You think the European Parliament makes a difference? You want to actually affect the way things are done you'll have to find a way to influence the Commission/Council.

There's the classic line which is that if you don't vote you can't gripe about the government. It's hogwash. What if I don't like the system of voting or even voting at all? If I don't consent to a fundamental system I reserve every right to gripe about the government. I'm not voting in the European elections for a variety of ideological and practical reasons.

surely even if u think the government are worthless or crap, they still run this country n nothin u can do individually is gonna stop that. Therefore do what u can to get the best people in power.

The Green Party have a variety of internal contradictions stemming from their egalitarian approach to public administration. I have this on the brain because I have an exam on it in three days :D

I'll be voting for anyone bar the BNP - my region in the UK is one where they belive they can get a seat, and I don't want a bucnh of racists having any claim on representing me. Haven't quite decided where the cross will go yet.

As in all elections, I'll vote for the least bad option, which is particularly hard this time.

As an aside, it looks like UKIP are benefitting from the expenses scandal, which is amusing (ish) given their record on expenses for the EP
