Alright, I'll take a shot at an EOG.
I hate England. The only time I've ever been in a good position as England has been from a takeover. But that didn't mean I wasn't going to try. So I started talking around try to get people on my side. Turkey and I decided we wanted to take out Russia, and we decided the best way to do that was from help from Germany. The scariest thing, though, was that I couldn't for the life of me place what France was planning. It couldn't be too bad, right? We promised to DMZ the Channel. There was a very interesting bit about France telling me he wanted me and Germany to work against Russia. He said Germany should offer to let in Sweden in 1902. A gut feeling told me it was something to do with a plan to stab me. And Germany sure came across as wanting to attack Russia.
Then the first move rolled around, and everything about my plan turned on its head. France claimed he thought I was moving to the Channel, but I very well knew that to be false. There was nowhere for him to get that information. Russia claimed he heard rumors of a Western Triple, and that his fears of one were dissipating. At this point, I had to protect myself. I covered London because there was barely a chance I could trust France. Russia claimed he would let me have Norway, and that if would force it, he would move his army there to cover up us working together. But I didn't feel like I could force Norway, might as well try to move to Belgium, even though France told me he was going to support himself there. I tried to get him to put the fleet into Belgium, since he was claiming he wanted to reconcile. It would only make since, if he were telling the truth.
Then things went from bad to worse. No builds. France accused me of not wanting to reconcile because I tried to protect London, and Russia claimed I thought I was tricking him about not forcing Norway. And there was still a fleet in the Channel. To top all of that off, Germany was now openly telling me that all 3 were in an alliance. That's the most honesty I had received from any of them. I needed to extend for aid from the South. Turkey was trying to go anti-Russia, so he might be of assistance. Austria, though, looked like he would take a lot of convincing. He seemed to be playing for the other side. I called on Italy for some help, but it turned out he was in a Lepanto. My heart sank because my partner and I were dead, and there was hardly a way out of it. We both realized how screwed we were, as each of us had to take on 3 countries, with both of us fighting Russia. So I started desperately trying to negotiate myself back into the game so that I could live a little longer. Russia said he wouldn't let me have Norway, but he wouldn't push further against me. France joked that he wanted to see the queen.
Then he didn't. There was an army in Brest, and it was somewhat curious. I thought I was safe! He joked further that I could see he really DIDN'T want to see the queen. I was desperate now, not only to survive but also expand. Now France was wanting to work with me. We tried to convoy to Holland, while the entire alliance was falling apart around Germany. But he kept support holding, so I wasn't getting anywhere against him.
I decided I needed to reorganize. Russia wanted me out of the Norwegian Sea, and that he would support me to Denmark whenever I could under that condition. The fleet in the Channel made me still uncomfortable about France, so I was for a very short time planning to go against him. I moved my army and fleets so that if need be, I could take the Channel and maybe intimidate France. The entire time, though, I knew how bad of an idea that would be, because if I forced the Channel, he would move to Irish Sea and break me. I couldn't actually and actively be anti-France. The really bad part was that Germany supported Nwg-Nth. Why? That only made France suspicious of me. I had to run around convincing him I didn't know anything. At that point, I had to make the move to Denmark work right then. Russia and I were on it.
The convoy worked, and I got my first build in 1903! It was at this point that Russia and France began lobbying me for the rest of the game to attack one another, which continued quite literally until I finally died. But still, Germany also tried to get me to work with him again, and we planned to get me into Sweden. I was still desperate for Centers, so I decided to go with it. Then I found a French dagger in my back. Germany and I started coming undone, the Sweden plan didn't work, and now my island was turning blue. France carved a path all the way up to Edinburgh, and now Russia was taking Denmark. They were having a similar race in picking up SCs from Germany. Now my ally from the start, myself, and Germany were all coming to a close.
1906 I managed to keep the Channel empty. I would've otherwise died very quickly. France and Russia both saw me as an asset to use against the other from here, and both promised to let me have land again. Russia said he was going to let me have Edinburgh and then as much of France as I would like. After I was in North Sea, France promised me my entire island back. I knew they were both lying, and that either one would kill me given the opportunity, but I got the image of having more than one Center, and that was rather satisfying. 1907, I got my second build of the game. I died the following year because France put me and himself into a position to get him the entire island. I was hoping he might have the mercy to let me live a little longer, but, as Russia warned, that was the year of my death. I stayed in global chat on and off for a while to help see if there was a stalemate line at all.
TL;DR I hate England.

