A game says it paused on my Notices but did not pause
gameID=12152, Acorrding to my Notices:
Plan of peace
Game has been paused. Thu 09 PM
However, the game seems not to have been paused, maybe because of the reset phase times, and Italy has already gone into civil disorder. How is this sort of thing fixed?

[SoW3 - Official Commentary - gameid=11113]

I'll start off with some general comments.

Notice how Germany, Italy, and Austria are all pretty much dead at this point? This is what I call "failure to secure a corner." If you are a middle power, you usually are going to need to carve out a corner for yourself in order to win. This allows you to keep empty SCs behind your front lines. When your fronts are on all sides you simply don't have enough manpower to cover everything.

Italy
Is that disco music I hear? The Bee Gees? Stayin' Alive!! Good job taking an SC =)

Russia
Nicely done gaining a build!!! Now see if you can't try to start a bidding war over your services.

[SoW3 - Official Commentary Continued... - gameid=11113]

Ooops...didn't mean to hit post reply just then...

England/France
Looks like England finally no longer had a use for all those fleets in the north. Now they will come around the side. It will be interesting to see if real attacks take place or if there will just be pre-arranged bounces to keep everything safe. If it was meant to be a real attack it was rather unfrtunate in its timing since France has two builds.

The other interesting thing to note here is how England's abundance of fleets are now keeping him from being able to make a stab at France in the Germany area.

Turkey
Hopefully England's moves toward France are the result of your diplomacy. I don't think that is terribly likely though since the two of you obviously couldn't come to any kind of agreement over Moscow.

Final Comments
This game appears to be on course for a E/F/T three-way. I'm looking forward to seeing if the players have any more tricks up their sleeves =)

[SoW3 - Official Commentary - gameid=11113]

Again, I just want to agree with Jacob, not just because we are playing in a game together, but because things get murky at this point from a commentators perspective.

The really big point is the not find a corner problem. And by corner, he means any hotspot where you might be able to hang on.

It could be a three way, but if I'm France, I'm pushing for a two way with England (France is past that oh-so-important Ionian bottleneck so Turkey is in trouble) but then hoping for a last minute push to get him 18. The builds will probably be fleets to keep England at bay. Only France can solo at this point I think, so England and Turkey better be talking. Don't go through the motions in what could be game changing.

i think the inability to see it on firefox might be hindering some people. i don't really feel qualified to comment, but i guess something is better than nothing. i'll use IE for once and write some thoughts when i'm at work.

I see the forum has been tweaked (threads paginated) so that might help. Haven't tried it in Firefox yet. I'm using Chrome atm would you believe (which has its own problems!)

The forum looks fine on Firefox. I don't know whether that's due to my upgrading to 3.5.1 or if something on the server side changed.

Awesome stab. Amazing. Way to get that France guy under wraps. A God-send for Turkey. Basically, any "win" talk would now be about how France might collapse if he collapses. Turkey should probably use a hands off approach so England doesn't benefit a lot, so he can wipe the floor with the motley crue of R/A/I.

Remember to count to 18 guys. England for example has ten centres, with St Petes coming for 11. He won't be able to hold Warsaw or Moscow from Turkey, so its all French territory. So he will need to take Belgium, Munich, France, Spain and Portugal to win. Everyone needs to keep the count in mind.

But always think three way draw because thats always the most likely.

i was going to comment on SoW II [ gameID=10963 ] but the turn is almost up.

nothing too surprising anyway, russia stabbed austria-hungary as expected. england and france continue to act like chickens with their heads cut off, while italy puts up the good fight against the dominating powers.

basically, all the minor powers need to get it together or russia gets a solo, i'd say. russia is at 14 now, and with the continued english acquiescence, will easily pick up a few more. could good luck for italy, who maybe can get some austro-hungarian pressure off now, but maybe not. and france has a hard call - get rid of obnoxious england who keeps helping russia in any case, and risk the russian solo, or try to work with england, who may well just keep fighting on behalf of russia. france's fleets could really help an anti-russian coalition, but i don't know if he'll go for it. similar story for italy.

i'm no expert, but figured some commentary was better than none. all of it is pretty obvious, in any case, so kinda redundant no doubt. maybe something more insightful after the turn drops?

So, I was wondering...
I'm supporting my fleet with two of my armies to a territory.
The enemy support-holds his army in the aforementioned territory with only one army. Normally, I would win. However, if he attacks one of my supporting armies that are in adjacent territories - does he manage to defend himself? A hasty reply would be good.
Thanx in advance!

I see it sitting there, started with 2 parties having left... I'd be interested in joining it but because it's locked, that's a bit hard. It seems silly to have a game just sitting there unplayable.

The green dots telling you that someone is currently logged on
I might be wrong about this but I have the feeling that those green dots also show up sometimes although the person is not online.
Just had that in one of my games where there was a dot after the French, that was then gone some minutes afterwards. Still it says: last logged on some hours ago.

Updated, not Finalized
Just starting on PHP, though I've played on FB a bit. On FB, if you update but do not Finalize, the updates go through as your moves. Is that the case here?
Looking forward to this site. Hope to see a lot less people bailing on games early.
