Need a seventh for JCB Invitational
JCB, Lando, Oskar, Danaman, trip, and I are in need of a seventh player for this game: gameID=83494. In the first game, frenchtourist played with us, but due to his not logging on since the 8th, JCB said that I could, with permission from the other four, advertise for a seventh.

A possible addition to the site
On VDip Oli added an "Extend" button, in addition to draw/pause/cancel. This delays the next phase for 4 days and could be used instead of the pause feature for short pauses and could speed up the whole process. Thoughts?

what's up with clooney/jolie/etc?
1. who is "directing" them to see the issues that support the elite agenda
2. are they proposing anything real, here, or just complaining?
3. are they aware that their "activism" is going to result in who knows how many deaths from the us military as has happened in iraq afganistan libya.
4. why does their understanding of world events remind me of an elementary school student exposed to too much propaganda?

just be happy you're in the top-30. i hoped for worse, but i can only tweak the rankings so much. otherwise i would be in there, because it clearly seems like i deserve it.

i mean come on eden! i just looked at your games. one solo, a bunch of losses, then a bunch of 4+ way draws. i can't treat a 6-way draw the same as i treat a 3-way draw. maybe if i were just going for win/draw percent you'd do ok.

in the future, try to draw with fewer than 4 players.

My suspicion, and I am open to correction, is that the problem with the GR system is that if you are a poor/moderate player who habitually plays with more skilled people, you will get a favourable GR score, as a function more of your draws than wins. In contrast if you are a moderately good player who generally plays with weaker opponents you will have a favourable Points score.
The really good players have both a high GR and Points score, while the converse is true for those of us who are more challenged.
In other words they are both reasonable systems, but they measure different things. If they are out of rough balance (as they are with me!), it is a good indicator of the choices one makes about the standard of games one chooses to join.
In the end though the game, in my view, is all about winning and the win percentage is a finer measure as any, for all of its faults.

nigeebaby is a fake account that all the upper-echelon share. whenever upper-echelonians play, they get someone to login as nigeebaby and throw the game to the others. this keeps them rated above the commoners.

Lol, I explained this a billion times, but I'll gladly repeat it: Carnivore scores are good for comparing beginners*. Not for experienced players.

How can I compare GR if I am not ranked in it? It has not been updated since January!!
Nerevatus (496 D)
18 Mar 12 UTC
@all
Yikes, I check back and see that my post about the Carnivore Score started quite the argument. I was of course joking if that wasn't clear from my post. That said I agree with Redhouse that his system is useful for comparing new players, especially those of us that are too new to even have a GR.

So how about we all just agree that win percentage is the only thing that matters and that participation in any 6-7 player draws in the first couple years is disregarded from calculating that percentage.

Disclaimer: that was a joke too.

All of the systems are flawed including GR for the reasons mentioned above. That said, I think there is a strong case that GR is the most robust measure of skill.

I haven't read the thread, but I don't think any rating system can beat the points system for anybody who likes to take over Great Powers after they've already been reduced to micro-states.
I really want to get more points. And since I have no ghost rating, I think it's more important.
ghug (5068 D(B))
19 Mar 12 UTC
You're ranked 767th, KiNg.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
19 Mar 12 UTC
King, the key to getting points is to not bet huge chunks of your pool.

I suggest betting no more than 1/7 of your maximum point pool in each game.

WTF!
gameID=83522

Why in the world did England draw this game here. Russia and Italy could have been eliminated and probably France as well without much difficulty. It was bad enough that Italy continued to attack me the whole game instead of stopping Turkey but this ending was enough to make me spit. I fought off both and for nothing. Worst game I've ever been in.
