Scottish MP on trial for lying
Here's a fascinating case. A Member of Parliament actually being taken to court for lying - and in his defence, admitting that he lied, but arguing that's just something politicians do, so he shouldn't be held to account for it.

Is it allowed for me to specifically join a game together with my friend(s), so we can work together and easily dominate a game? It's technically not multying yet I thought there was something against it in the rules.. Can't find it anymore though.

Facts based discussion on climate change
Nobody denies that the earth changes. Mountains form with shifting plate tectonics. We had an Ice Age, and then the Ice Age went away. All without man on the earth. Yes, climate changes. Let’s have a facts based discussion on climate change.

"No facts have been provided. Only opinions."

Many facts have been provided, BOG. You retreat to the point where the latest barrage of facts stops, point out that these facts are incomplete (as will *always* be the case in scientific endeavors), and proceed from there to claim that no facts have been provided. But just because you don't acknowledge them doesn't mean they aren't there.

I know your playbook. You'll respond by asking me to show you the facts/math/data supporting AGW, repeat the trite inanity that models can be surprised as if that invalidates all model-making, repeat the trite inanity that the climate changes naturally as if that invalidates all human influences, repeat the trite inanity that energy comes from the sun as if that invalidates the question of how much of that energy we capture, repeat the trite inanity that CO2 is a small fraction of the atmosphere as if that invalidates the particular influence CO2 has on heat capture, repeat the trite inanity that plants capture more CO2 when there's more CO2 as if that doesn't lead to a higher equilibrium CO2 concentration, and/or throw in one or two others I didn't bother to remember. (Something something communism.)

But you see, we don't have to show you anything. You put up a facade of reasonableness, but you won't be convinced by anything (despite your inevitable protest that you're just waiting for someone to "show you facts"). On the other hand, anyone else who reads this thread can see the complete dominance of arguments showing AGW exists over your baseless protests. Your protests prolong this display; they do not reverse it.

Having contributed my own understanding to the discussion, I'm satisfied to leave it here. Have a nice life, BOG.

Leth "But you see, we don't have to show you anything."

Exactly. Your beliefs do not need facts. You have a religion of climate change.

I'm now picturing BOG as Mr. Scrooge, laying on his bed, grumpy-faced, bitter that Global Warming is coming, and saying, 'Bah! Humbug!'
@BOG - that still means there is global warming. That has been measured and is undeniable. We still need to find ways to prevent those populations who are most vulnerable to desertification/rising sea levels, etc. Because of the attention being given to global warming - man-made or no - important research is being done in these areas.

gold " that still means there is global warming. " So why is the ice growing at the Antarctic? Global warming would suggest a shrinking
Just because the planet is warming as a whole doesn't mean its warming on every part of the planet. North America has experienced colder than average weather, but Europe and elsewhere have been much warmer than average, so on a whole the planet is warming.

Gold "so on a whole the planet is warming" Except for the facts that show otherwise,
Here is a page that can direct you to some resources showing that temperature on a whole is rising. Even anthropomorphic climate change deniers usually accept this as fact.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumental_temperature_record
BOG - please show me the facts that the earth is not warming on average. You have pointed out that a portion of Antarctica is increasing the amount of ice it has (which does not mean it is cooler than average, by the way)
damian (675 D)

This is worth noting.
BOG: The NASA study on Antarctic land ice that you are citing only uses data that goes up to 2008 ("The study analyzed changes in the surface height of the Antarctic ice sheet measured by radar altimeters on two European Space Agency European Remote Sensing (ERS) satellites, spanning from 1992 to 2001, and by the laser altimeter on NASA’s Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite (ICESat) from 2003 to 2008."). Data from the Grace satellite, which has measurements from 2002 to 2014 (http://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/land-ice/) showed a net gain in Antarctic ice mass from 2002 to 2007 (and a mix of gains and losses is 2008) followed by a net loss of Antarctic ice mass from 2009 onwards.

Suffice to say, Antarctic ice mass is not at the highest amount measured and has actually been losing mass. This is a fact.

BOG you confuse your limited understanding of the topic with "no-facts", while providing literally no evidence that would back up your alternative theory with the sun.

I envy you. If you were more knowledgeable you'd feel ashamed of how badly you performed in a topic of your own choosing, in a forum you had started. Be happy you were spared from that but I'd advise against getting into another discussion unless you improve your debating skills, or your scientific understanding, or both.

See you on the battlefield.

Why the college football Playoff committee should be fired
Biggest cause for concern I have in year 2 of this so called "system" is that for the first 4 weeks of these people sitting down to rank everyone they come up with even worse logic than the coaches and AP polls.
I realize you cant get everything right all the time, but this years first ranking feels more like a house of cards just begging to be knocked down.
