"but dude, if you are suck a dick, I will stay away"
So, I recently saw two 'chums' of mine settle their argument by means of sucking dick. Is this an American thing or is it a new influence from the Latino community (whose stereotypical accent my 'chum' likes to impersonate in his typing)?

Someone on this site (maybe llama?) recommended The Secret In Their Eyes. It's a foreign film from Argentina. Well received by people who pay attention to such things, but pretty much unheard of from Americans in general. A truly amazing film.

I'll second StA and say Red Dawn.

I also saw Act of Valor the other day. It got very negative reviews by critics but I loved it. Very realistic war movie.

Clerks
Shortbus

Cube
In China They Eat Dogs (not underrated per se, but not known outside of Denmark)
Battle Royale
Mafialligator (239 D)

I've always wanted to see Shortbus. It seems like it would be my thing.
Also the movie version of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Most people who've seen it, like it, but not many people have seen it. Not as good as the stage version though. Though what is really?

The Outlaw Josey Wales is a good one.

This. That was a fantastic movie.

Looks like 1492 is posted on Youtube - watch it before they take it down!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwLOte-557I

The theatrical and VHS cuts were (IIRC) about 3 hours, this one is 5 hours. 15 minutes in, and it already looks like some footage was added. The heretic burning scene at the beginning of the movie was extended a bit with a 'mercy strangulation' - really dark.

It's amazing how Gattaca becomes more and more relevant as time passes - a truly prescient movie.

@hellalt - I like your list my friend, except Descendants *is* a good movie. Did you even see it before passing judgment on it? Unbreakable is my second favorit M. Night movie (Sixth Sense being first) but then, all but those two have been crap. I mean Signs? Who the fuck leaves an axe in the basement when they have been under siege from a shitload of aliens all night? Morons! And how the fuck did the elders in The Village keep planes from ever being visible and get that clothing so fucking bright yellow? I stopped watching his dreck after those two.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"Who the fuck leaves an axe in the basement when they have been under siege from a shitload of aliens all night?"

The radio said Philadelphia and the outlying counties are clear.

"And how the fuck did the elders in The Village keep planes from ever being visible and get that clothing so fucking bright yellow?"

I'm sure they had an explanation for the airplanes. As for the clothes, they weren't all that clean/bright.

I would agree that 6th Sense and Unbreakable are superior to the rest of his movies, but the rest aren't as bad as people make them out to be. It's the Godfather III problem - people have a hard time making fair comparisons.

"Assassination Tango". Robert Duvall's ode to Argentina, its people, and its most famous dance, (also his adopted second home). A phenomenal movie about a hitman. It's worth it just to watch the "hit". Crazy awesome.

"State of Grace". One of the best organized crime movies ever and consistently overlooked and forgotten Sean Penn, John Turturro, Ed Harris, Robin Wright Penn, John C. Reilly, and Gary Oldman.

"Magnolia". Trippy and weird with an all star cast featuring the only good acting ever done by Tom Cruise. Julianne Moore, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, John C. Reilly, Jason Robards plus many others.

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" French film with subtitles, just noon-stop kick ass action movie with great historical backdrop.

"Black Book" Dutch film by Paul Verhoeven with subtitles. One of the best female heroines ever and a seering portrait of her will to survive and her fight against the Nazi's.

"The radio said Philadelphia and the outlying counties are clear."

Guess I'm just the type to take my weapons with me no matter what the radio said. And I saw the Village. The yellow was unnaturally bright.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
12 Mar 12 UTC
"The yellow was unnaturally bright."

Just like the purple, orange, grey, red, etc. clothing for some characters were unnaturally vibrant and clear in Unbreakable. Or the girl's red dress in the black-and-white Schindler's List. It's a movie, not a docudrama - filmmakers are making sure something stands out in the audiences' minds when they do things like that.
Draugnar (0 DX)
12 Mar 12 UTC
But in Unbreakable, it was set in the modern day from the get go. We expect those colors to be available. In Schindler's List, it was clear that red was to stand out as the girls's dress wasn't the only red, there was every instance of blood when someone was shot. But in The Village, it was presented like a period piece so having something as disassociative as a modern bright color along with the other issues like the planes/helicopters just made it beyond the realm of "suspension of disbelief" for a movie set in reality.

I'm watching Taken right now. It is a very underrated action flick along with Ransom, Hostage, Payback, Edge of Darkness, and Unknown make for some seriously underrated action thrillers. Oh, and I almost forgot Collateral (Tom cruise and Jamie Foxx).

You also forgot hot fuzz, point break, and little trouble in big china.
Draugnar (0 DX)

It's Big Trouble in Little China... Point Break was mediocre. But Hot Fuzz was lot's of fun. Also Shaun of the Dead...

Yeah I meant that. One of my most favorite movies though, glad to see somebody else has seen it. And the action of hot fuzz is great too. As for your opinion of point break, I'll quote the movie "(it's) young, dumb, and full of cum."

EoG- Final Game 1

Given that my other 'final game' didn't finish, this really did turn out to be my last on the site. It would have been nice to have soloed, and frustratingly I think I missed a couple of decent opportunities, but I'm still very pleased with the result, especially given my weak start! More later!!

Why is it that...
Everyone seems to think that the sole Biblical source outlawing gay marriage rests in Leviticus? I've seen this in my conversations with friends and classmates and also on this forum here. There are in fact a number of different places where the Bible outlaws gay marriage.

I'm not trying to argue for whether it is right or wrong in this thread. I just am curious as to why there is so much misinformation floating around.

multiple breeds of sharks are getting together to have massive orgies leading to frightening hybrids! on a related note, global warming must be real because dc cherry blossoms came out a bit early, nevermind that snow in the sahara for the first time ever... or wait, maybe that snow proves global warming as well.

good video?
a youtube video that really rings true for me. particularly the part that says school sucks and the part that compares obama to hitler. only problem is that it sounds vaguely poetic, and poetry is gay.

Failure of Obama's Housing Market Policy
Why are home prices still falling in 2012 four years after their initial collapse?
Because the government wasted hundreds of billions if not a trillion dollars on futile attempts to manipulate the market and keep home prices up. What foolishness. The market can't be denied people- finger in the dike stuff.

Not my words but an interesting viewpoint
We should look to the antics of our own war addicted leaders with their mockery of democracy before we get involved in any other country. The West holds no moral high ground, while this state of enslavement to the economy of us, the people, exists, to interfere with other systems of rule. The veneer of legitimacy of our own goverments these days is no thicker than that of the Taliban
