Contracts
Does anyone on here regularly look over or write contracts for a business (technically under Illinois law)? I have a new contract written up for my company I could use a hand and I don't wanna pay someone a brand new car an hour just to tell me it's all good. I would love you forever if you have the credibility to help and are willing to help <3

"Burkini" Bans in France
Apparently, France is banning all sorts of religious garb, specifically targeting Muslim women, in the name of personal freedom and cultural values. Critics claim that hijabs, burkas, and other similar face or head coverings are repressive of women and are not fitting with the culture of openness in Western Europe. Thoughts?

"Conservatism" and military spending
Something that puzzles me. A lot of people who call themselves conservative are generally big on pushing the small-government, "tax is theft" line. At the same time many of those same people are huge supporters of the armed forces.

How is decided which nation I get in a game?
I couldn't find an answer to this in the FAQ section.
When entering a new game, does the system distribute the nations to the players randomly? How is it decided who gets which nation? Is there a possible way of influencing the distribution, setting up preferences etc. or is it always totally random?
Thank you for answers.

Boston Massacre Tournament Sept 24-25 Cambridge, Mass
The Boston Massacre was the first F2F tournament I ever played in and was a big inspiration when I created the webDip F2F Tournament and The Boroughs. I'm very happy to be reviving this tournament along with Valis, 2nd, and RLH. For more info, check out www.BostonMassacreDiplomacy.com. Hope to see you there!

As far as the matter at hand goes, parents convince their children that a rabbit shits out eggs all over the yard every spring and that a centuries-old man flies reindeer and drops gifts into the chimney every winter. There's a woman who leaves some change for your teeth. There's angels and demons and ghosts and prophets and on and on. Parents manipulate children into their political and religious agenda all the same, as do friends and teachers. If you're going to convert anyone at any age into a suicide bomber, I would expect that a child would actually be the easiest target.
People are willing to do terrible things in real life if you promise them an afterlife.

Genesis 22

1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

And thus we learn that a good Christian is one who is willing to sacrifice all for the glory of God :)

The belief in a God and a corresponding afterlife is not the be all and end all, of course. The key is a belief that you are the good guys. Truly obscene crimes like this our only ever built on the best of human qualities. Love, selflessness, honour etc etc. The bad guys don't have it in them.

So a parent will need to love their child. To want what's best for them. And what can be better than a life of meaning, a life in service to god and your fellow man, a life rewarded by paradise in the next?

If the alternative life is a grim fight for survival without hope of improvement, then the argument in favour of suicide bombing is all the stronger. Add to that a cheapness of life that is grown from seeing so many others die from war and disease. Dehumanise the enemy so it no longer feels like a crime but a heroic strike against evil. Then add a financial reward for the surviving family because, at the end of the day, eating is important.

Is it that hard to imagine why the parents do it?
Randomizer (722 D)
23 Aug 16 UTC
The Catholic church convinced the peasant class that they would be rewarded in the afterlife for their suffering in this world. It helped to keep them from revolting.

Norsemen were convinced if they died bravely in battle they would go to Valhalla. No trouble recruiting fighters in that culture.

Not only does Islam promise rewards for martyrs, it also dehumanizes anyone that isn't a Muslim so they don't feel like they are killing real people. It's a common tactic in most wars.

I can't wrap my mind around the idea that people convince their children that they should grow up, study hard, work their asses off to make a good life for themselves....and then vote for fucking Liberals that will tax their asses off and give the wealth of their labor to useless lazy shits???

principians -- help at the point of a gun is hardly charity, moron.

My children volunteer their time for things THEY find valuable, and where THEY choose to help.

Some lazy ass getting the the dust from the bottom of my wallet because the government decided to threaten to imprison me if I don't give is hardly "helping others".

Moron. Sheesh.

I'll even be kind enough to help YOU right now, principians. Get a funcking job and take care of your own damned self, instead of being a leach on society. You will feel better about yourself, the overall status of society will be improved, and you can then help others as YOU see fit.

If EVERY lazy mf'er took this advice, I wouldn't have to be a slave to the government.

"My children volunteer their time for things THEY find valuable, and where THEY choose to help."

or you might democratize your budgets.

"the government decided to threaten to imprison me if I don't give"

I resist myself to believe that literally happens in the US, but I'm certainly no expert on US law, so I'll concede there

My work here is done. Having now conveyed my spotless advice, which *surely* all you lazy bastards will accept for the truth that it is, you will be compelled to spread this gospel of society to all whom you meet, and all the world's ills will be solved shortly.

Orrrrr....all you idiots will continue to be sheep for the government, slaves to the slovenly, and the state of hideousness which infects the globe's societies will continue to put a stink upon the history of humanity.

Elect Trump so he can cut taxes for the rich. Then they can fire their accountants and tax lawyers that were lowering their taxable income, thereby increasing unemployment in the US. Screw the economy by voting Republican.

Without getting involved in this ridiculous pissing contest that is apparently passing for a "rational debate" allow me to assure you that in the United States people do go to prison for not paying taxes. Not the super rich that can get the legislators to masterfully bend the tax code in their favor or the poor who don't have enough but those in the middle that evade taxes can and do go to prison.
Randomizer (722 D)

"Only the poor pay taxes." - Leona Helmsley over owing taxes.

Very few of the very rich ever serve time. Trump is supposedly fighting owing $640 million, so that might explain not releasing tax returns.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

In America, people can and do go to prison for "tax evasion". Septuagenarian Irwin Schiff, for example, recently died behind bars that 'crime' (the authorities considered him too dangerous to release while he was on his deathbed as a result of - IIRC - cancer).

The people of Iraq - whose country was destroyed and cities obliterated in part with your tax pounds despite never doing you any harm - probably do not agree with you, Jamie.

"Only the poor pay taxes." - Leona Helmsley over owing taxes.

The fact that Randomizer is quoting this and not advocating a complete obliteration of the current tax system demonstrates he either does not care about the injustice of it, is oblivious to it, or has some pathetically naive delusion that the system can be reformed if we just vote for the right people.
principians (881 D)
25 Aug 16 UTC
Well, thinking again, of course prison makes sense for US. Anyway, I wonder whether seizures and closing down bussiness for entrepreneurs and direct salary retention for workers, shouldn't be consider as a first option.
Randomizer (722 D)
25 Aug 16 UTC
The system can't be reformed because the special interests keep buying loopholes for themselves. Replacing it will just mean those that can afford to lobby Congress will get themselves removed from the new tax code.

Trump wants to become president so he can get a tax code that favors him. I'm not rich enough to benefit or suffer more under any of the proposed tax plans. The last tax proposal that would have helped me was under Bill Clinton and that never made it into a tax reform bill.
