I have told my minister of the mother of a friend on a forum I frequent. I thought adding "Conservative Man's mom" to the prayer list might be a bit awkward. But Pastor Josh is praying and my wife and I both are.

Dear Lord God, we hold up CM's mom to you and ask that you first relieve her suffering, and then we would like her to be completely and fully healed. Please help CM to be a comfort to her, even if she's not able to respond. I ask these things in the name of Jesus your son.

Yes. Emotions are likely to be unpredictable, odd-feeling, and all over the place; also not necessarily what you expect or want them to be.

All emotions that you feel are normal in these circumstances CM, people react differently to these kinds of events, but each of their reactions is normal.

Stay off this site indefinitely, Conservative Man. You should be with your family at a time like this. Those people actually matter.

My brother had a brain aneurysm when he was 7 and I was 5 - Your emotions are quite normal and I can tell you that you will have a large mixture of them.

As for staying away...I don't think you should. I think even in our times of stress it is good to have a distraction, a connection to the "real world", as right now your world has probably collapsed in to a narrow, horrifying singularity of emotional pain. I would encourage you to use this social resource as an outlet...PM those you are close with and share feelings you might not be comfortable sharing with family -- because not all members of all families are good sounding boards...but you will find kind ears / eyes hear to your plight.

It feels like it, I am sure...but your world will not end...it will just change, no matter the outcome - be strong, my friend, and know that you are cared for by this community.

I just talked to my dad on the phone; he was at the hospital. My mom is very unstable and she probably won't make it through the night. He's going to take me to the hospital when he gets home.

I'm so sorry CM. Words can not express the pain and grief you must be feeling now. My deepest condolgences lay with you and your family.
