What opposing power do you most want to see in able hands?
Which country in Classic that you are not playing do you most hope is in the hands of someone with a reasonably good sense of the overall map dynamics, unit abilities and the way various provinces and powers relate to one another?

A pity it turned out as it did.

It was poised interestingly, although I suspect it was mostly "Let's kill the non-voting people". The I/R/T scramble was fun. Given Germany's latest push into Venice, I feel Russia would have come out on top of Turkey unless Germany built armies and sent them east (unlikely)

Faster Than The Speed of Light.
Some breaking news yesterday from CERN that subatomic particles seem to have beaten the speed of light. Very exciting and, although CERN wants the results checked again before publishing, such an extraordinary claim that I thought I'd bring it to attention here on the forum.

Donor Status
Question- I have a bronze donor symbol by my name. Is this fair within the game? Does it help my play, grant me "serious player" status so my word gets respected? Or make me a target instead?

I know that I look for that symbol in every game I am now entering. I treat others different when I see it. Is this part of the "spirit" of Diplomacy?

With the high concentration of idiots on this website who seem to have not the foggiest idea how the world really works the timeliness of this thread can't be denied.

lmao PE you are stepping in my territory of posting distracting non-sequiturs in everyone's threads.

anyway, the real key to saving the world is to abolish government.

why have governments when we have companies? companies work better than governments anyway.

taco bell can have mexico, mcdonalds would need to merge with coke and take the USA. toyota gets japan and tata gets the former jewel in the crown of British Petroleum.

oh my god and who can forget monsanto. they get latin america and africa, who wants that shit anyway.

Companies do work exceedingly better than governments. When was the last time a company carried out a holocaust against jews?
When was the last time a company blew up ancient statues of the Buddha.
When was the last time a company established Gulags in Siberia to silence freedom.

Excellent point Thucy. I'm surprised a young, inexperienced, statist like yourself who has no intellectual creativity could get lucky.

lol TC you're a fool. The only thing I trust less than the government is a corporation. At least the government has to give the appearance of having our best interests at heart. A corp is self-serving to the exclusion of all else.

How many times have corporations screwed people over to make a few extra bucks? Recommend you take a look at Merck real quick before you answer...
i think it's too bad that all the people that REALLY know how the world works, and how to fix it, are too busy playing Diplomacy and bullshitting on WebDip

Marti, knowing how the world works doesn't mean you can fix it.

Take for example Thucy, I can explain to him how things work, but I can't make him pull his head out of his ass and understand it.
He just goes on living on someone else's tab.
@TC: rofl
Why wouldn't you live off someone else's tab if you could? It's a legitimate life strategy. The only difference between government and corporations is that the government openly annouces they are living off your hard work.

"Companies do work exceedingly better than governments. When was the last time a company carried out a holocaust against jews?
When was the last time a company blew up ancient statues of the Buddha.
When was the last time a company established Gulags in Siberia to silence freedom."

You do realize companies literally enslaved and colonized countries and then handed over the business to government, right? You do realize corporations regularly hire thugs to murder political opponents of their policies, ie Coca-Cola, Nestle, etc? You do realize companies like United Fruit have conspired to overthrow liberal democratic governments and install military regimes, right? You do realize pharmaseuticals are jacking up the price on impoverished countries around the world and depriving them of life saving drugs, right? Ditto the soft drink companies and water. Ditto agribusiness and food. Ditto the oil companies and energy.

How about fracking, is that another example of corporate magnanimity? Clearcutting forests? Mountain top removal? Dumping mercury in water supplies? Destroying the gulf with oil spills?

I don't know what corporation is paying you to spew all this propaganda and lick their boots, but I'm sure they're paying you well.
Of course he doesn't realise that Putin, or at least, he won't admit it.

What do you know about wage slavery largeham? You've never worked for a wage, you live off the wages of others manifested in your government aid check.

An excellent article on how the private sector is meeting the demand for inexpensive medicine outside the government and Insurance company paradigm.

A New Paradigm for Walk-in Medicine

CVS, United Healthcare and American Well are competing directly with hospitals lin the area of direct patient care. They are not hindered by legacy computer systems, entrenched behaviors, and outdated business practices.

You can now find walk-in clinics at CVS pharmacies, Target, Safeway, and Wal-Mart.
You pay cash and there is no fuss.

The private sector meeting a need that consumers are flocking to out of their own free will.

The blood of grotesque Marxists everywhere just began to boil.
largeham (149 D)

I dare say I know something about wage slavery having worked before. I actually don't take government aid checks. I am however on a student loan, but then again the poor don't deserve education.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

"having worked before."

God what a revealing statement about you largeham.
Most adults have worked every day of their lives since they reached adulthood.
Then again it's painfully obvious you aren't an adult in any way shape or form so why hold a child to the same standard.

Really, so the moment you come of age, the market hands you a job? I never knew! So there is no enforced unemployment, there is no such thing as downsizing, gosh I'm missing out.

Also, how old do you think I am.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
17 Sep 11 UTC
Largeham, you post all the time about economics and then you post "so the moment you come of age the market hands you a job."

Kind of proves my point that any time you post about economics you are talking out of your ass about something you are ignorant of.
largeham (149 D)

Too bad the free market doesn't provide a sarcasm detector.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
17 Sep 11 UTC
How would you know Largham? You have to understand what a market is and obviously you don't.
Why don't you post about something you know, like have your butt surgically attached to a couch.
largeham (149 D)
17 Sep 11 UTC
Well, if the free market does provide a sarcasm meter, then why don't you buy one? Oh wait, I forgot the sale of sarcasm meters is regulated by the government. Curses foiled, again by those communists!

Also, I'll have you know my butt is surgically attached to my faux-leather chair, not to my couch. Get it right, this kind of failure isn't tolerated in the free market.
TC needs to check his facts, people don't surf the net on couches...
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
17 Sep 11 UTC
Largeham, you completely exposed your infantile world view. Who bought the chair for you by the way? I know the government paid for the surgery.

This last turn I expected cyrene and libyan sea to disband, according to the rules for automatic disband for cd nations.... Libyan sea, cyrene and marmarica are all 1 movement from egypts home supply centers... cyrene and libyan sea come before marmarica in the alphabet... is this a mistake or is there something i'm missing...?
