Country selection not so random
Has anyone else found the countries they get less than random?
I've only played 8 games now, so statistically it's possible but unlikely - that I've got bloody Austria 50% of the time.

Cyber bulling
The American congress is considering a bill to make it illegal. Really shaky ground and ripe for abuse by the powers that be.

Purple Haze - manual unpause please
Our game has been paused now for quite a while because a power in the game was accused of having multiple accounts. Thing is, that power was defeated before the pause and now we're waiting on one player to vote /unpause who hasn't logged on in quite some time.

Would it be possible for you to unpause the game? Pretty please. We'd all greatly appreciate it.

Game Farmer in my current game.
If you take a look at http://phpdiplomacy.net/profile.php?userID=12883 which is the user profile of the person in question, the only other game he has finished is a game where he farmed his points. Just bringing it to your attention.

Athens Diplomats
Are there any players from Athens, Greece?
Maybe we could start a game to get to know each other and later we could also arrange offline games.
Anyone interested?

What do I think? I think it's hilarious!
Those "criminals" should be praised. Why do we hold such esteem for what has already passed? But none for what is yet to come? Quite the statement, no?
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
That it's not true.

Not even anarchists can be this dumb.

Incidentally, I was at a student center in the social sciences school of my university, and there was a sign that read (it's a rough translation):

"Littering so that someone else will clean up is an act befitting a capitalist -bourgois-."

If I had paper and marker, I would have placed one that said:

"Littering so that no one cleans it is an act befitting an anarchist."
Invictus (240 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
I don't believe it. Even I wouldn't dig up Trotsky's grave to mess with his ashes, let alone bake them into cookies.

If this is true it's incredibly shameful. Let the dead rest.
Sicarius (673 D)

anarchism is more like

pick up your own trash
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
theres pictures of the broken into tomb.

anyway theres no way I can 100% prove its true, and you cant prove its not.
for the sake of this disscussion lets presuppose that it is true
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
"anarchism is more like

pick up your own trash"

In theory?

Sure.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
in theory but not practice?

how so

also the trash is a metaphor right
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Well, no, the trash is not a metaphor, the place was actually pretty filthy.

And yes, in theory, but not practice.

If you need me to elaborate, while most anarchist (the ones I've met) will say in theory that they'll take care of themselves and clean after themselves so that no one has to do that for them, usually they end up doing nothing, and if anyone tells them anything, they ask to be free to live in their own filth.
Onar (131 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Problems arise in an anarchistic society when someone else doesn't want to live, looking at someone else's filth. Am I right?
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Well, the truth is we don't know, because there's never been one.

Anyway, we've been educated and trained to live in capitalism for a long long time, so anything else (be it socialism, communism, anarchism or something else) would require a huge amount of educational efforts towards the people.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that most self proclaimed anarchists are just not ready to live in an anarchic society with the responsibilities that such a thing entails.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
theres never been anarchism? thats laughable.
my people lived under anarchism for tens of thousands of years.

also anarchists are filthy? thats a bit of a generalization. my house is immaculate.
except for the basement, but thats a concert venue so thats a bit of a different horse.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
also, we've lived under capitalism for awhile so why try anything different?
what!?

thats a very silly position to take.
thats like north koreans saying, well kim jung il has been in charge for so long, why change?
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
No, I didn't say that we shouldn't try something different, I said that it would take a long time to transition, and that most of us are not ready to live in a different kind of society, so the transition can't be too fast.

And the point is not that anarchists are filthy, read between the lines.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
ok I agree with that.

reading between the lines leads to misinterpratation. I wold prefer you would just tell me so it's clear
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Well, I believe that most, or at least many, self procalimed anarchists are actually the LEAST prepared to live in a different type of society, because I believe that any change like that would require a big sacrifice that most anarchist would not be willing to make.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
that again is a huge generalization

what do you have to support your conclusion?
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Having actually met and interacted with anarchist, both in person and trough the web.
Maniac (184 D(B))

Trotskys' tomb is just another communist plot!
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
I take it your interaction has been rather limited.

my interactions with mormons are pretty limited, and they all see, fucking crazy, complete zealots. but I'm sure not all of them are like that
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Well, then you should have read when I said:

"I believe that most, or at least many,(...)"
Thucydides (864 D(B))
23 Apr 09 UTC
I don't really like the way his remains were treated, no matter who he is.

Generally I would hope that people will treat my remains how I ask them to. If I say, "I don't care, just leave me out to rot," then fine, but if I ask to be cremated and have a scarf that I used to wear wrapped around my ashes and put in a vase, well I would hope thats how my ashes remains. If the sands of time wear those things away, then I wouldn't be unsettled about that, but if people deliberately disrupted them and disrespected them, I would be pretty upset.
Xapi (194 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
And no, it hasn't been limited.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
well neither of us know most, or relativly many anarchists so I dont think you can say that.
part of it may be that these anarchists happen to be american.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
23 Apr 09 UTC
About Mormons... they are actually a lot more normal than you would think.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
hey super tangent, does anyone know what jehovahs witnessess believe?

dont only a certain specific number of people get into heaven
Onar (131 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC
Well, if I'm dead, what would it matter what was done with my remains? Not like I'll ever find out, right? And even if I did, there's nothing I can do about it.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
23 Apr 09 UTC
You don't know anything about what you will or won't know after you die.
You just don't.
We don't know anything.

Jehovah's witnesses get all their doctrine from like a monthly newsletter from the like the Watchtower Corp or something so it changes a lot lol.

They don't celebrate birthdays though
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Apr 09 UTC

23 Apr 09 UTC
no i heard that a long time ago.
i guess you could hit up wiki... or is that still blocked for you
Sicarius (673 D)

no no, it was only blocked on a comp that I had while squatting. we got the net illegally so we couldnt get major sites
