Live and Let Live
I was typing a brief response to the post below about being 'trans' when I refreshed and found that the thread was locked. It was locked with a really great post from Jmo, so thanks for that. The video itself wasn't really that funny or clever, and was laughing at not with, without any sense of awareness; but I take it that that video is a closed issue, so I just wanted to add:

Update for Intro?
I've noticed in games people moving into a supply center, and then moving out before builds phase. I feel like there should be an update in the WebDip intro properly explaining how the seasons/phases work, because it seems like every newbie messes it up.

ArmyandFleet - cancelled
I was just in a anon. game that got cancelled - after many, many turns. At last we (the big majority of players) succeeded in getting 1 player to vote cancel.
My question is, is there any way in getting to know who played in that game, now that it is cancelled?

PS: I was Russia.

Saddest, Most Twisted and Shocking Read So Far
Planned parenthood is selling aborted baby body parts and performing partial birth abortions to keep parts in tact:

Don't get me wrong, I'm against abortions in all fronts, but certain cases can be construed differently. As such, if an abortion does occur, it's better to donate organs and tissue to save lives where we can, but I believe PP is going FAR beyond that, and the casualness by which its approached is appalling.
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Here's how feminism reduces abortions:

When women get a say in what kind of sex they have, and how often, and how many children they have, and just get more of a say generally, guess what happens:

Less Unwanted Pregnancies.

And guess what that means - less abortions

Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

@Thucy: how many feminists do you know that are pro choice?

@valis: not Christian, specifically, but we have thousands upon thousands of years where sex education was not the means to limit unwanted pregnancy.

A lot, what's your point? As semck pointed out, feminism is a broad term and you can be pro-feminist but against abortion.
KingCyrus (511 D)

Labeling yourself a feminist is a huge spectrum now. You can be a feminist like Thucy said above, "When women get a say in what kind of sex they have, and how often, and how many children they have, and just get more of a say generally." Or you can be though crazy women who rip off their shirts and attack people they consider to be sexist.

While I agree with Thucy on the above, I do not with some of the craziness. Therefore, back to Thucy's original point, I do consider myself a feminist (not bra-burning, but equal rights. Including the right to be a housewife.) and I am for the legalization of all non-abortifacient birth control, and for sex education (though not necessarily the kind currently taught in public school... Because it is obviously working SO well...). I am especially for adoption, having adopted children in my family as well.

"This is fucking sick, I mean... those asshooles talking about baby body parts like commodities, justifying it because of laws..."

Don't be silly, JY. That human beings, aborted or not, are commodities is hardly a new feature of society.

As to the rest of you, I put this question: what would you do with the body parts once the abortion has been completed? There are numerous potential benefits for scientific testing, etc., so would it not be a good idea to sell them? It seems logical to me that you would want to recoup some of the costs associated with abortions (I don't know if Planned Parenthood charges for abortions or whatever, but I imagine it is at least subsidised) in a mutually beneficial trade.

I mean, it's not like they can make necklaces out of 'em.

@Thucy,

"Here's how feminism reduces abortions:

"When women get a say in what kind of sex they have, and how often, and how many children they have, and just get more of a say generally, guess what happens:"

Thanks for the clarification. I support women having a say in what kind of sex they have and how often, as well as a say generally.

How do you guys over there think that this will impact on the presidential election?
What has Hilary got to say on the matter? How will this impact on the Hispanic vote?

It might interest you to know that coverage of this story is around zero in the UK. For example, it doesn't appear anywhere on the BBC news home page. I have to say that doesn't surprise me in the least.
semck83 (229 D(B))
31 Jul 15 UTC
I don't see it impacting the Presidential election at all if the CMP's videos continue to be approximately as they are right now. It might lead to the ending of public funds for Planned Parenthood, depending how many Democrats feel pressure from home to override a veto. That, too, would require more than has currently happened.
fulhamish (4134 D)
31 Jul 15 UTC
Thanks semck. I guess I hoped that you would say that the Hispanic vote could be a game changer and that this issue would prove crucial in its allocation. Maybe that idiot Trump has derailed this already (?)

