This Is Not Trolling!
God really spoke to me at church today and I've decided not to post anything on the forums anymore unless I legitimately believe it. For when I troll, it causes the rest of you to sin and I do not want to be responsible for that. Thank you and have a nice day.

The Free Market Working Perfectly
The government doesn't seem to have a desire to interfere in the book selling industry, yet.
So in the small portion of the massive American economy the free market is working by destroying an inefficient business model, Borders Books.

The Redskins, Lions, and Bills are 2-0. The Bengals could potentially lead the AFC North after this week, and both the Chiefs and Colts are 0-2. Is this the same league as last year?

Ethics question
So I was sucking some dude's dick in the rectory basement the other day, and I'm conflicted. The bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin, but I can only find true happiness with a hot rod plunged balls deep into my willing man-hole. How can something that feels so good be wrong?

I want to change, but I can no longer resist my urges for wanton buttsecks with random men. Can somebody please help me?

The trolling trolls initiative
Some people in this forum have now decided that the best way to combat trolls it to troll them.

As someone who hasn't trolled in 3 days and has tried to participate in political debates, this initiative has gotten very annoying. So I request that we stop it.

First game on webdiplomacy - do you remember it?
I remember mine. It was a live non-anonymous game, I was Turkey and smetha was Russia. I asked him if he has a MSN messenger or Google talk, so we can discuss our alliance, and he just stabbed me - with Italy and Austria. I was the first out. What was your first game experience on webdip?

How do I pause?
Sorry for the seemingly dumb question, I've pressed the pause button, as have a few of the other players in our game, but the time seems to keep counting down. Does everyone in the game have to click pause? Or does pause just prevent the turn from processing?

It's our first time playing on the site, I searched the FAQ, and couldn't figure out exactly how pausing works. Thanks in advance for the answer!

We The Undersigned...
...are fed up with the state of the forums.
Cool-headed and fair debate is what made it great, but the recent influx of trolls and flamers and just generally ill-willed people have sickened the forum, and this MUST be fixed.

Post your name below of you're onboard; NO ONE respond to trolls who post here...give them the respect and attantion they deserve--namely, none.

If you are requesting official action, you don't have my support, although this is what you'd need:

1) Kestas' Approval
2) More Mods
3) A very clear list of rules
4) New mod powers to delete threads/posts

If you're talking about simply better self moderation, I'm with you.

We need to clean up the forum, semck83.

And muting isn't the answer to it.

We have to, as a community, just make it clear that we're not going to tolerate this anymore, and follow through on it...it's ridiculous, we can't start a thread now without a troll veering it into the ground...muting has no effect on such people.

They still troll threads along and bump them to the top to irritate others, or jump into threads just to derail them and get people angry at one another.

If we all muted them, it'd be the same as banning them from the forum, so that's not the answer, as clearly we can't ban them all, it'd never get through the mods.

We just have to ignore them or, when someone makes a remark just to be incindary and hurtful--Fasces' 9/11 thread comes to mind--roundly condemn them as a single, forceful group.

It's more a matter of self-moderation and forum unity over chaos and dis-unity.

@obi

You don't get it. Trolls love attention, good or bad. They'd love to have everyone publicly condemn them because it means people are paying attention to them. They're probably overjoyed by this post, too.

It's very simple. Don't respond to trolls. At all. If you can't control yourself, mute them.

@HS: lol.

@obi: OK, sorry. I misinterpreted you to be seeking censorship, which I more or less categorically oppose. I do agree with your suggestion that we all stop feeding them, and I apologize for having done so on the recent thread.

I know they're probably overjoyed by the post, abgemacht...

Let them come, so we can begin the ignoring (you're right, ignoring is better than condemning.)

I would sign, all that holds me back is fear of throwing the word "troll" around too much.

In general, just don't respond in threads you find offensive, or threads you wish did not exist, and do not respond to comments that you do not find to be productive or proper. This worked on mapleleaf and he is now mostly tolerable. So in that sense I am on board. The main thing is to avoid using the word "troll."

What Abge said, my 9/11 thread comes to mind.

It was also my facebook status, said status got 90 comments and 11 friends deleting me.

I think it was a success.

When I troll, all I am looking for is for people to start insulting me, swearing at me or condeming me in someway. If you do so. I WIN BITCHES!

What if we just bait the trolls instead of feeding them, like me?
How you beat a troll is to troll them back. Beat them at their own game and make them the fool. Counter-trolling is a key to victory against the war on trolls.
SacredDigits (102 D)
12 Sep 11 UTC
We don't even really have trolls. True trolls manage to make it look like they might not actually be trying to be offensive. I'd almost say that Draugnar is the closest poster we have to a real troll. We just have immature assholes who like to be edgy and self-congratulatory. And verbose.

Protip: if you have to try to troll, you're doing it wrong.
TC is a true troll... That guy has talent.
