Yes, rationally speaking, there's no reason why we should place importance on the remains of our dead, but that doesn't change the fact that we do place importance on the remains of our dead. The first 3 pages of Google searches are all kooky anarchist websites. I'd think that even if reputable news sources didn't pick up the story at least there would be some Trotskyist websites up in arms about this.

Arguably no-one really 'knows' what anarchism is because it's the most diffuse of all political ideologies. You can find anarchists that support a huge variety of very different things. So just because someone's description of anarchism doesn't fit yours it doesn't mean it's wrong. There are almost certainly anarchists out there who fit the common definition, as well as ones who fit a variety of definitions totally different from yours.
