18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: A Roman-Carthaginian alliance could an powerful force for republicanism against the despotism of the East. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Yes, but an Egyptian-Carthaginian alliance would be much stronger. Europe will try to make us into an ancient third world country. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Hey Rome, look at the year... you missed the republicanism boat by several decades. Despotism ftw! If you'd like to join the dark (purple) side, we can split Greece nicely between us. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: The sands of Africa shall blow north. Egypt-Carthage it is! Prepare yourself you democracy loving infidels! |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Rome, I'll be happy to ally with you while you focus on carthage |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Since apparently Persia wants to destroy me |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Egypt, would you like help in your push northwards against Persia?> |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Hey Greece, I'm not definitely interested in destroying you, and in fact would be happy not having a two front war (since I think it's obvious that's where Egypt is headed). I'm fine with the standard DMZ and then am willing to let you expand south into the middle of North Africa, should us and Rome want to join together |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: My only reticence to an alliance with you is that you will be wanting an alliance with Rome as well, and that leaves you with nowhere to expand meaning that you will inevitably betray one of us, and I'd rather not toss that coin. But if you are happy just focusing south, I'm fine with that. I take Thebes, Alexandria and Memphis, you take Cyrene Leptis and Numidia, and Rome takes Carthage Thapsus and Citra. It could work. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Greece, I like the way you think. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Yeah, well, looking at the year most of this map would be Roman anyway. I'm happy to ally with you Greece. I also would recommend not trusting Persia as far as you can throw him, esp as a convoy through the Cilician Sea will allow for bypassing the DMZ in the blink of an eye. Carthago delinda est!! |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: #MarchoftheElephants....narrated by Morgan Freeman |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: everything should be narrated by Morgan Freeman |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Can't argue with that |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Aw, comeon now... if I wanted to break the DMZ I'd just march straight through Galatia and do it. No need for Cilician Sea shenanigans. It's up to you Greece. I'd prefer not to fight a two front war, obviously. It's in my best interest to not be in that situation, and as always, my actions will be motivated by that self-interest, so you can be assured that I would not stab you in the back. And just allow me to say that it strikes me as odd that you would ally with Egypt against me, when Egypt and Carthage have put themselves in opposition to you and Rome. Both you and Egypt should be trying to ally with me rather than giving the enemy SC's. Just sayin'. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: I would include your interests with that of the domineering Neo-Assyrians or Persians (both empires took over lower Egypt) - not better than Europe's at all. I'd rather team up with the Hellenism of Greece any day. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: I too seek to avoid fighting on two fronts Greece, so you can be assured that I will not attack you while Carthage is still alive, and if after that I am slugging it out with Egypt I'd again be unlikely to initiate hostilities. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Rome- for now, you get vind, i'll get dalmatia, and we don't move past those areas? |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: I too have no quarrel with Greece while Rome lives. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1: Sounds like a plan to me Greece. Also, please tell me I'm not the only one thinking "nothing happens to Fredo while our mother is alive." |
