A Jewish State? Israel? YES. YES IT IS.
http://news.yahoo.com/israeli-demand-sparks-39-jewish-state-39-debate-192744221.html It's a Jewish State. As surely as Ireland's an Irish state and Iran's an Iranian state, Israel is a JEWISH state...THE Jewish state. Make the Palestinians recognize that, and in turn, make the Israelis stop the terrible, TERRIBLE expansion plan into the West Bank. As surely as there must be a Palestine, Israel MUST be THE Jewish state.

The Good Old International "FUCK YOU!"...I mean, The Good Old Hocke Game...
...is the best game you can name, and the best game you can name, is a US-Gold Medal game! Anyone else pulling for Team USA to kick some Russian ass and win the Gold at Sochi? Any of our Canadian WebDippers proud of their awesome squad looking to defend their title? Any chance Putin wants to stand by Real Putin and that big, bad, high-powered Russian squad?

lol.

well I accurately predicted the first 2 games, however fuck you Moser for getting a goal with 8 seconds left in the game.

You we're suppose to win it in overtime, not with seconds left in regulation, lol

I strongly disagree with having Bergeron as a 4th line winger.

He leads the league in face off wins, with 11 more then Crosby despite being in the circle 154 less times.

He is a defensive specialist, being nominated for Selke last year and winning it the year before, defensive forwards are a lot more suited for a center position then a wing.

Bergeron was a key contributor to Pittsburgh having just 1 goal in their conference finals last year.
The lines should be:
Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Jeff Carter
Patrick Sharp - Jonathan Toews - Matt Duchene/MSL (either would be better than Nash)
Ryan Getzlaf - Patrice Bergeron - Corey Perry
Patrick Marleau - Jamie Benn - John Tavares

How Nash, who has just 27 D and is only +5 makes second line, especially in front of choices like MSL, Duchene, Thornton, Lucic, Eberle, Doan, Iginla or Giroux is beyond me.

Last 6 didn't make the team. They're just 6 players I can think of who are Right wingers/centerman who are all better then Nash that I can think of on the top of my head.

3-1 Team USA against Slovakia early in the 2nd Period! :D

John Carlson, Ryan Kesler and Paul Statsny all with goals for Team USA...Patrick Kane with an assist, and Jonathan Quick's had a couple of good saves, good start!
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
13 Feb 14 UTC
4-1 Team USA, Backes this time, the last to touch it on a big push to the goal!

And we're just owning Slovakia now...
obiwanobiwan (248 D)

"Slovakia beats USA"

I don't think so, Fasces! :D Unless we collapse and in a big way...and I can't see Quick letting in 3 quick goals...

Ryan Kessel on the goal!

And 7-1 is indeed the final...a great showing by the American squad all around!

BRING ON THE RUSSIANS AT BOLSHOI, BABY!

Let's wipe that smile off Ovie's face!
mapleleaf (0 DX)
13 Feb 14 UTC
Good luck with that. Russia is just a teensy bit better than Slovakia. The U.S.A. are, admittedly, the best of the also-rans. Canada or Russia will win, probably Canada because we have Crosby. Sweden has an outside chance.
Fasces349 (0 DX)

2-0 Canada after two, Canada is going to have to step it up if they want to remain Olympic favourites.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Feb 14 UTC
The first game for everyone has been very surprising, although the final results are not surprising. The smaller hockey countries (Austria, Slovenia, Norway) have played surprisingly well, despite losing.

"The U.S.A. are, admittedly, the best of the also-rans"

I THINK NOT!!! USA FOR THE GOLD!

Quick's as good a goalie as there is, and Ryan Miller was great 4 years ago...

And we just showed we can put the puck in the net against Slovakia...

We've got a shot to medal, at least!

OMG. What a goal by Datsyuk. He splits THREE Team U.S.A. slugs and beats Quick low glove side. Russia up 1-0.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
15 Feb 14 UTC
Goddamn it...the USA needs more sustained pressure and to get to more rebounds, they're getting outplayed in those parts of the game and that's the difference...

The best thing about the olympics is how it showcases all these weird minority sports like ice hockey. You have to give them credit, though. It looks like they're really trying. Makes you wonder what they would have achieved if they played a real sport.

The Liberal (AKA Anti-NRA/krellin) Gun Club
http://gma.yahoo.com/gun-club-liberals-un-nra-010923198.html
"She has no use, however, for the NRA's conservative political agenda... Its mission, she says, is to provide "a place for gun owners to talk to other owners about neat gun stuff, without having to hear how the president is a Muslim-usurper-socialist running a false-flag operation." Clearly, Ms. Hoeber's been reading our posts...clearly.

Shouldn't draw votes be anonymous?
I don't mind that cancel and pause votes are out in the open, but I'd expect draw votes to be anonymous. That's how it was when I played FtF and on the email judges. Any particular reason why they are not anonymous on this site?

Public Press Gunboat
More akin to real life gunboat where we can chat about anything except the game. Does anyone do this? I prefer gunboat because diplomacy just takes a lot of time that I'd rather spend doing other things in my life. However sometimes it would be nice to have the option of sending a public shout out on some topic.
