Kestas doesn't want to make the ghostratings official. Points were only invented to incentivize remaining in games, as GR isn't as effective for that, there's no real reason to include it on the site. Plus, that would remove the suspense we have to suffer every month as we wait.

I don't see why we should care one way or the other.

Many of us would greatly appreciate GR being built right in and is calculated at the beginning of every month.

If GR was built in, it wouldn't need to be calculated every month, it could be calculated at the conclusion of every game, just as points are.

Ghost-rating is not a perfect system. It places great emphasis on killing off players with higher GR to gain GR unlike a points system where killing anyone is the same point-wise.
Even in anon, the fact that all classic games count equally for GR means one must keep playing for 3-way draws to keep his GR, and fail to try for a win when it might be possible.

Which is why I believe that there must be a game mode where GR is not affected for me to support any implementation of GR into the webdip system.

GR doesn't reward you for killing off higher rated players. It rewards you for doing well in games with higher rated players, but the outcome is the same within the game regardless of whom you draw with.

Yes, ghug is right. The only difference between GR and dip points is how much each person puts in the pot. How the points are distributed is the same for both.

Both systems put emphasis on killing off other players, as much, or more than just winning.

Oh, built in GR would be cool, no doubt. I just didn't see why one would care about Kestas giving GR his blessing or not as it currently stands.

Because it's his site and he's the one who would have to approve of its creation and implementation.

While that should be the case, I have noticed people whose whole game strategy is to 'try for a 3-way draw'. Certainly a malign influence of GR or points...

Because without points or GR, people would/should let others solo or go for a 2 way draw or a 4 way draw?
That makes a lot of sense.

No, what I am saying is that if there can be games where players need not care about being safe and go for a 3-way, we can see more scenarios where players will take their chances instead.

While this is untrue, this is the way to play. Go for a solo once you are secure in being in the final three. High risk == high reward, right?
