@hellalt - it's gilgatex's site and the first thing you do is insult him. He uses it to create and test variant's. You should have more respect for him. You're being an asshat.

For my two cents:

hellalt: on the surface of it, you may be right that he's being a bit harsh by not giving you a warning first. However, he may already have encountered you on here, and therefore he would already know what a troll you are, and may simply have decided that you are not the sort of person he wants on his site. Since it is his site, he is totally within his rights to ban you.

You appear to have two options:

1. Modify your behaviour, try to become a nicer person, apologise sincerely to gilgatex, and then he might perhaps reconsider.

or

2. Suck it up.

Gilgatex also posted on goonDip that hellalt had sent him some PMs that were also inappropriate. We are only getting hellalt's little part of the story over here.

I've said this over at goondip and I will repeat it for the folks on this site, I don't think it is right for someone to be banned over a single joke. Sure a person can do whatever they want with their own website, but being a tyrant is no way to foster a large and diverse community of online Diplomacy players. I don't know what sort of things Hellalt has said in the past, but I found the comment in question to be humorous and more of a gentle rib than an insult.

Did you not read that hellalt also insulted him in PMs? Frito, read the whole thread when the site is back up. Gilgatex made it very clear it wasn't just the one past and that if hellalt had apologized instead of coming over here and insulting him and bringing his mother into it, he would have unbanned him. Hellalt got what he had coming.

Oh, and I agree that the 100 years was funny. But clearly he crossed the boundaries when he brought it into PMs and then even more when, instead of apologizing, hellalt brought it here.

I have read the whole thread but there isn't any explicit list of offenses, although I do recall something about a PM and I suppose it isn't possible to make an informed decision without knowing the contents of the private message, but based on what I know I stand by my original assessment

Based on abusive PMs I have previously recived from hellalt I would not be surprised if he had said something quite offensive.

Frito: We have no right to decide with what rules Gil runs his own site. It is 100% his decision, and so to play on there is a privilege, not a right.

I understand that completely, but if he wants people to play on the site banning shouldn't be decided on a whim because feelings were hurt. There has to be give and take between a creator and the public especially when they coexist on the forum.
