I see this is a discussion on whether links to pornography should be allowed on the site.

I strongly hope the decision of the mods will be that all links to "pornographic" material will be immediately removed and the people who post them muted.

I believe a lot of people who open this site at work and don't mind their bosses seeing them debate about a variety of issues from time to time, would mind if all sorts of adult material is mixed with that.

Draug loves porn because he is that hairy mustached pizza delivery guy in all those movies. Removal of porn threads will eat into his bottom line.

JMO is working almost singlehandedly (no offense to other part-time mods who's availability varies wildly from week to week) to find and investigate multis, respond to the email box, monitor the forums, and do everything else mods have to do. Kestas isn't very involved at this point either. I have a ton of respect for what he's doing and it makes me mad when you guys sit here and jump down his throat because he didn't word something to your satisfaction. You could have gone to Google and found 1000 porn sites and porn forums reviewing the best porn sites, but apparently you are fighting for some kind of free speech purity on webdip that will never be satisfactory. It's one of the reasons I quit -- having every single move and word questioned without ever being able to talk back freely without having things escalate is exceptionally frustrating.

JMO, from my experience being a mod on a similar site: Don't even respond to/get involved in anything in the forum other than blocking inappropriate material. If anyone has a problem they can mail in a complaint, and if it is anything dumb like this you can just delete it. Otherwise you will be face a mob of trolls who don't have anything better to do than waste your time arguing for their freedom to post porn.

I think it's just not necessary on the site. Yes swearing and political arguments gone awry are a major part of the forum but that's understandable and I daresay a tad more acceptable. I'm exposed to swearing every day and political arguments amongst my peers. I'm 16 and I know many other "kids" who use Webdiplomacy. I play here on a daily basis and I love the site. I like being able to access it from school or anywhere I want. I could easily be blocked from the site if you just start blatantly posting porn. I understand the free speech argument and all but there is a place for porn. As someone mentioned there is graphic content all over the Internet. Why do you need to bring it to webdip? There is a plethora of other sites designed for you to discuss your preference and whatever else you want to do with your private time. Please go to one of those sites and leave me my Webdiplomacy

Why are there so many negative comments about kids in school playing Diplomacy. Students, just like everybody else, get breaks, you know. We're not talking about people being on this site in the middle of class.

ILN: I was 17 when I joined this site, but I definitely would have joined earlier had I found it. Anyone that age interested in Diplomacy is leaps and bounds more intellectual, intelligent and mature than, say, krellin is.

I think people are forgetting that we weren't posting pornography, we were posting sources to pornography. Big difference in this case.

I started playing Diplomacy via email when I was 12. Had I know about this site back then, I would definitely have joined.

The web didn't exist when I was 12. :-(

having said that, without knowing the history of this site I'm not sure that it existed back then. The point, however, is that there are people much younger than 18 who play diplomacy.

For the most part they do, but I also live by treat others how you want to be treated. Lately the forum members have been complete assholes to the moderators, enough so that it drove a mod to resign. I'm not sure who you all think is going to keep the site running if they drive all the moderators away by being abusive to no end.

@BrewMachine, the courts don't view posting links to stolen music any different then hosting it, posting links to porn may as well be posting porn.

I know of at least 10 members who are under 14, and there are at least 5 different school groups of 10+ people who are under 18 years old, who generally avoid the forum, and play private games.
