@warsprite. I'm not blaming that generation I'm just stating facts as I see them. I was born in '72 and my parents are a part of that generation and I've grown up greatly influenced by them. When I was young I bought in to a lot of it but now that I'm older and living in Europe the past seems much smaller than it did. And when I look at the differences of societies and wonder why my thoughts return to the 60's. I don't blame them as I did much the same in the 90's but looking back to the root of the problems it begins then. In the 60's. But I totally agree with the worship of Venus! I guess if we want to look for the very beginning of all of our problems it would be good to read the Bible. But that is too far back to change. As is the 60's for that matter.
This most important thing for us to think about now is the consolidation of the world economies and the power that they weld. Economic slavery and exploitation does exist. We're living in it. Fortunately for us we all exist in the upper half of it. We have food, clean water, no wars being fought where we live unless you're from Israel. But with the formation of economical groups like the E.U., A.U., soon to arrive N.A.U. and the A.U. we should all be concerned. The next step is the unification of these currencies into one currency. Those of us living in countries that have already exchanged currencies for a "world" currency already understands how that works. In Italy, they turned 500,00 lire into 5 Euros. But this was mathematically incorrect. It should have been 2.50e. It was only evaluated this way when we got paid but for everything else it was calculated as equal. Therefore the standard of living has been cut in half but those who owned property suddenly doubled their profits. And who owns the most property? The banks. A similar situation is happening in the USA. The banks created the economic crisis by inflating the housing market and stimulating investments then drove up the price of oil causing a "crisis" which set a number of events in motion. i.e. government bailouts of our ,the taxpayers money, while consolidating the banking system. We bought the powerful banks smaller banks for nothing. The seizing of properties as never seen before. This is important as these properties were bought by banks who wrote a piece of paper that has value in theory but in reality has none. They give this property for us to use. Then when we cannot pay they take the property for themselves. Claim misfortune, receive money from the government as compensation and the develop and sell the properties for a fat profit without actually spending a dime. And this is in America! What is happening in other countries is even more astounding.
As we drift into 2010 we need to step back and take a look at what is really happening around us. Forget about your political beliefs, religious views, national agendas and just look around. There are events happening at this moment that will greatly change all of our lives forever. 2010! The future is now and our wildest imaginations are coming true accept that it mostly isn't from military force. It's with our own consent. All of our New Year's Resolutions should be this. "I'm a free individual. My life has meaning. I am important. I am not a slave. I will not lie down and accept this! This is wrong. I know it's wrong! We can feed everyone in the world. We can give clean water to everyone in the world. We can offer a good life to everyone in the world. We can operate without fossil fuels. We can live together in peace."
The only element interfering with this resolution is PROFIT. We are capable of doing everything we "want" to do in the future, now. The only thing interfering is PROFIT. That my friends is the root of all evil. So, this New Year, 2010, I ask that everyone consider the truth of what is happening around the world and speak out about it. It all begins with us. Don't be like the Americans and get distracted by a corporate puppet talking about change. His color is different but his sponsors aren't. Don't be fooled by the tricks of the deceivers.
*Steps off his soapbox and walks away to the music of Public Enemy's "Fight the Power"*
Sorry for the rant but the new year always starts up my activist side. But unlike the 60's generation I hate drugs. I will not be distracted.
