@dubmdell, if you somehow manage to get 16 other people to play you might want to consider calling this a tournament and having everyone agree to rules that will cover any situations like tasnica covered. That's what I and goldfinger have done with the SoW games recently.

Even setting up the country selections and sending out invites etc. is going to be a bitch. I really hope I have the points by then.

Country selections aren't too hard. Just put the 17 nations in a random order, randomly assign each player to one, and then move everyone one spot down the list for each game.

Oh, and then shuffle the order of the games, so that players can't figure out the order of the list from their selections.

It's still 289 countries that have to be manually entered.

Okay, per jmo's recommendation, this is now the Around the World Map Gunboat Tournament. By signing up, you agree to the following (OPEN FOR DEBATE):
- 17 concurrent games, one game as each nation
- 50 hour phases
- WTA
- anon
- no press
- ready up preferred (not required)
- only prearranged pauses
- 5 bets for a total of 85 buy-in

NMR policy: if an NMR occurs, the mods will be notified to pause any affected games while they attempt to contact the player. If human error, the player will be allowed to return. If instead the player is leaving the site (as Tasnica pointed out), then the game(s) will remain paused while we find a replacement. As much as this may drag out the tournament if someone leaves us, I think this is a better alternative to having excessively ruined games.

Point allocations:
For a solo, +100
In the event of a draw, points will be given out based on continent(s) controlled.
Asia: +25
Africa: +20
N. America: +15
S. America: +10
Europe: +10
Antarctica: +5
Australia: +5
Hopefully, this will discourage premature draws by encouraging players to steal a single center from a continent of another power to take away points they would otherwise earn. The points are lopsided towards larger continents since they're harder to maintain.

Again, if anything seems unreasonable to you, bring it up for debate. We can talk out any point of contention you may have.

Well, if we assume that we will have no draws larger than 10, we can use 2520. That has all numbers 1-10 as factors.

I am quite hesitant about the continent idea. The world map was not designed with continent control in mind, so it could considerably stack the game in favor of certain powers (yes, I know we play all powers, but it would be nice if we had an equal shot in all games). Additionally, it all but wreaks alliances on the same continent, which will have considerable consequences.