It would also turn out that Austria going along with Russia was a better idea than both ssorenn and I had both thought.
ssorenn (0 DX)

Austria was a dank lapdog. Italy deserved the draw much more than Austria. Sorry Kas, but any Austria that doesn't move out of its own boarder till 1909 is bonkers. All you did was play for the draw.
TrPrado (461 D)
26 Apr 15 UTC
Yeah, that was pretty harsh play. I also expected Russian stabs a few times in there. It looks, though, that that became a bad idea after you won the island. Whoever killed me off would have ended up as the solo threat, and since it was you, he and Austria needed each other.
ssorenn (0 DX)
26 Apr 15 UTC
I never really wanted to kill you off. Russia was wrong. The only reason I did, was Austria refused to attack Russia. I could not understand. There was a time when Russia had over a third of his forces in turkey. Austria could have picked off 3-4 sc easily. This was also way before I was a solo threat. He wouldn't try. Then when Austria finally killed Italy I needed units for my stalemate line in the south ASAP. And you were the easiest SC for builds I had
ssorenn (0 DX)
26 Apr 15 UTC
And what was the lay down by the Turk.
ckroberts (3548 D)
27 Apr 15 UTC
OK, here is a quick EoG that's more thematic than chronological. I think you've written useful ones so far. I feel like I played a good early game but faltered at the middle, then fine in the end. I will note, despite ssorenn's commitment to the lapdog conceit, Austria working with me got to the draw, England working against me did not.

So, I was Russia. Immediately, Germany was interested in moving against England, and Austria in working against Turkey. Great! Especially since Turkey was kind of being odd at the get-go, and I really was worried who England was aiming at.

Good start, but in 1902 I had limited press from Austria and plenty of talking with Turkey, so I stabbed Austria. I think Austria maybe had some real life interruptions? We made up and I focused on Germany instead, but I think that was kind of mistake. I always had Austria at a disadvantage, but not enough to make him do everything exactly as I said.

What I really wanted to do was to take all of Turkey and then help Italy divide up Austria, but Italy never went along. I really didn't do good press with Italy and England, or at least they weren't interested in going along. My first mistake in this game, what maybe sunk my solo hopes, was overbuilding in the south without ensuring Italian help. In 1905, I decided to force Italy out of Turkey, thinking he'd cut his losses. But nope, Italy just kept putting fleets in the south of me, trying to convoy as late as 1907. I was really worried about a potential Italian-Austrian alliance, which would have killed my shots. I should have just stabbed Austria and hoped for the best, but I let it be hinged on getting more builds than I could. Italy always seemed to think, and sometimes said explicitly, that he thought I was a solo threat; that discouraged me from trying as hard as I should have, I think. But maybe Italy was never really going to go along.

Which brings me to the other problem, which was in the north. I was trying to get England on board helping me against France. I was going to either get a solo with English help and get him a survival, or put him a draw (I don't care about draw size, and keeping him in wouldn't have bumped me from game 2). We had France outnumbered in fleets, it looked like it was going to be great. But in fall 1907, England took Edi from me, which I had taken from France. With Italy apparently moving on Austria and me able to force disband an Italian fleet, I was going to stab Austria then. But things turned bad in the north and I decided not to do so. I don't really blame England for this, a chance for two centers instead of one is entirely understandable.

Things seemed to get back on track and I was getting ready to try again in 1908, but France decided to finish off England and got all those builds. France had too many fleets for me to feel confident I could race to the solo; already a cautious player, I decided it was better to stay on the mountain for the next game.

What I should have done, in hindsight, was wait to stab Germany. He would have been a strong bulwark against France and England. It would have been an easier dance to just figure out Austria and Turkey and Italy. But I was hoping I could get to Munich faster than France could. I wasn't able to, and it was dumb to think I could.

TrPrado, is there anything I could have done to get you to go along as a one-to-two-center junior partner in the north?

CK, you promised England his whole island back. As soon as you took EDI, it gave me the diplomatic leed and I gave him his second SC As I said before, I wanted to keep England around except your lapdog Austria who should have stabed you for 3 years wanted nothing to do with it. I had no way to get the units in the south without taking England's. Otherwise Austria could have over run me

When a game should be cancelled in all manners of courtesy, are you justified in a CD? Lets imagine there are multiple CDs or a major power like Russia, Austria, France, or Germany CDs and the game refuses to cancel is it wrong to not waste your time and simply CD as well?

Fleet travel through enemy waters
Can a fleet move from Belgium to Holland if another country's fleet occupies the North Sea? The fleet obviously cannot travel by land between the two areas and therefore must leave the harbors in Belgium (entering the North Sea waters) follow the coastline, and enter the Holland harbors (leave the N Sea waters).
