I know but that is always a risk. I think following Geofram's example in the previous Gunboat Tournament and having games start with a 10 day phase to easily iron out problems like this would have been a better way to start and would have averted a lot of the problems we are suffering at the moment.

My original comment wasn't a criticism towards you though, trip. I commend you for trying to organise this. I just think the games should be cancelled and restarted if they are meant to be fair and balanced.

trip, dont lose faith, you have done a good job. Mod participation was zero here, that was the problem. I think we have two choice to go ons:
1. A mod comes up in this thread, explains what he can and will do, and makes a promise he helps trip ironing things out in three days.
2. We just go without special mod attention, and do not try to enforce the multiple country rule.
Please pick one and let us do it.

Oh my goodness. Mapleleaf, there is just no need for that. Why you guys are being so catty to each other I really have no idea.

I'm not in this tourny (generally hate gunboat), but seeing all the bitching and everything, I had to break it and see maple's argument. On this one, I have to back him. You should *never* make a thread on the forum required reading for a torunament. Keep any notices up to date on the tourny page so everyone knows to read them or PM the player in question. Expecting someone to follow a thread that grows like some of these here do just to glean a little detail about what you want them to do is unreasonable.

That's fine, but you really should at least put things like "Pause as soon as the game starts in phase whatever for sorting nations" on the tourny's rule page. Just sayin'.

Let's get all these games cancelled and start this fresh with clear instructions. Problwm here was too many voices. I'm happy with bihary's second alternative.

A request to cancel all the games has been sent. Not sure how long it will take for that to happen though.

Group C doesn't really need a cancel! In fact, if we are to scrap the demand for a non-repeated country allocation, we're ready to go on! We'd only need to change the phase length to 36h, though.

@JesusPetry: If this is to really work, it would surely be better for all Groups to follow the same process. If the tournament is to restart, everyone should. Having some Groups carry on and others restart just adds to the confusion rather than help clear it away.

Also, I completely agree with Draugnar's reasoning - having to trawl through the thread to glean tidbits of regulation and new information can be frustrating. My criticism was against the petty name-calling that was unnecessary and distracting.

Thanks, Sargmacher. And you'll note, while I did back maple's argument, I didn't say anything untowards to the toruny admin (trip). After all, that is a tough job, running a tourny. I don't do it for good reason. I like keeping my hair and my sanity. Whiel maple be offensive pretty much all the time, on this one isntance, he at least had a valid point. It just risked getting lost in the backlash of his poor communication skills. :-)

Starting a new thread called "Tournament Announcements - GT11" or the like, where only you are supposed to post, and putting up the link on the website might be a good idea. One could continue to use this thread to post queries or simply PM you, in case of responses that concern only that person, you would PM back, and more general notices would go to that thread.

All the games need to be cancelled, except for Group A's if it's paused before the end of the current phase. Until that happens, nothing happens.

The only way I see this working is to go for as little Mod intervention as possible, so you get what you get when drawing countries.

Once the games are cancelled, I will start a thread like santosh suggested and games will be created.

If anyone wants out, or has any questions, please contact me through PM.
All replacements will keep their spots.

Maybe one suggestion. After creating games I would wait only 36 hours. If all invited players would not join in this time I would send a password to substitutes.
