Ratings
I'm relatively new to WebDip .. and am interested to know roughly how the ratings work and what influences your status. Is it primarily about proportion of wins? (But I have noticed people with no wins who have moved on from 'political puppet'.) Or is it more about the overall proportion of wins/draws/survived/defeats? Do the total number of points you have influence things? Does the quantity of games played matter?

Supreme Court mostly overturns Arizona immigration law
The Supreme Court unanimously (8-0) upheld the part of the law requiring police to check the immigration documents of people they arrest/stop. It overturned the rest of the law -- 6-2 for the part of the law dealing with employment, and 5-3 for the rest.

Don't executive orders last only as long as the issuing President is in office?
SacredDigits (102 D)

No.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Jun 12 UTC
It depends on if the new guy revokes them or not. Some stay cause even if the new guy is from the opposition they were just good ideas. Others get revoked even by the same party cause they fell out of favor.
SacredDigits (102 D)
27 Jun 12 UTC
Right, the point being that they last until action is taken to make them no longer there, much like just about anything with the force of law. This could be a deliverable ("until x happens") or expiration date ("until June 4th") in the original order or it could be until it is made obsolete by other orders or legislation or it could be until it is removed by the Supreme Court (which has happened twice) or by the President (some Presidents will even remove their own previous executive orders).

"We are not writing an essay we are having a friendly debate on the forums of a game website. Im not saying you shouldnt try to be credible but people some slack.... seesh."

When lunatics are demanding the President be 'impeached' for actions allegedly done via executive order then one would think the person making this argument would have something to back it up. He has nothing. He's just full of hate.
Draugnar (0 DX)
27 Jun 12 UTC
Well, I don't really think he should be impeached, just not reelected. But I am still a lunatic. Thanks for noticing Putin.

Lunatic Fringe - I know you're out there

I think some people have misunderstood the nature of my post. I was not referring to anyone specifically. I was talking about the nature of arguments. At times i think that people in an attempt to discredit ones opinion will point out such things as lack of source, spelling, etc... Really I think that there are occurences when participants expect to much of their colleagues. As no one can always remember everything or be completely correct in their grammar. Im just saying that some expectations are unrealistic in debates.

But, ascended, if you are going to make an outrageous and inflammatory statement as some have (myself included), you better expect to have it challenged and be willing to back it up. As a group, this site contains some of the most highly intelligent individuals I've had the pleasure of asociating with. So I hold them to a higher standard and expect them to hold me to one as well. You can't make statements like "one was white, one hispanic, the white one walked without any ID, anbd the hispanic was held for days even after providing her ID" without expecting it to be challenged. And if you don't back it up when challenged, then it is rightfully dismissed as an outright lie. If you back it up, but not as fully, then it becomes an exaggeration which is a little more forgivable in the heat of the moment on a BB. But blatant lies are never acceptable amongst a group of intelligent individuals.

And "you" was the third person "you". Not literally you, ascended.

Was Nixon's claim of executive privilege challenged and when it was found the material he attempted to shield with privilege exposed a cover-up he was threatened with impeachment. Now I don't know what Obama is hiding or if he is hiding anything, but given the history of executive privilege in the last forty years questioning the President's motives and mentioning impeachment doesn't require hate. If there was nothing there then the President who promised the most transparent administration in history wouldn't be hiding behind executive privilege.
Invictus (240 D)

I don't think there is anything that ties Fast and Furious back to Obama. But invoking executive privilege is the dumbest political move he could have made. Now it LOOKS like there's something he's hiding even though he probably isn't, or at most is hiding something to protect Holder from having to resign (they seem to actually be friends, or their wives are). Now Obama owns Fast and Furious. He certainly didn't need that after the month he's had.

I would like seven games with the same six players either in series or simultaneous. With permission (and help) from a mod, we would each play as each nation exactly once. Buy in will be 44 D, 36-48hr, WTA. PM or post here if interested. Note: if simultaneous, you must have 308 D at least before joining as this is the minimum to play 7 games at 44 D each.
