a Christian one for saying they aren't supplying the birth control. No one is being denied the ability to use it, they are just being told "buy it yourself."
krellin (80 DX)
30 Jun 14 UTC
(+1)
@Draugnar - Amen. And, being a free society with a competitive labor market, we could all laugh our asses off when the Muslim corporation went belly up because they could not attract decent talent, and people decided to not do business with them because of their beliefs.

Hobby Lobby, Chik-Fil-A, etc have all taken similar risks in losing employees and customer base - which is their right to do. Just as Starfucks has lost my business because of their vocal opposition and behavior....which you won't see any libtard around here complaining about.....and THAT is the beauty of this whole thing. Libtards bitch and moan, but if Starbucks had come out against, say, athiests instead of against Christians as they recetnly have, these same Libtards that no doubt love them some Starbucks would be demanding that their trademarks be stripped from them....

As was expected, it was a bullshit piece of vitriol that didn't look at this one simple fact. No one is denying a woman access to birth control. They just refuse to give her a free pass when she whores around.

Putin33 (111 D)

Except the corporate persons have no problem investing contraception for profit, they just want to dick over their female employees.

"They just refuse to give her a free pass when she whores around."

Not only are you unemployed but there's no way you're married. No way you can spout that ignorance and have any relationship with a woman.

I am stymied at trying to find an explanation for how the majority here squares this holding with Employment Division v. Smith that doesn't basically just involve bigotry.
Putin33 (111 D)
01 Jul 14 UTC
And evidently religious objections to a wide range of other practices don't pass their 'test', so they're only favoring religions that hate women and, like Draugnar, think they're all sluts (while he drools over 18 year old porn).
Putin33 (111 D)

" they are just being told "buy it yourself.""

You should pay for diabetic treatments yourself.

IUDs, what they are refusing to cover, cost the same as many women's salaries you dickhead.
Putin33 (111 D)
01 Jul 14 UTC
Seriously all diabetic fuckface men who think this is a good decision shouldn't be allowed to have insurance. They should pay through their dialysis assholes for all their medical treatment themselves, especially the ones who don't give a fuck about their health and drink and smoke (like Draugnar).
Bob Genghiskhan (1233 D)

Eh, maybe Draugnar's Pashtun and had an arranged marriage. Otherwise, nope, probably not.

""Ahhhhh ha ha ha ha ha!!! Putin the Assclown can't differentiate between STATE law and FEDERAL law. FEDERAL LAW must follow the Constitution of the United States, which is basically a document that limits powers fo the Federal Government,""

Anyway Krellbellz I'm willing to accept this as true. That means these whiney corporations and non-profits have no first amendment claims at the state level. States can impose whatever laws they want on them.

Cool. And also the 2nd amendment doesn't apply to the states or localities. Awesome. You're a constitutional scholar of the highest quality.
