Contracts
Does anyone on here regularly look over or write contracts for a business (technically under Illinois law)? I have a new contract written up for my company I could use a hand and I don't wanna pay someone a brand new car an hour just to tell me it's all good. I would love you forever if you have the credibility to help and are willing to help <3

"Burkini" Bans in France
Apparently, France is banning all sorts of religious garb, specifically targeting Muslim women, in the name of personal freedom and cultural values. Critics claim that hijabs, burkas, and other similar face or head coverings are repressive of women and are not fitting with the culture of openness in Western Europe. Thoughts?

But seriously....if I can't see your face, does it really matter if your nipples are flapping in the wind?

And the Frenchies, they'd dig that shit, and then everyone would be happy, right?

Someone tell me this is wrong with a straight face.

YOU CAN'T!

MajorM - "France is a democracy so there are options in how people in France can work for change in non violent ways" - just ignoring the law and wearing what you like is working for change in a non violent way. Something i'd would imagine will happen en-masse as police won't want to fine/arrest everyone and people will soon see that engaging police in adjuducating fashion when there are real threats is a waste of resources.

Damn right Maniac, people choosing to wear the banned clothing is a form of protest, and they can be peaceably uncooperative with police arresting them, for example by flopping to the ground and allowing four or so police to lift them up and carry them to the paddy wagon.
They can also use media to get their message out, stand as candidates for political offices..there's a multitude of ways to work for political change in a democracy

Krellin..there's no need for the over abundantly clothed women to cut out nipple holes so chaps can have a look at what entices them..I've noticed that the men accompanying these well clad ladies to the beach are quite capable of walking hundreds of metres across hot sand to spend lengthy amounts of time gazing at scantily clad other young ladies.
The fire breathing MemSahib does occasionally venture outdoors and does go topless occasionally at certain beaches and having some chap discreetly masturbating whilst he gazes at her from a nearby hollow in the sand dunes is in some ways a compliment to her aging body
krellin (80 DX)

I think the ladis just like having manhands all over the excessively clothed bodies.

Uhhhh.....shouldn't their men be standing by attempting to behead the cops that are hands-on with their women?

Yes I saw on the news there is a legal challenge to the validity of the French laws on the hijab, burka, burkini etc...that's an example of the right way to oppose this law if people are opposed to it, that's the civil way to go about it..violence and terrorism are not the way civilised people operate
I know that cute line about one person's terrorist being another person's freedom fighter.. it sounds good, but it's crap..
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

Incidentally.. This supposed reward in "Heaven" for these "Jihadist warriors".. the squad of virginal & celestial Fatimas that the deceased Jihadist has to spend eternity with..I wonder if these Jihadist clowns ever think that through to it's logical consequences.
Firstly.. As celestial beings, there's no physicality..no sex
So they're stuck for eternity with a crowd of Fatimas ( what is the correct plural of Fatima ? ...Fatami ? ) and any chap who thinks the afterlife will be peaceful when he's saddled with a crowd of women has a somewhat Pollyanna like view of things.
If anything, it should be a deterrent, not an inducement.

"Critics claim that hijabs, burkas, and other similar face or head coverings are repressive of women and are not fitting with the culture of openness in Western Europe. "

There is also this: Other critics claim that interfering with what people wear are not fitting with the culture of openness in Western Europe...

I personally find all kinds of bans that is related with the personal preference of people are beyond the reach of any government under normal conditions (when not in a state of emergency or martial law).

I also find it against their basic human rights. (I am not refering to the ECHR but something beyond it, perhaps you may consider it as the Grundnorms or the spirit of freedom and liberty.)

First of all, you may not like that people cover their head or face. But this is your personal problem. Everyone has the right to be anonymous and no body can interfere with what others wear, say it is burkini or bikini... So if you want to ban such clothes on the basis of hiding people's identity, then you have to ban everything that covers your face, including any kind of normal scarf used to cover your face in cold weather, any kind of balaclavas, full face sking clothes and motorcycle helmets, etc. If you dont do that, then I am sorry but you are making a decision that discriminates muslim people.

