Let's keep it civil and discuss this. Perhaps a different policy is in order.

Cutting a support move for your own unit
I'm sure you cannot cut support move for your own unit by hitting the unit that is supporting your other unit. However if another player is supporting the move of your unit would hitting the unit of the other player that is supporting yours cut the support for your own unit.

brora (100 D)
20 Jul 14 UTC
Wut! Are you saying Wendy's doesn't do those flabby square patties any more? I used to love those. Especially when jammed together in a half-pounder? (Is that the world's largest fast-food burger? Does anyone else do a half-pounder or larger?) They stopped doing business in the Uk about ten or twenty years ago and I never had one in the States.
Draugnar (0 DX)
20 Jul 14 UTC
Triples were even better. 3/4 pounders. And Burger King does a triple whopper which is a full pound as the Whopper patty is 1/3rd pound. But no, Wendy's changed to a "premium" patty to compete with 5 Guys, but it is a crap burger. No flavor at all.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Jul 14 UTC
You realize those are the precooked weights, right guys? You don't get nearly what they advertise. When sit-down restaurants advertise their half-pounders, most are presenting the after-cooked weight (Matt, if you're reading this, I could really use a good reference, and I still know the other things too...). You should always check to see if the number advertised is precooked or not, because by advertising the precooked weight they make their burgers look a lot cheaper than they are when they are really not that much cheaper than a good half-pounder at a decent sit-down place.
Draugnar (0 DX)
20 Jul 14 UTC
Actually, sit downs are also precooked weights. They use a better grade of beef with less fat so you get more after cooked weight. But try cooking up a pound of 73/27 ground beef (the cheap stuff) and eating it. It's still a hell of a lot of meat.
trip (696 D(B))
20 Jul 14 UTC
@ bo: the determination of food's weight is always precooked. If not, chefs would have to weigh out burgers differently based on the temperature they cooked them to..and you can bet no self-respecting chef would add meat to a well done burger.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Jul 14 UTC
No, many places advertise aftercooked weight. They'll offer you a half pounder, 8 ounce burger, which is around 11 ounces precooked. If you cook it longer, it will be a little bit lighter. The place I worked at for a couple of years is famous for its full pounder and everyone reads on the menu that it's 22 ounces precooked. The advertised weight is based on medium well and everyone has that information at their disposal. You get ripped off by precooked weight.
trip (696 D(B))
20 Jul 14 UTC
Precooked weight is an industry standard. It's perfectly fine to go over it, like the place you worked, but if a restaurant gets a visit from the Department of Weights and Measures and they're not weighing out pre-cooked product to the advertised weight, then fines will be handed out.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
20 Jul 14 UTC

Basing recipies on the weight that things would be *after* they have been cooked make no sense.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 Jul 14 UTC
That's why places do it. It's noteworthy that you aren't ripping people off.

If you're going to kill yourself, do it at Rally's.

Five Guys is terrible. Their fries are godawful.
trip (696 D(B))
21 Jul 14 UTC
Places that follow the laws of the land are not ripping people off, bo. Any poster or sign that shows the weight of a burger must contain a disclaimer stating that the weight is precooked.

I'm the COO of a specialty foods and catering company, so I'm not just making this stuff up.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 Jul 14 UTC
Because a COO would never make an excuse for ripping people off. If you're advertising an 8 ounce burger, serve an 8 ounce burger. Don't cook it down under 6 ounces and call it 8 but clear yourself with some tiny print that no one without a high powered microscope handy can read. I'm glad I worked at a place that cared about making their customers happy consistently and providing great service and great people as they did about making money.

bo, just because you're uniformed, doesn't mean that I'm ripping people off.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 Jul 14 UTC
Who are you, krellin? Yeah, it's a rip off that places advertise something different than what they sell and cover themselves legally with fine print. You make a lot of money off of it so of course it means nothing to you.
Draugnar (0 DX)

It's not a rip off. Only an idealistic kid would think it is.

Essay help
So I have to write an essay on the Caribbean, and the topic I chose was the economic effects of colonization in the Caribbean from the 15th to 18th century.
I want the arguments to focus on how colonization benefit or hurt the economy, e.g. gold, sugar, slave trade

Is it okay to ask for help from outside a game?
I would really appreciate some outside help with games I'm playing, kind of like tutoring, and I don't want to ask for help if you feel that it's unfair or whatever. I'm new around here, but enjoying the experience. I haven't played in -cough, cough- years and am glad I found this place. Thanks.

All this one-sided talk of Israel today reminded me why we have a nation in the first place - World War II. It also reminded me why the Jewish religion still exists, because of people like Winton. If you don't know the story:
