Lord of Ultima
This was a thread in Vdip, but me, King Atom, and Drano019 is thinking of starting a Lord of Ultima, Webdip alliance. For those who know how to play, we are probably going to be starting as soon as a new English Server is opened... For those who don't know how to play, Server 60 would be a good experience-gathering game

Classic gunboat LIVE complaint

Very likely France and Germany are communicating/cheating. No reason why two people with 10 builds bordering each other would still be just chilling out sipping pina coladas like this.

The great and verbacious obiwanobiwan...

Is not at all succeeding in getting a retail job position.

But he tutors fellow students in English, charging more than the free Learning Center on Campus! (But then, my students also tend to do better, ie, actually pass, so, my Jewing them is justified.) :p

Obi would like to be a writer, and writes in his free time--when not writing on this site and getting involved in long theological and political debates--but accepts you need, well, an actual job to fall back on just in case...

So it looks like Obi plans, presently, to become a professor of English, as well as continue after his BA and achieve and MA or PhD...

Obi's been told "You should be a parelegal/attorney, Obi, you NEVER shut up, and SURE like to argue!" which is true, but Obis' not sure he wants to deal with all that, and Obi can barely afford a state college, let alone law school at a UC, but Obi hasn't ruled it out completely...

But, by now, you're all thinking:

1. Typical Obi post, it's gone on far too long, and
2. WHY is Obi referring to himself in the third-person, to which Obi responds
3. Because Obi felt like it

:p

I am a political science, history and economics student at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If all goes well, I graduate in 2.5 years with degrees in political science and history (concentrations: comparative politics and secondary education, respectively), along with minors in economics and Latin. Career path uncertain; I'm setting myself up to be able to teach history at a high school level, but I also have options like law school, collegiate teaching, business, etc. open.

@Abge - where would one be employed with a degree like that? I mean it sounds like it has a huge potential in research and lots of other things, but where are you looking for jobs?

@Eden - move north if you want to be a teacher. In NY some make 6 figures and then retire with 60% salary

OH!

One more reason to add to my massive list of why I want to move to NY, goldfinger...!

:O
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@gold

Semiconductors is a huge industry.

On the design end, there are companies that require in-house cutting edge technology to make their products, like: Intel, IBM, Samsung, Motorola, Sony

There are also all the companies that design and make all of the standard semiconductors and ICs for others to use, like: Texas Instruments, Fairchild Semiconductor, Analog Devices

There are also the actual Foundries, which are incredibly expensive and complicated factories. Most are outside the US, but some are here, such as: GlobalFoundary, IBM, and Texas Instruments

Then there are National Research Labs, like JPL, MITRE, Lincoln Labs, Draper Labs that often do nanoelectronic work.

I'm not exactly sure where I want to work. I've spent a long time doing math and simulation, which has been fun, but I kind of want to move to real-world work. Not sure if I want to do experimental work, which would still involve a lot of design, or actually work in a Foundry.
@goldfinger - while I intended to move out of LA after undergrad anyway... there's a rather ridiculous demand for teachers down here. Pay isn't wonderful, but my chances of being unemployed are about 0%. lol

Plus I'm not even sure that I want to teach. The more I study economics the more I'm considering going somewhere fancy for grad school and going into an economics/financial field.

One Million Moms, Zero Common Sense--Ellen DeGeneres Targeted by Anti-LGBT Group
http://news.yahoo.com/one-million-moms-jc-penney-fire-ellen-shes-173429894.html "Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families,"
Funny this should even be an issue in the year 2012...JC Penny will keep her on, but what does this say about the state of LGBT Rights in America?

Christian Just War Theory
I would like to hear the opinions of the community here at WebDiplomacy regarding Christian Just War Theory. Whether Atheist, Christian, or any sort of religious affiliation, your thoughts are appreciated. Does it concur with what Jesus taught? Is there room for killing in a Christian lifestyle if these conditions are met? Any and all thoughts are appreciated thank you.

Is this type of post allowed?
I am currently in a game with a terrible ally. Let me be more specific: they're not an evil stabber or an incompetent strategist, but they are simply a terrible ally. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm talking possibly the worst teammate I've ever had in any game, Diplomacy or other. Is it improper to discuss this here if I don't use names?
