We have had problems with friends ALWAYS allying in games, thats not good and turns people off. but there isn't anything wrong with friends allying sometimes when the game dynamics suit it.

i would just say please be aware of this issue and play fairly with people you dont know as well as your friends.

It gets annoying for players to enter a game and 3 or 4 members all go to school together and don't bother exploring alternative alliances with unknown/newer/different players.(an example, not your situation i know)

having said that, i must say kangaroo calm down, settle petal, chill out. Don't go blaming a billion Chinese (and various other people who happen to have a Chinese sign on name...or are friends with a person who has a Chinese sign on name...jeez kangaroo thats a long stretch!) for the terrorist actions of the Chinese dictatorship.

Let's get one thing straight, for one guy playing in a game with no-one he knows, it makes absolutely no difference whether three of the other players are best buddies who automatically ally with each other, or if they are all controlled by one single person. He still faces three countries acting like they are one big country, with absolutely no chance of breaking them up or playing them against each other. It's just as unfair for him, he stands just as little chance of winning.

I don't understand why the first circumstance is considered bad manners and the second circumstance is considered outright cheating. Metagaming, automatic alliances, multi-accounting... for me it's all cheating.

Please, don't do it. If you're going to play in games with your friends that are not private - then attack them, stab them, ally with them SOMETIMES, just generally treat them exactly the same as any other player. Otherwise it is cheating.