Personally I think the latest incidents in France, where the police forcing people to remove their clothes, are merely the proof that France, along with the Europe, are moving from their culture of openness and becoming a closed, single-minded conservative culture. In my eyes, bans on not wearing headscarves are equally as low as bans on wearing burkinis or even hijabs. It is a shame to see that most French authorities cannot see that. However, it is not something new that the Europe is adopting the set of rules seen in oppressive third world countries.

We need to be careful here. If you make a legislation that oppresses and shames people for wearing their cultural clothes -on the basis of dealing with oppression of women- you are just directing the oppression from one group of people to another group of people.

French authorities need to learn that not all muslim women wear such burkinis by force. If that were the case then those women would not resist removing their burkinis, they would be relieved! On the otherhand there is a group of VULNERABLE muslim women who are being oppressed to wear such clothes. You cannot save these people by issuing a blanket ban. They would just get locked inside their homes and cannot leave anymore because your oppresive moves make their husbands even more oppressive. The methods of dealing with such oppressions are already well-known as they are no different than methods for preventing domestic abuse, as it is also a part of domestic abuse.

IMO, If French authorities were honest about their intentions, they would seriously focus on domestic abuses rather than issuing an anti-muslim blanket ban. I just hope that the West Europe will come back to its common-sense and old values soon but it does not seem likely seeing all the increasing cultural conservatisim and nationalism in Europe...

I'm really happy to see the challenge to the law is doing well. I think these bans are awful. Let people wear what they want.
JamesYanik (548 D)

I think the clothing bans are another example of government trying to fix a problem by treating the symptoms.

Some might agree with Islam and it's ideologies towards women, but if you are a government entity determined on implementing full spread equality of human right's on a population: this is definitely the wrong way to go about it.

what we NEED????

So it is a matter of personal choice unless someone feels offended? Like is our personal choice shows off your religion, in public? Like whatever you do in the orovacy of your home is fine, but in public, you might offend someone!!

We often complain about our judicial systems, but I think credit should be given to them when they serve us well, and the way the judicial system in France is providing a way to resolve the dispute over the "hijab/burkini" deserves credit.
So too does a court in my own country, Australia, deserve credit for the eight year jail sentence given to a scumbag who acted to recruit Australians to go and fight for ISIS / Daesh in Syria...the particular scumbag is one of these extremist Islamic preachers and classic hypocrite...long term recipient of welfare support paid for by the taxpayers of a generous secular democracy, that horror of horrors...practices capitalism to generate wealth

Speaking of complaining about the US, why isn't the NRA all up in arms about medical marijuana card holders being banned from owning guns? Isn't that, like, a massive Second Amendment violation? Are people on terror watch lists now considered less dangerous than a medical marijuana card holder? I'm confused.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

That is so weird... Not a lot of weed smokers in the NRA i take it?

In other news, Federal judge tells parents they can fuck off and vaccinate their kids - upholding Californian law requiring uptodate vaccinations before enrollment :) yay for herd immunity!

He wasn't on the terror watch list. He was only interviewed by the FBI once. And yes, people in a psychotic of less than clear-minded state shouldn't own guns. Also anyone who needs medical marijuana in the first place because it's usually prescribed to people with mental issues such as depression or PTSD.

Bah. We don't take guns away from alcoholics, and we do take guns away from people who use marijuana to treat chronic pain. If the point is to take guns away from substance abusers or people with mental issues, this is some fucked-up prioritization.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
02 Sep 16 UTC
@Leth, i presume the point is to discriminate against medical marjuana users, because they are deemed 'unfit' to he treated equally.

"Conservatism" and military spending
Something that puzzles me. A lot of people who call themselves conservative are generally big on pushing the small-government, "tax is theft" line. At the same time many of those same people are huge supporters of the armed forces.

How is decided which nation I get in a game?
I couldn't find an answer to this in the FAQ section.
When entering a new game, does the system distribute the nations to the players randomly? How is it decided who gets which nation? Is there a possible way of influencing the distribution, setting up preferences etc. or is it always totally random?
Thank you for answers.
