Did anyone miss Putin33?
After a couple of days, and seeing him participate in a few heated arguments, I ask the population of webDip. Did you miss Putin33? I know I did. Whether for laughing at him and his ideology, glad of a champion of your ideology, someone to defend Russia, or someone else to call krellin names, who had SOME reason to be glad he is back?

I'm just so happy to see him again! It's like having that shitty little nose-picker brother that you can kick the shit out of whenever the cat isn't available to swing by the tail into a tree stump.

Mr. Putin for someone who thinks he's so smart, your not very good at this game, nor are you a good sport, with all those CD's to your credit

Or I don't care and don't feel like wasting 3 extra hours simply because people want to drag out a live game.

Numbers do not tell context.

So sportsmanship means nothing to you?

I despise his politics...and I think he's a smug prick...

But it takes all kinds to make this website.

He's been here long enough that he's just kind of the community.

Look at my games and tell me I'm not sporting. I've drawn with opponents when I was assured victory, even though that I never encounter that behavior myself. I've stuck around many a game when my position was hopeless. It's just a play nothing but live games and things can go south very quickly, when multiple people CD but certain people love cheap wins and drag things out.

People are too mean to Putin. I'm not saying he's innocent, but someone like krellin can be even more insufferable and get away with it because people share his opinions. Can't we just appreciate all of the wonderfully crazy people who make the forum what it is?
ssorenn (0 DX)

We have all done it. I did when I first started on this site, and did not even know these stats were kept. Doesn't make it right, so now I don't ever do it now. You are right that the CDS on this site are out of control, but someone who thinks their so bright and smug, I would have thought you to be the ultimate sportsman.....guess I'm wrong

I'm not muting him, what I've learned being here is anything goes....if I have to deal with mapleleaf, dealing with Putin is easy. At least, he can articulate his opinions, even though I don't agree with most

I don't care. I play for fun, not to impress people with a resume.
Putin33 (111 D)
01 Jul 14 UTC
I find it far less sporting to insist on a cheap victory when all your opponents CD then to resign. But that behavior is not taken into account. Most of the 'great players' seem to have inflated their stats with that kind of thing.

I know SplitDiplomat & Al Swearengen have.
I didn't miss him, mostly because I didn't have much interaction with him before, but it's good that he's back now. I was beginning to feel that our complement of opinionated, overly-passionate windbags was not nearly full enough (as one of those with windbaggish tendencies, I know whereof I speak and was feeling distinctly minoritized), and his return therefore makes for a refreshing change of scene.

The forum is a significantly more enjoyable place when Putin's about. I find his style quite refreshing. He is also one of the few people on this forum who actually reads what people say.
KingCyrus (511 D)

Actually Jamie, I enjoy having Putin back. Do I agree with him all the time? No. But he provides opinions that most people don't agree with, and therefore enables us to develop our understanding. More opinions are a GOOD thing. Even if we don't agree. Sorry to cause offense. Honestly. But I am glad Putin is back.

Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:
(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5
So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

The Favorite Author Tournament: THE FINAL FOUR!
OK, sorry for the delay...and the continued delay--we'll start Midnight tonight. ORWELL! DICKENS! POE! TOLKIEN! Who will advance?

And a bonus question, just for schnicks and giggles--what's the first book you read after high school (or, if it was a while ago, the earliest book you can remember reading after high school?) Just curious to see what we get.
