Possible Multi account?
I don't think it is right to post the game id, but in one of my games, each player in the ancient med is attacking me. I tried to contact all of them separately 3 times each, and they haven't responded. If that's not enough, they all have the same name, and are logged on at the same time. Thanks!

Favorite Sports Moments
Just a fun little topic...give a few of your favorite sporting moments you've watched or, if you're lucky enough to have actually played, played in your lifetime.
The moments that are just sheer euphoria...and possibly can be YouTubed so we can see how awesome it was (particularly intersted in what our European friends have to say, since I don't know any of those leagues or moments...) :D

Best Kids movie
Doesn't have to be a cartoon, or CGI. Movie that you saw when you were a kid, movie that stands up well today, movie you use to hunt predators, anything goes.

To start things off with nostalgia, for me its definitely The Wizard of Oz, the Judy Garland version (in case there is another). Your thoughts?

For those who loved "Star Wars" as a kid and now are dealing with children, the following is pretty funny:

http://laughingsquid.com/talking-to-your-kids-about-star-wars/

It gets extra points for the painfully earnest Public Service Announcement music and the over-the-top visual wipes.

I think good children's movies also appeal to adults. For children also want proper characters and a story with depth. Don't think one ought to underestimate the lil' ones.

I love the Astrid Lindgren films.

Yet modern movies such as Ratatouille also hit it out of the part for me.

"Alice in wonderland (1951, not the Burton garbage)"

Seriously, right? I really like most of Burton's work, but the new Alice was a big let down. A very contrived story. It would have been so much better if he just remade the original story, or didn't do it at all.
hellalt (80 D)
17 Dec 10 UTC
The Disney 1951 movie is great though.
Burton eliminated every element of meaningful surrealism and turned into mindless crap.
I liked his graphics though.
Avenor (287 D)
17 Dec 10 UTC
I haven't seen Burton's Alice so correct me if I'm wrong but he ruined the whole point. Alice is supposed to be a child and Wonderland is supposed to be a dream. The last verse in the poem that closes Alice is "Life, what is it but a dream?"
He just plain ruined the whole point and made an Holywood movie instead. Amirite?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
17 Dec 10 UTC
"I liked his graphics though."

Yeah, which is why I think a remake could have been cool. Great story and great visuals.

But, seriously, Avenor, I don't even know. It was awful. No deeper message; it just existed for the sake of making money.

Wall-E was a great movie, and me and my siblings watched all the Disney main releases constantly through the early-mid 1990s as a kid, but I think Hercules and robin hood were our favorites (not sure I'd still appreciate them except for nostalgia, though)
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 Dec 10 UTC
I think Burton was trying to make Alice set in the universe of 'American McGee's Alice', a rather more macbre video game set after Alice becomes an orphan and is institutionalized.
Mafialligator (239 D)

Hmmm... I have a list.
Toy Story, Up, Finding Nemo
Chicken Run (I watched it again last night on TV. So funny.)
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
The Princess Bride
Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one)
Really anything from the 90's Disney Renaissance Era: The Little Mermaid (actually '89, but my point stands), Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, up to about The Lion King.
Oh and anything by the Muppets but I think The Muppet's Treasure Island is the best of them.

Here's a question though. A lot of these movies are designed to appeal to both kid and adult audiences and are totally watchable by adults. In fact many of them have only come out since I turned 20, and I enjoyed them immensely but still consider them kids movies. Does this make them not kids movies? Discuss. (or not.)
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 Dec 10 UTC
SpongBob has a cult-like adult following and tons of inside jokes for adults, does that make it any lerss a kids cartoon? And teenagers are still kids, especially younger teens (13 or 14), yet they get a lot of adult stuff and the stuff they find fun and funny, most adults do as well. So just because the whole family can enjoy it doesn't mean it isn't still a kids film. Now, some on your list are family films, not kids' films. For instance, Pricess Bride and Pirates of the Caribbean. Arguably Chicken Run wiht all it's references to classic movies, especially the Great Escape, could be called a family film instead of a kids' film.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 Dec 10 UTC
Oh, and I'm a 44 (almost 45) year old man without kids, yet I have seen every Pixar film as well as all of the Dreamworks Animations and am a huge Lilo and Stich fan. Generally speaking, I think they all are great. Well, Cars was only good, not great, but exceptions and rules...
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 Dec 10 UTC
*Stitch - small typo there.
Mafialligator (239 D)
17 Dec 10 UTC
I think that's a good point, the distinction between family film and kid's movie. That said, I think it's easier to find great family films than great kids films. I do stand by all my choices as great movies though.
Draugnar (0 DX)
17 Dec 10 UTC
Absolutely. The only one I haven't seen on your list is "Up" and I've got it in my Netflix queue. I just need to get "V for Vendetta" watched (gotta stop playing WebDip and WoW for a couple of nights).

"I think Burton was trying to make Alice set in the universe of 'American McGee's Alice', a rather more macbre video game set after Alice becomes an orphan and is institutionalized."

I'm not sure why you'd say this. I don't think there was much relation at all between these two renditions. If that's what he was going for, he failed miserably.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I admit I was running from description sand commercials. I haven't seen the actual film, so if I'm off... Mea Culpa.
Ges (292 D)

@Draugnar: "V for Vendetta" is a great film. In some ways it is tighter than the graphic novel. If you make the time, you won't be disappointed.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
17 Dec 10 UTC
Agreed. "V for Vendetta" is great. I read the graphic novel and saw the movie and was not disappointed. Natalie Portman, 'nuff said.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you're a hardcore anarchist or just more generally into that whole "not liking fascism" thing. Hardcore anarchists were disappointed by V for Vendetta, but I quite enjoyed it.

Problem with paused game
We have a paused game with a player who has not entered orders, nor voted un pause, nor appeared in the press, and has not being seeing in almost 5 days. The game was a 1 day/turn day, and the rest of us have already voted un pause. What can we do to resume the game? Is there any other way to unpause the game?

Is this site loading slow today or is it just my computer? It keeps opening up multiple instances of Java and I am getting huge delays when trying to type.
I've tried to delete Java and then reinstall a fresh copy but no luck.

I am in the process of planning the 2011 Masters' tournament. The scoring system will be altered to give 4 D for a win, and one point for a draw.

I am considering awarding no points for draws with 5, 6 or 7 players. What are people's opinions on the idea?