On the subject at hand the videos are more than distasteful, they are obscene. If you watch the full length versions they only get more so. To give but one example:

The talk of varying the abortion technique employed to enhance the recovery of tissues in demand (aka more expensive) such as the liver was obscene. And all over a nice salad lunch - that bitch should be struck off.

Abortion word games come to an end:

Ironic, isn't it? The courts protect their favorites, not allowing the pro-life organization to release the names of anyone involved in their stings. But it is *totally* OK for the anti-life side to put out names. No hypocrisy here.
thorfi (1023 D)
02 Aug 15 UTC
When you say "sting", you mean "entirely fabricated pack of lies", right? Because that's what this is, an entirely fabricated pack of lies.

Even in the edited video it's clear PP aren't selling body parts. Women choose to donate those, of their own volition sometimes to support medical research. Nobody forces them to, nobody pays them.

You may not agree with abortion, but clearly not everyone agrees.
semck83 (229 D(B))
02 Aug 15 UTC
@thorfi,

Whether PP is selling body parts illegally is not entirely clear from the videos so far released. There is some genuine evidence that they are, and some that they are not, so it is ambiguous.

However, the videos are not an "entirely fabricated pack of lies." PP did in fact say the things claimed, and many find those horrifying enough, irrespective of the technicalities with respect to the law.
fulhamish (4134 D)

Two points:
The executives at Planned Parenthood are a well paid bunch. Any income stream into the organisation serves to support their pay. Formally then, although the organisation is defined as not for profit, individuals do profit from this.
If the so called costs are a fixed amount, why do the negotiators talk of 'low balls' etc? Answer - they are negotiating to get their best price. They are even offering to 'improve' their product in order to get a better price. All sounds pretty commercial to me.

Hold your hats for the next instalments. Intact foetus'/babies command a premium price. Live births? Who then is the patient? One thing I am sure of is that Nelson or pretend it isn't happening tactics will be employed at that point, just as they were with those late abortions and murders in Philadelphia a couple of years back.
fulhamish (4134 D)
02 Aug 15 UTC
Didn't take too long: here it is:

http://liveactionnews.org/planned-parenthood-video-reveals-possibility-babies-born-alive-killed/

Sounds like Kermit Gosnell to me and he got convicted of murder. At the very least it is an obvious breaking of the Hippocratic Oath and those abortionists should as a minimum be struck off. An extract:

'' I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.''

Wait, isn't a paid adoption also "selling off baby parts for money?" Except it's a whole baby after it's born, right?
Randomizer (722 D)
02 Aug 15 UTC
Paid adoption is a legal term because sell people is also called slavery. Technically the money is to pay "expenses" instead of buying a baby, because that's illegal.

Even with an over supply of babies in the US that could be adopted, there is still strong demand for foreign babies. That's because it's less likely that the parents will try to get the children back at a later date. Though it does happen when the babies weren't legally adoptable because the parents hadn't permitted it. But American rights trump foreign family rights.

Meanwhile Indiana investigations cleared Planned Parenthood:
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2015/07/31/indiana-clears-planned-parenthood-of-wrongdoing/204705
fulhamish (4134 D)

''Wait, isn't a paid adoption also "selling off baby parts for money?" Except it's a whole baby after it's born, right? ''

Second/Third trimester abortions are definately ''whole babies''. I dont suppose that you will watch it but here is a link for you:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53tzMV9OmvY

Indeed, those are the dead babies that are sold by Planned Parenthood as their body parts are the most useful.

PS was it tough for you to use that 'baby' word? Are you sure that you didn't mean 'foetus' or 'product of conception'?

Unlikely percentages or Bad Luck on Computer Draw
I am sure I am not the only one who suffered from this but as I drew Italy for the 4th time in 5 classic games this summer I thought I would hear about others with similar strings of playing the same country. I have only played about 10 classic games from the start since I joined and even that is well above average percentages.
