This is not an apology or a goodbye. This is a statement.
I love the shit here in the forum. I'm almost done with school, so after this post, I am asking goldfinger to amplify me for a period of no less than one year. I feel after all my contributions my posts here deserve to be printed in fontsize+5 (not Arial). I'll use the time to teach you all on conservative values.

Adobe data theft exposes widespread problem of weak passwords
Apparently the most popular password among Adobe users was "123456" - (LINK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24821528)

What's YOUR WebDip password? Do you have a more secure one than that? Post it here and we'll see if the forum agrees!

Western Spring (as opposed to Arab Spring)
How long until we really start to get rid of our own tyrants?

Just curious what people think and all... Also trying to have some compassion for the Arabs because right now it's just one of those things happening somewhere in the east for me... It would come much closer if I see what this would mean in the west I suppose... Discuss.

jmo:

Yellowjacket (userID=36493), several of those links, while non-existant have taken me to suggestion pages which include extremely sexual links. Given your history and previous warnings on forum issues, additional violations will result in extended silences.

-WebDip Admin

----------------

Am I now responsible for what your browser suggests you might want after clicking on a broken link? Perhaps you should switch browsers, or turn safe search on if you don't like the content your browser suggests? Perhaps you should maintain a state of skepticism toward all untrusted links? Perhaps you should be aware by now that nothing YJ links you to would be anything you wanted to see, considering my "history and previous warnings on forums issues?" Perhaps censorship isn't the answer.

Perhaps.

I'll be honest here, when they first made jmo a mod I was highly concerned, because I already knew of his proclivities as a bit of an 'enforcer.' I suspected it was only a matter of time before he tried to turn the forum into something I (and presumably others) would not like.

Since then, to my pleasant surprise, he has generally been much more fair and reasonable than I had anticipated. He's been the sternest of our mods, but I can't say I ever saw the gestapo-esque crackdown that I had long anticipated. This has changed in recent weeks.

The man is exceeding his mandate, and bullshit must be called.

I DEMAND JUSTICE.

I have a better idea...

If Jmo uses Chrome and his browser suggested pornographic sites, doesn't that, based on Google's recent decision to track your browsing history when suggesting sites, mean that jmo watches an excessive amount of porn?

Your posts are clearly designed to push the rule of sexually explicit content. And as Draugar found out yesterday and is still bitching about, common sense actually does apply to these rules. Don't post shit that links to sites everyone knows is designed to be explicit.

regarding my contributions"

can i call bullshit on refering to your... actions... as 'contributions', i seriosuly doubt you were contributing to anything (other than perhaps mod headachyness.)

I would also like to object most strenuously to mods doing anything on the forum which isn't related to in-progress games.

but ontopic, can you not just use the sexually explicit references already in the bible?
such as: Proverbs 5:18-19

YellowJacket - The problem with allowing these fake links is that someone on the Mod team has to follow each one to make sure it's fake, and, as you admit yourself, a link you post is not something anyone in their right mind would want to follow.

We cannot allow real links to pornography to be posted to this forum for the reasons I gave in the forum policy thread. You're forcing us into a choice here - either following every link you post to make sure they're not pornography, or to just ban posting fake pornographical links as well. I'm certain we're going to get a heck of a lot of abuse from everyone for 'restricting freedom of speech', but I know which I'd prefer, and I think I speak for the entire Mod team there.

'The problem with allowing these fake links is that someone on the Mod team has to follow each one to make sure it's fake, and, as you admit yourself, a link you post is not something anyone in their right mind would want to follow.'

- no, i think you'll find, the problem is that the mod team has taken the rather foolish choice of doing this pointless work instead of allowing users who are offended by YJ's posts to mute him.

if it's not a discussion of an ongoing game, or a cheating accusation then you're wasting your energy. AND encouraging a fight, which is something that the psychology of *some* people just escalates the problem.

"no, i think you'll find, the problem is that the mod team has taken the rather foolish choice of doing this pointless work instead of allowing users who are offended by YJ's posts to mute him. "

Mods aren't allowed to mute other people, and at least several of us can't get on the site if the forum is littered with porn. Kestas doesn't want people to have to worry about not being able to access the site from work, and he doesn't want actual death threats or members threatening rape of member relatives on the forum. It's his site orathaic, the mods don't choose whether or not we're going to allow something. Everything in the rules is Kestas's writing, and everything enforced has been sent to him for his final say so.

This is why a lackadaisical forum moderation policy does not work. Every site has immature fucktards like YJ and Draugnar that insists on running the place into the ground for their own entertainment. The forum has been an even bigger steaming pile of shit than it already was since the appluaded changes.

The Future of Western Armed Forces
In Holland, the downward economic spiral has led to massive cuts in defense. I wonder if that shouldn't be preceded by a thorough and nation-wide conversation about this topic, that I believe many countries are currently dealing with. In this thread, we discuss the future of the armed forces.

We should have a triple secret probationary silence on the site.
While the subject is light hearted Animal House sounding, I mean it when I say it. If the system had a way to silence forum posters posts without indicating to them they were silenced (kind of a universal mute) then people like blankflag could be secretly silenced and the good boys and girls of the forum wouldn't have to put up with him trying to come back in under a different name.

NFL Pick 'em: Week 9--Who's Prime for a Trick, Who's Due for a Treat?
If the playoffs were to start today, the Cowboys would be due to play the Niners (yet again) and the Packers would play the Lions in the NFC Wild Card, Saints and Seahawks with byes, while in the AFC, the Colts and Broncos would match-up again and the Patriots would play the Jets (!) as the Bengals (!) and Chiefs (!!!) enjoyed byes. Such is the way the first half has shaken out...so, at the halfway point, Week 9--PICK 'EM!
