Mod Question

So, if a player gets banned that you have played with, is there a system that reimburses points? for example a PPSC or a WTA that was drawn. Or is that out of the question? Just asking :)

High Pot Game

I lean toward 48 hours over 36, myself, though the latter is workable. 24 is too short for me.

I can do 12+ and any bet up to 105. However, I would prefer it be WTA. Would you be willing to do WTA Indy? PPSC tends to make people do stupid things like not try to prevent a solo :/

I'd be willing to participate. I'd probably prefer WTA but I'm willing to give PPSC a go. I think everyone who will be playing will play in the spirit of the game.

PPSC could be a fun change of pace. It adds a different factor to people's motivations and goals, which is interesting to account for in one's negotiations.

Few questions.

1. Am I allowed to play?
2. Is the anonymous factor non-negotiable?
3. Is 1.5 day phase length acceptable?
4. If playing PPSC, are we playing WTA-in-spirit, or PPSC-in-spirit?

We can make it non-anon if thats what you want not a big deal to me, i put it there in the first place because usually i find that the majority of people prefer anon to non-anon

This would be a good game for you to get back into the full press non-live game, PE. With Indy and Tasnica (and maybe Lando), it will definitely be a challenge (and lots of GR to gain!!!!!!)

I would prefer to go with whatever you want, GDF, this is your game, I would say that I like non-anonymous games better.

@President re: (4), I think everyone is entitled to play the game however they see fit.

@PE sure you can play why not, the more talented players the better :) , and to me anon or non-anon does not really matter to me as much as it might matter to other people, 1.5 sounds great and i mean everyone will play different but i mean you should always play to win but still be rewarded for coming close to the top of the board.

I'd like non-anon but it's not a dealbreaker. True points re: 4, I was just trying to get a survey ahead of time but that makes sense. 1.5 day phases are the only really contingent factor.

Ok im going to make a game right now. Im going to make the game under non-anon 36 hour phases with a 101 point buy in, i will make it as PPCS, because i believe you can still play to win even if it does not directly state WTA. The game will be password protected, PM for password if you are interested in joining.

Im really excited for this game by the looks of it we will have a very skille groups of players, cant wait.

Oh, you can most certainly play to win in a PPSC! That still offers the most points, GR, and prestige. It makes stopping solos an interesting challenge, though, given the diplomatic tool of point bribery available to aspiring soloists. I personally like the different dynamics of the two modes.

As for PPSC vs WTA, it's a free world, but I enjoy the challenge of a successful 17-17. Harder to achieve than a solo.....

isn't a high pot game. 1000

is usually a pot that people call 'high'... but a 'no newbies' pot of 101

is pretty common to filter out some of the chaff.

Filtering players

Is there any way to filter out players without making the bet stupidly large?
I'm in a world game where South Africa, Ghana, Libya and Argentina have given up almost from the first round giving FA and Kenya a massive advantage.

It has been happening in other games too.

To PhD or not to PhD.

As my education is finished in one year, my interest is shifted to possible future employers. Since I'm still undecided about doing a PhD and I know there are quite a lot people here doing/having done them, I have a small question for all of you: Why did you choose to (not) do a PhD? Which factor played and important role and which only a minor one?
