Whose up for a live anonymous gunboat game?
I don't normally play gunboat, but I can't play WoW while watching the Sugar Bowl. Anyone want to play one? I'll set it up and password it then PM the password to those who are interested.

Game move question
Hey, I'm new to diplomacy and I have a question on how this series of moves would play out: (Game ID 17000 just in case anyone wants to have a look)

Germany has armies in Ruhr and Kiel
Russia has armies in Berlin and Munich

What would happen if Russia did A Berlin - Kiel, A Munich S Berlin - Kiel
while Germany did: A Kiel - Munich, A Ruhr S Kiel - Munich.

Would the result just be all bounces? Nothing ends up happening(all units stay where they were)? Or would Germany end up taking Munich while Russia takes Kiel? Thanks in advance!

It is not considered fair to ask for help in an ongoing game, especially not with details. Go find and download JDip and plug everything it. It will give you an adjudication that is exactly what this site returns as well.

Well I didn't really think asking how adjudication works on this website was technically asking for help(its not like I'm asking what moves I should do).... One reason I'm not confident with other programs is that I've noticed some of them work differently (i'm guessing based on whatever rules they chose). I mean, besides asking someone here who would know, the only way for me to figure out how this site works is to create 6 fake accounts and create a private game where I try stuff out.... But I figured that would be frowned upon as well?

It's a great progam. You can find it here:
http://jdip.sourceforge.net/

There is a set of rules called the DATC (Diplomacy Adjudication Test Cases) that all recognized Diplomacy adjudicators should pass. all the judges, this site, facebook's site, goonDip, and every software package I've seen all conform to them. You can also figure it out by reading the full rules which can be downloaded from Wizards of the Coast's website.
PhoenixAvenger (115 D)

And it works exactly the same way as this website?

Are there any web based Adjudicators out there that I can use? I'm not on my own computer so I wouldn't feel comfortable installing software on another person's computer.

They both pass the DATC tests.

I think PhoenixAvenger's question is fair enough - it's about the rules. Next time though I would suggest that you create a hypothetical situation rather than using a current game. For one thing you don't want your rivals to know what you are thinking.
In the above situation Russia army Berlin moves to Munich, while the German army Kiel moves to Munich.
The adjudicator in jDip will give the same results as this site.

Kiel is able to move to Munich because it has support from Ruhr - two versus one.
Berlin is able to move to Kiel because the Germany army vacated the territory when it moved to Munich.

@PhoenixAvenger - check your PMs. I sent some info to you there isntead of cluttering up here with it.

Okay, thanks for the 'help.' When I get back home I'll be sure to install jDip.

I never played in this game. How is it suddenly on my record?
gameID=16160

It's a live game that I am somehow credited as being Germany, but I was never in it. What the hell?! I have enough losses that I don't need the system adding even more.

Best decade ever?
It has to be, and by a larger margin than usual too. Life expectancy, economic development, technological and scientific advance, it's all looking up. If you look past unfortunate events and special cases to the big picture it's hard to be anything but optimistic
Anyone want to rain on my parade? Anyone else feeling optimistic? Happy new year either way
