Talking (Diplomacy)
I find people on this site insist others to talk to everyone a lot. Even enemies. But this seems a little silly. Talking to your enemies won't help you. And there are certain situations where someone has sent you a question and you are doing something which they don't want. Do you answer truthfully and give away your intentions? Or do you lie and show yourself to be untrustworthy?

Bible study
Some of you are God fearing people. I'd appreciate your advice.

I'm starting my first Bible study at my school. My first topic-fellowship of believers. I'd appreciate any advise, Bible verses, or any tips on how to start a succesful Bible study.

I should've thought of that! I'll have to make pancakes tonight.

how old are those you're teaching?
Grades seven-twelve. I think most will be between 15-18.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))

So grades 10-12 mostly?
Yeah, it would seem to be so. It's going to be before school so it'll be mostly those who drive to school.

I reckon, for a first time, something short but "deep" would work. Like, say, when it says
‘The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.” … So Abram left.’ Genesis 12:1, 4
And talk about the faith that shows or something... to do that without proof and stuff
See above. I'm going to talk about the fellowship of believers. So, basically, why I feel that it's important that my school has a Bible study.

I don't know shit about the bible, but I'm a fan of the "less is more" type of thing. I can't give you an example, despite attending church school every Sunday for my entire life, but allowing a loose discussion to take place over a few lines is a great way to learn. At least thats my perspective from my church school discussions, although they are, admittedly, not really taking place for the purpose of "bible study".
For Christian fellowship: the Acts of the Apostles and Epistles would be a good study.

I visitied an online concordance and got this if you want to look over it,

Ask them if trees or people came first and let them have a theological debate about it. The bible says in one part that trees came first and people in another. It's really a backwards ass book. Knowledge is evil, Women are evil, Contradictions are everywhere. It's fun to watch people squirm when you point out the flaws
Okay, tell me where and I'll show you truth. People find contradictions, always proved false.
Thanks for the link Crazy Anglican. Helps a lot.

There are few flaws in the Bible, none really. However, what Iceray references is a good starting point for your fellowship discussion. Reference genesis chapter 2 verse 18, how it's necessary for man to have a companion. Then you can explore how talking about your faith can help it grow.
Good point Cyrano. I will begin with that verse.
Iceray0 (266 D(B))

Are you kidding on the lack of flaws in the bible? That book is so riddled with them it's ridiculous how people can put so much stock in it
DT 6:5, MT 22:37, MK 12:30, LK 10:27 Love God.
DT 6:13, PS 33:8, 34:9, 111:10, 115:13, 128:1, 147:11, PR 8:13, 16:6, 19:23, 22:4, IS 8:13, LK 12:5, 1PE 2:17 Fear God.
1JN 4:18 There is no fear in love.

PR 30:5 Every word of God proves true.
1KI 22:23, 2CH 18:22, JE 4:10, JE 20:7, EZ 14:9 God deceives some of the prophets.
JE 8:8 The scribes (copyists, editors, teachers) falsify the word.
2TH 2:11-12 God deceives the wicked (to be able to condemn them).
(Note: Not every word of God can prove true if God deceives anyone at all; teaching from the Bible cannot be trusted if the scribes falsify the word. In other words, the first reference is mutually exclusive with the other three. Thus, the Bible cannot be the perfect work of a perfect, all-powerful and loving God since one or more of the above references is obviously untrue. Note also: Some versions use the word "persuade" rather than "deceives." The context makes clear, however, that deception is involved.)

EZ 20:25 God says that he intentionally gave out bad laws. (This means that God-given laws or commandments are sometimes suspect.)

LK 1:26-38 The angel who appears to Mary to foretell the birth of Jesus says that Jesus will be given the throne of David, that he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and that his kingdom will never end. (None of this took place nor can it now be fulfilled.)

MT 16:28, MK 9:1, LK 9:27 Jesus says that some of his listeners will not taste death before he comes again in his kingdom. This was said almost 2000 years ago.
(Note: This passage and many others indicate that Jesus was to come again in a relatively short period of time and not just "quickly" as present day Biblicists assert. All of his listeners are now dead, yet Jesus has not come again in his kingdom. All of the alleged words of Jesus put forth in the Bible are therefore suspect.)

MK 16:17-18 A believer can handle snakes or drink poison and not experience any harm.
(Note: Many unfortunate believers have died as a result of handling snakes and drinking poison. This kind of assertion negates the Bible as a useful guidebook for life.)

The book only gets more and more ridiculous as the book moves on.

Hmmph, to wit: "The Devil can quote scripture for his purposes. I'm not going to debate the divine revalation of the Bible on a forum for an online game. One wonders exactly how you prepared that so quickly... but oh well, We're not looking for haters here Ice, so just back off for now, we don't invade your discussions with evangelism, don't invade ours with lunacy.
Iceray0 (266 D(B))

I dont hate the Bible, I enjoyed reading it, I take pride in my ability to bludgeon people with logic by knowing their stories inside and out.
Did you know that God speaks in metaphors sometimes? The last one is referring to snakes and poison as evil. Satan is often described as a serpent, or snake. We encounter evil. We will defeat it.

That's just one. I don't have time to point out the others until later.
Iceray0 (266 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
But people dont defeat it that's the point, they get killed for their beliefs. Where was god to protect his flock?
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
Cyrano, I respect your desire to want to have a thread free of an argument that has nothing to do with what ZaZa wants to discuss here, but you don't have to call someone else's opinion lunacy, thats uncalled for.
Iceray0 (266 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
What I said is not an opinion it is infact pulled directly from the book that is being discussed
I call it a privilege to be a martyr. I'd die in a second to spread the Word to one individual. The rewards aren't on this Earth (at least most), but in Heaven.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
"The book only gets more and more ridiculous as the book moves on."
That is most definitely an opinion, and regardless of where you derived that opinion from, the least someone could do is not belittle your very thinking.
Cyrano (354 D)
07 Dec 09 UTC
He asked for help, not detractions. You, Iceray, pulled these verses out of both context and background, there are problems with them only when you consider them without the verses that surround them. Insulting a book that someone holds sacred is lunacy: it creates unnecessary conflict and automatically creates anger.
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
So the appropriate response to someone who doesn't believe what you believe is anger?
He has a right to present such stipulations. I, in turn, will show him the truth found in the Bible. I don't mind a Biblical debate. :)
Iceray0 (266 D(B))
07 Dec 09 UTC
It's not an insult when you can show them exactly why it's wrong. I dont find it insulting when people tell me to become christian (I am a very devout nothing, I get chided daily by a bunch of christians from my school thank you very much) I politely decline to follow something that is so very clearly wrong

Possible bug in leagues
Russia, Italy, Austria, and Germany all have the same countries as last game. The only countries that changed are ones which have been eliminated in that game. It really sounds like a bug.

Riddle me this...
So I gave this riddle to another player once, with the stipulation that if he could solve it, I would cease hostilities with his nation. It turned out, the player was no better at puzzles than diplomacy. Anyway, I thought some of y'all might have fun with it:

Truth
Okay so here are the rules, Each post must start with something you find to be true, it doesn't have to be something fantastically deep, but it should be something of substance, so not some thing like, "Red shirts are red." After your truth you can say whatever you'd like, but the point would be to discuss others truths. I'll go first.
