Opening in Gunboat as Russia

Russia has the largest array of openings compared to all other countries on the Classic map. So what exactly is the best opening when you can't communicate with your fellow... allies?

I just saw Rogue One and it was awesome. I've been incredibly impressed with the way Disney has brought new life into the franchise. But, that's not what this thread is about...

Based just on the movies (I am not too familiar with the EU and most of it is probably no longer canon anyway) it seems like the Rebels are responsible for just as much if not more death than the Empire. The Galactic Republic was run by a bunch of incompetents who let Jar Jar talk them into relinquishing all their power. Not really fit to rule imho.

The Empire, in contrast, brought billions of jobs to the galaxy through their public works projects. The Rebels terrorized the Galaxy and, as we learned in VII, really had no plan to govern once the Emperor was overthrown. They caused the galaxy to go into chaos.

What was the Empire really doing that was so terrible and how exactly did the Rebel Alliance solve any problems by disposing the Emperor?

Thoughts?

Well I mean there's the small fact that in order to achieve power the Empire's leader arranged both sides of a galactic war that killed countless lives for the sole reason of wanting power. Then disbanding the galactic senate and installing regional dictators in sectors who's power all was supposed to come out of fear for a weapon designed to blow up planets isn't all that stand up either. I mean I could go on, but do I need too?

The Galactic Senate wasn't disbanded, it just had it's power greatly reduced, if I understand correctly.

I'm pretty sure the Death Star was created directly to combat the Rebels, so without them, it probably wouldn't have been built.

The Galactic Senate (become the Imperial Senate) was disbanded early in ANH.

Also, Luke may have been planning to apply to the Imperial Academy, but that doesn't mean he was going to enlist in the Empire. After all, Biggs jumped from the Academy straight into the Rebellion. So did Wedge, for that matter.

That's one of the failures of the films in my opinion. Other than attacking rebels (which the government would do if it were good or evil), the Empire's evil isn't represented that well on screen. Even when Alderaan is blown up, we never even got to see who lived there or care about those people first.

The prequels are downright stupid, where we DO get to see some things from normal life during a devastating civil war - and most people seem unaffected.

It's not the system that's bad, it's the politicians that were in charge and their actions. I'm sure if Yoda had replaced Palpatine we would have had a different outcome.

Mods Ignoring Complaints?

I filed multiple complaints against abusive forum content days ago, and the mods have not responded. Very disappointed -- I'm fairly certain I am being ignore/treated unfairly because they dislike me -- I expect better behavior from the mods here.

Anyone else being ignored by mods?

There are eight games on this page. When I click the arrow to go to the next page, it says 2 of -7, but there are no games on this page, or on any of the other pages. Shouldn't there be 66 joinable games?

Electoral College Update

Some of the people here who supported the electoral college suggested keeping the allotted electoral votes per state but awarding them proportionally per state as opposed to WTA. Since the results are basically all in I thought I'd do the math. Here it is:
Clinton: 256, Trump: 250

I thought it would be interesting to start a thread on the current issue and affairs happening in the Asia Pacific. I would benefit from this and I'd like to hear what people have to say in an ethical point of view that I wouldn't be able to see myself without guidance.
