Did anyone miss Putin33?
After a couple of days, and seeing him participate in a few heated arguments, I ask the population of webDip. Did you miss Putin33? I know I did. Whether for laughing at him and his ideology, glad of a champion of your ideology, someone to defend Russia, or someone else to call krellin names, who had SOME reason to be glad he is back?

Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:
(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5
So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

One great reason to drive a Mercedes...
Roadside service for life... Just saved me a headache and a bill. Had a blowout, made a phone call, 30 minutes later, they are changing my tire and setting up an appointment for tomorrow morning to get the blown one replaced.

@abge - I'm not about to ruin a $500 suit for a spare. You may ruin your suits, but they probably are bought off the rack at Sears.

There's also the little matter of quite a lot of people getting hit while changing spares.

But you know, manliness before safety.
Draugnar (0 DX)

What? Abge said he'd change a tire in a suit. I seriously doubt he would if it was a suit from Joseph A Banks and not a cheap "need it for the rare occasion I need a suit" Sears or JC Penny's off the rack suit.

"I seriously doubt he would if it was a suit from Joseph A Banks and not a cheap "need it for the rare occasion I need a suit" Sears or JC Penny's off the rack suit."

And even in jeans, why should I, a nearly 50 year old man, change a flat when I *have* the service. It took less than an hour. The wife and I went into Ruby Tuesday's and had a drink while we waited for the tech to show up then ate dinner when he was done.

I have road flares if I really need them. Why should someone else be put in danger because I can't be bothered to change my own tire?

And you'd risk damaging a JA Banks wool suit? And they say *I* have way too much disposable income.

Just so you are all aware, I pulled into a parking lot as it was right there and I wasn't on the highway.

@Draug

No one cares if you change your own tire or not. We just aren't impressed with your bragging.

No, I wouldn't risk damaging an expensive suit, but changing a tire isn't the same as rebuilding a transmission. I can do it without looking like a grease monkey afterwards.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
28 Jun 14 UTC
Besides, if you're driving and your tire goes flat, that doesn't prevent you from using your flashers.

"And you'd risk damaging a JA Banks wool suit? And they say *I* have way too much disposable income."

I don't think they say that -- I think they just say you spend the money you do have on luxuries that constitute questionable financial decisions, and then act like a jackass trying to make everyone feel like you're better than they are because you can afford them.
ssorenn (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
@Draug, as i agree there's no reason for me to actually do that work when i can have someone do it for me, how does that justify attacking someone for the clothes they might wear..... you talk like you think your better than everyone because of things you might have...
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
"I can do it without looking like a grease monkey afterwards"

Really? Cause I have to get down on the ground and look under the car for the jack point on the frame or unibody. You can't just shove the scissor jack under any ol' part of the car, ya know. I know how to do it. Hell, I used to change my own oil and filter in the various Jeeps I've had and still do in the riding mower.

I can't tell who is the more pathetic cockalorum. The guy who is bragging about having a Mercedes or the guy who brags about changing tires in Jos A suits.
semck83 (229 D(B))
28 Jun 14 UTC
Incidentally, when I say that the luxuries constitute questionable financial decisions, let me clarify myself. I mean that they constitute questionable decisions *as financial decisions.*

If you want to buy a Mercedes because it's a wonderful car and driving it will bring you joy, then go for it! Good for you that you have the disposable income to pull it off.

If you want to buy a Mercedes and then convince yourself somehow that it was actually a financially better way to get around town -- eh... yeah, sorry. You lose that one.

If you want to buy a Mercedes and then take every opportunity you can to find a way to mention that you have a Mercedes so that people will be impressed by your money, then you're a jackass, and you're the only person who has been party to one of those conversations and doesn't know it.

@ssorenn and semck - Note above how much I paid for the C300. 25K. It's nicer than my brother in laws brand new Camry in every way and yet cost *less* because I bought a fleet car just off lease. I was truly touting the virtues of the service Mercedes gives. When they give free roadside service to the second owner of a car out of warranty just because he spends a couple hundred a year in maintenance with them, I conside that pretty good. As far as reliability... One battery and one tire on a 5 year old car with 60K. Not too bad.

@Putin

I'm not trying to brag. My entire point was that changing a tire is very simple and pretty much anyone can do it if they need to.
Draugnar (0 DX)
28 Jun 14 UTC
I bought it cause it is comfortabke with all the bells and whistles (leather, power everything, one touch controls, auto lights and wipers, etc), has enough get up and go to get out into traffic from a side street (wouldn't try that with the Camry V6 that seems to putter up to speed) and this one happens to have the 4Matic - very important for Cincinnati winters. It was between that, a BMW 3 series, or a Caddy. My mother in law could no longer climb in and out of the Jeep Liberty at 86 so I got something she could get in and out of yet wasn't a Chevy, Ford, or Japanese junk.
Putin33 (111 D)
28 Jun 14 UTC
You're not trying to brag you're just mentioning in passing that you'd be happy to change a tire in a suit and buy all your clothes from one very expensive store?

Ok. And Draugnar's not trying to brag either I guess.

semck83 (229 D(B))
28 Jun 14 UTC
Oh and also, there's really no call to call Japanese cars "junk." That's not going to impress anybody who knows anything about cars (in fact, it makes you sound kind of stupid), and if you're talking to somebody who doesn't know much about cars, why insult their car?

If you have a Mercedes, enjoy it because you love Mercedes and you have it. Don't feel the need to believe that other options are trash. They're not. Some of them are pretty great as well.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

OK, sorry for the delay...and the continued delay--we'll start Midnight tonight. ORWELL! DICKENS! POE! TOLKIEN! Who will advance?

And a bonus question, just for schnicks and giggles--what's the first book you read after high school (or, if it was a while ago, the earliest book you can remember reading after high school?) Just curious to see what we get.
